Please in english. Amazon prime devices aren't unlockable. Motorola had a short time frame when some people were able to unlock it but after a maintenance of the website everything is like before. That's the price you pay to get the phone for 100 bucks less. If it's not Amazon or carrier locked I can't help you. Maybe try another usb cable or socket.

If you are unable to get the unlock code from the device, only Motorola can help you... Only Motorola can generate the unlock token and only from the unlock data from your device. Unfortunately, there is no other recourse here. Communication is obviously taking place, so the issue is internal to the device. This is not a very common thing but we have seen it before. Sorry, aside from a factory reset, there is nothing anyone here can do for you.
Oh, and don't try any of the one-click root or unlock tools, they will brick (possibly even hard brick) the device. Better to have a locked device than a dead one.
Did anyone got any solution
I am facing the same problem. My device is not giving the bootloader unlock code which i have to paste as string in Motorola's website. Can factory reset solve this issue. Please help

Honestly, there is probably about a 1 in 5 chance a factory reset it will work... But you are out nothing, unlocking the device will wipe it anyway.
Beyond that, the only people who can help you are Motorola/Lenovo... There is no trick or alternative here unfortunately.
I'm trying but it only appears
Code:
< waiting for device >
and it doesn't change

There won't be one. They're considering it the same as the moto g4 Amazon prime exclusive version and neither Amazon nor moto will be releasing a bootloader unlock for the 1607.
As for the 1609, though, you could call their support line and request a bootloader unlock code, since the chart says nothing about the Verizon variant, so it's assumed that it counts as any other non-plus 4th generation moto g.

Yea I tried calling moto but they were not helpful and said they did not help with bootloader unlocks. Which is just absurd. I'm really at a loss cause I've tried everything available but I can't get the 1609 rooted or bootloader unlocked.:crying:

Yep, I went the same route too and thought I was getting somewhere. After 5 or 6 emails with support, they told me to call and ask for a bootloader unlock. I thought that meant it was going to happen, when really it was just them passing the buck and letting the phone support people tell me no.

May need the help of a some one experienced in cracking bootloader's and or rooting. I'll keep digging for a root solution and as soon as I get success I'll post here. If anyone else can help in the search or actually crack the code (as I like to say) and post it here, that would be great.

You have to use your last synced google id, or if you had multiple ids then try with each one of those. I had frp too 2-3 times but it lets me proceed after entering the correct google id & password
Dirtycow, dpc etc..all these will probably fail because google fixes it by releasing monthly security updates.

if you keep the setting 'OEM unlocking' in developer options enabled then you desable this FRP. (in this case it's too late of course).

Yes. You'll have to reboot to twrp, click on mount then check the box next to oem. Next go to the twrp file manager and etc/motorola/hide/ there is a file named application.xml. Rename the file with a ~ on the end. Then reboot and you should have it working. That file tells the system to hide the hidden menu app, that's why it opens and closes like that.

I have been following this thread with interest as I have an E4 I bought in the USA recently.
I was hoping to unlock for use here in the UK. Boost have flatly refused to help me.
When I put my sim in the notification bar briefly flashes up with a hidden menu & 'Invalid sim'
I could perhaps use that unlocker website but I don't fancy the phone being on a blacklist.
here is where I show my ignorance though, we are talking about unlocking the sim on a locked phone here yes? ...
not an OEM unlock, which I believe is unlocking the bootloader (rooting it?)

Is there a way to root the amazon ads version of this phone or are we stuck in the same boat as the verizon version?
Bump
I've been reading up on the Moto G4 Play forums and I am wondering if initroot is possible with the Moto E4. I've run the sunshine APK and it says the pretests have passed and that temproot is needed to continue. So would initroot + sunshine = unlock? Or are sunshine and initroot patched. Do I have this all wrong or??? Would love some input, thanks.
EDIT: Appears SunShine doesn't support the E line of devices, may still work though...

I am truly shocked! The cost/effort to maintain an exclusion list of device identifiers must have outweighed the business benefit (Amazon ecosystem lockin) assuming it was not an inadvertent disclosure. That leaves Verizon (XT1767) as the only major that can't be bootloader unlocked.
I noticed the price gap between 'prime' and 'standard' variants has narrowed of late - perhaps in recognition of revenue loss due to lack of lock screen ads (Amazon policy change) and/or more freedom to root and remove Amazon exclusive content - aka 'bloat'.
got excited, but sad to report it didn't work for me.
Please help me. I had already once relocked my bootloader can I able to unlock again? Please help me and I still have that unique key which Motorola had provided me when I first unlocked the bootloader
Yes, you can unlock/relock your device multiple times. I'm not sure if it's the same unlock code, because I allways ordered a new from Motorola.
