I'm using the Navigation Gestures app from XDA, which works pretty well for me. However, I don't want to use the adb method for hiding the nav keys because I heavily rely on my phone and don't want to be out of nav keys if the app should crash and I am away on business.
The built-in way to hide navigation keys works well in almost every regard, but for whatever reason there's no option to hide the navigation keys in launchers (in my case Action Launcher). It makes no sense to me because I think the launcher is one place where you need the nav bar the least since you don't need Back and Home, only Recents is occasionally needed.
So, my question is: Does any one know a quick workaround or an additional app that allows to hide the navigation bar in launchers?
Thank you guys for any ideas!

I used this before oreo. With it you can disable it anywhere, system-wide. But it probably uses the same method as xda nav gestures to do it(adb or root). With the same risks.

I want to use PIE control instead. Is there some kind of build.prop mod or something that hides the nav bar?
Might be worth going for a custom ROM that has PIE. All you then have to do is switch to Expanded Desktop and there you have it!?
You'll find many ROMs that do PIE. There is also a launcher that does that, it's called LMT Launcher. You will find it here on XDA.

I don't want to flash a whole new ROM. I just want the PIE control and nav bar removal. PIE control has a Play Store app so I don't need to flash that but I know there has to be some kind of simple mod to remove the nav bar.
Ah, ok, didn't realize there was an app for it.
How about this:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1780970

It seems to force tablet UI, but the nav bar still remains. I know there was a way to make the nav bar appear for the Note 2 so there has to be a way to hide the nav bar for the Nexus 7.
download LMT launcher, it's been around longer than PIE has and doesn't require any specific rom...

you can go into google playstore and search for PieControl Pro. There is a free version and a pro version for $1.99

So can this hide the nav bar?
Flash ParanoidAndroid ROM it has built in PIE navigation in Quick Settings so when you tap on it your navigation bar hides and PIE control activates and if you are worried about Tablet UI you can turn it off any time you want. =)

are you on the stock rom? not sure if LMT can hide the navigation menu. you may as well just flash any other rom since almost every other rom lets you hide the navigation menu anyways. LMT is also way more customizable than PIE.
At the end of build prop add
qemu.hw.mainkeys=1
Save and exit, I don't believe it works on stock rom though but I could be wrong.
I use this on roms that don't have it built in navbar hide built in, and I use lmt launcher, because I prefer it to pie.

Is there a launcher that can hide the navigation bar on the home screen?

No. Why do you only want to hide it while on the home screen?
Edit: If you just want to hide it period, you can use this. http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1243352&d=1344188251

You need a custom rom like PA in order to do that.
Or use lmt so which is pie, so you can now hide the navigation bar buttons in expanded mode.

You can also use gmd gesture control if you want to stay on stock but quickly hide/unhide navbar using gesture, even on custom roms its faster than having to hold power button and clicking expanded desktop

This is a great way to permanantly hide navbar but keep notification bar on stock but there is 2 problems i encountered with this method, 1st prob was the 3 dots would dissapear from chrome etc and on 4.2.2 i encoutered a flicker problem quite often but it sounds like the OP wanted to just hide the bar on home screen which im not sure why lol but if thats what he wants his best bet would be gmd gesture control or custom rom with expanded desktop mode

Agreed gmd gesture looks pretty cool.

All other app hide navigation bar and notification bar. I'm developing new root app that will allow to hide just navigation bar and replace it with auto hide status bar replacement :fingers-crossed:. No system files modification and no reboot required, but root is still needed.
Try it here and let me know what you think.

Hi,
Is there any apk or launcher or mod that can remove navigation bar at the bottom?
I want to setup a second user for my little kid, setting up the Nexus 7 for her.
But, I want to remove all kind of user interface except ability to start some games from the home screen.
So far, I have this setup:
*APEX Launcher
- notification bar removed
- dock removed
- desktop locked
- pinch-in gesture to go to the app drawer
But, I don't know how to remove the navigation bar.
There is an app which I used before "immersive full screen mode", but it seems it doesn't work on Lollipop 5.1.
Thanks.
I hid the nav bar using qemu.hw.mainkeys=1 along with lmt launcher.
But I'd like to hid the notification bar until I swipe down from the top.
Can you guys teach me how to do it?
Nova Launcher has it as an option...not sure that helps at all, just throwing it out there.

There is an app in the play store that can do that...but It's not perfect :https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gmd.immersive
I have been using this app to hide the nav bar - however with the keyboard security issues its pretty annoying the app explains this when you run it.
hopefully there could be a work around
I have a few questions after 2 days of usage. I'm used to Nexus, where almost everything is possible.
So few things, that annoy me.
Navigation bar:
Is it possible to make it transparent using (my favourite) Nova launcher? I set Nova to 18:9, but it's still not trasnparent ...
HW buttons remap
Is there any mod to remap HW buttons (when screen is off) to any other app than camera and QuickMemo
Lockscreen shortcut
Is it possible to show shortcuts on locksreen even if scrren lock method is "Swipe" - so without pin/pattern, etc...
If you choose any other method, shortcuts are there.
Stock dialer - search
Is somehow possible to set that stock dialer show all search result (when using T9 search) instead of just one and using down arrow to show others ...
Navigation bar should be transparent in Nova, try updating all apps to the latest versions.
I'm looking for HW button remaps too, for now i am using Tasker to do stuff for me.
I can set Lockscreen Shortcuts on "normal" swipe unlock, should work.
Not sure about the dialer, i don't see any extra settings anywhere for the dialer.

Yup, transparent nav. bar now works for me.
Locksreen problem->hmm, after reboot working now.
I changed dialer to ExDialer.
You can remap volume up with Key Plus.

Found that app, thanks.
But, remap is only usefull for led light on/off. If you set any other app (i tried dialer) phone wakes, but you still have to unlock it (swipe, pattern, whatever you have ...) before you see app.
