On the Iphone theres is this nice library called activator when you are jailbroken. You can assign various multitouch gestures (globally) on the device. For example: Launch an application by swiping the top statusbar left-to-right. Open the mp3-player-popup by swiping down the statusbar. You can assign the various gestures for when you are on the lockscreen, or on the homescreen, or you can choose global activation for the different gestures.
On GalaxyS theres this nice app called GalaxyTuner. There are already multitouch gestures implemented where you can remap hardwarebuttons to.
For example: swipe statusbar left to right ->volume up
swipe statusbar right to left ->volume down
So I'm basically looking for an app to launch different things/access different settings. I asked the developer of galaxytuner if he could implement that things are launched with multitouch gestures globally. He said he could but he wouldn't...sadly....
So would anyone like to give it a shot ?
Would be nice to access some task switcher applications by just swiping the statusbar from left to right or to access the wifi settings, or to launch quickdesk(a seperate widget layer where you could place a mp3 player control widget, so when you are in an application you could switch tracks without leaving the application)
hi,
anyone knows/can suggest what could replace our trusted "honeybar" for ICS? honeybar - of course - will not work since it's for honeycomb
I tried HideBar app, but it's a hit or miss App, sometimes it works most times you'll find it hard to bring the Status Bar up,compared to honeybar wherein it's so responsive.
any other suggestions aside from the paid GestureControl Full/Lite and Hide Bar?

Gmd gesture control requires a workaround for ICS for now, but it works. You've got to install busybox and set gmd gesture control to use busybox. Its all in a thread floating around in the p6800 forum
Sent from my GT-P6800 using XDA Premium HD app
the latest version of gesture control which was update today no longer need busybox..
GMD Gesture control doesn't have a shortcut to take a screenshot on the Galaxy S4
I was advised by the developer to find a screenshot shortcut app, so I can assign a gesture to it to take a screenshot
Most of these screenshot apps have an icon in a taskbar or creates a gesture itself. I rather not have multiple gesture apps since they conflict with each other based on my experience
So, I'm asking, is there an app that would allow to create an icon shortcut for pressing the home+power button at same time to create a shortcut, so I can assign it to GMD gesture control?
Thanks
Search xShortcut in google play store

Just a simple question, is this gesture support could be integrated on our phone ? For exemple, when the phone is locked, double tap the screen which makes the phone to wake etc...
I heard it's a kernel feature, i wish we could add it to CM kernel or else as SGY have a proximity sensor so i thought it could be nice, Maybe we'll be able to create our custom gesture to perform custom actions and stuff... ^^
I'm just curious

Double tap to wake is a kernel feature - I don't have knowledge of kernels so don't know if it can be implemented but it will most likely drain the battery
Any other gesture eg Swipe up to launch phone will be down to your launcher
Nova launcher is a good launcher with gesture support (requires 4.0+)
Gingerbread launchers look at holo launcher or adw launcher for examples
Hello,
I always use a gesture "one finger pull down" to pull down the notification shade, but it is not working for me on the S8 has anyone noticed the same?
I am currently using action launcher 3, but none of the launchers seem to do it for me.
Update, action launcher has been updated and it works now.
Yes. I have the same issue.
Settings > Advanced Features > Enable "Finger Sensor Gestures"
it's working for me, clear your fingerpring and try.. .... mine is S8+
It's not the fingerprint sensor that's not working it's the gesture on the home screen of pulling down. Normally I can swipe down anywhere in the home screen and pull down notifications and quick actions. Right now I have to get my finger all the way to the top. I have tried making the gesture a double tap as well as a two finger pull and nothing works.
I have exactly the same issue! I submitted a bug request with action launcher, in case its a problem with that app. Perhaps you should do that too?
It's not the app. I'm fortunate enough to have Verizon which still allowed the Bixby button to be remapped. (the first time I'm actually happy they are slow at rolling out updates lol). That being said I remapped that button to open notifications and its fine. However using Nova launcher which uses what I assume is the same accessibility interception doesn't work. Hopefully a work around is found so this phone is more usable with one hand.
Definitely an issue with 3rd party launchers and the s8 fingerprint sensor

I have the same issue. Guess i have to get used to use the fingerprint swipe, until they fix it.
Working for me as well.
Did you activate launcher's service in settings>accessibility>services?
Its disabled by default, you have to enable it in the settings, but to be honest, that feature is useless unless you are missing fingers on your hand. and youll end up smudging your camera in the process.
Yeah sure did... Still mot working
I have the same issue using Action Launcher 3. I also have the app ticked in Accessibility.
Everyone who is saying it IS working is misunderstanding the issue. It's not a case of swiping the fingerprint sensor not working, it's a case of launchers that use shortcuts to access the notification shade. For years, I've used Action Launcher 3 where a single finger swipe down OF THE HOMESCREEN brings down the notification shade - that doesn't work anymore. And given the height of the S8 duo, this is the time we need it the most.
It does not work because swiping up/down now brings up app drawers. It is by design. Maybe try disabling app drawers a la iOS style?
You just need to enable Action Launcher in Settings->Accessibility scroll all the way down to services.
(I hope those is the right names, my phone is not set to english)
Looks like Nova Launcher Prime does work for me as long as Accessibility is activated so this problem is mostly just a Action Launcher problem. I remember at one point he moved away from needing accessibility to utilize this feature and maybe its default setting is to not utilize it any longer. I really want to stick with Action Launcher so hopefully the developer will come through with the old way through accessibility.

Ok found a solution but its annoying. If you have Action Launcher and Nova Launcher (Prime may or may not be needed) you can still use action launcher primarily but you'll need to utilize Nova Launcher's action short cuts. So here goes...
1. Open Action Launcher Settings
2. Go to shortcuts
3. Go to swipe down
4. Assign single finger to "Shortcut" > Nova Action > Select Expand Notifications in this menu.
??? profit

GENIUS.
I found another solution as well! works very good.
Install the app "drop down status bar"(WangQi) from play store and then use this app as a shortcut for that gesture you want.
