Can't decrypt storage in TWRP - OnePlus 5 Questions & Answers

I switched from RROS back to OxygenOS, but now TWRP can't decrypt my storage.
Does anyone know a solution other than removing the password every time I want to use TWRP? Or should I format the storage and then restore everything?

TWRP doesn't backup or read OTG

I am trying to backup my device throw TWRP. But it keeps telling me can't create TWRP backup file or something like that and I tried to use OTG but TWRP doesn't read it
There is more than one TWRP for the OP5 available. One which doesn't interface with OTG storage. Here is the TWRP that does. Second and this is a guess, by chance is your internal storage encrypted? All OP5's internal storage is encrypted by default so your's is encrypted unless you manually decrypt it.
So I'm wondering if you script entering your pin/swipe/password when TWRP first boots and that's why TWRP can't create the backup file. Enter "default_password" if you never setup security for your lock screen.

Twrp internal storage shows 0mb.

i have the same issue. after a faulty app update through playstore, my phone kept a bootloop. I wanted to save my data via twrp, but just see sd card 0 mb. would really appriciate if someone can provide me some feedback.
Format data
In that case u want your internal storage size restored.
You have to format data(removes all data)
There is an option Under 'Wipe Menu' in twrp called 'format data'.

Restore EFS TWRP Backup with Encrypted System?

I am familiar with how by default in Stock Nougat for Moto G5 Plus, your data is encrypted and you must decrypt in TWRP by formatting data in order to view internal storage. I was just wondering if it is possible to restore an EFS backup through TWRP without having to decrypt your data (ie without formatting data)?
Any help is much appreciated!
Yes, decryption is only neccessary for the /data partition, you can modify and flash all other partitions without touching /data.

Any recovery that can decrypt data from a Pie ROM?

I can't seem to find any recovery TWRP or otherwise that can decrypt encrypted data partitions? Is there any way I can do that? Just asking because i have been able to on other devices.

Internal storage is encrypted (twrp)

So guys i f'ed up badly , after updating pixel experience rom i got stuck. my phone would only boot to fastboot mode so i thought of moving my internal storage data to pc through twrp but before doing that i cleared data and now my internal storage is encrypted . Is there's any way i can retrieve my files ?
The easiest way to solve it is to boot into recovery, format data and install the rom. Because i suppose you can not boot the phone?
