I'm using stable oos build 5.1.2. Is there any need to use a custom kernel? Does it really help if I use a custom kernel.

Help for what? If you have no problems, don't flash things that you don't need.
There's no general recommendation to use a custom kernel without an intention.
Every kernel has its own advantages over the others(and stock) where you must decide/try if you need it. And custom kernels can have side affects also, be prepared to face some...

Hi, I have been looking for a Custom Rom with a Custom Karnel that has a closest look to the original rom. Does any one has any opinions??
tnx
I would recommend the following, because of my experience with them.
1. SaberMod or RasSaber (the first ROM comes with Saber-toothed-Squirrel kernel)
2. Purity (comes with Purified kernel)
You can find those, along with tons of other ROMs to choose from, here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=34474641
From your post I'm gathering that you don't want to mess around too much with the settings and just have a solid, stable system. The stock "look" is easily obtained by just flashing a new ROM and not touch anything in the custom settings, after all. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Lots of people are running stock rom (rooted) with a custom kernel... You can even find pre-rooted/bb'ed stock rom like this one:

CyanogenMod FTW!

Exactly, Thanks very much, I'm really tired with beta and non-stable roms and I want something stock-like

No such thing as a deodexed kernel. All custom ROMs are deodexed.

Most custom kernels are generally stable, have a look in the index thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2006616
franco and faux are both popular choices, although I find faux settings a little complicated...
I used this rom, it's nice an stable, but now i wanna use a battery-friendly kernel. But NOT the AK.
Is there an another KERNEL?
I use this rom btw: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2359834

Any kernel that mentions it's CAF compatible should work for CM
We do not allow questions asking for best/good rom/kernels, please make up your own mind on which kernel to use, head over to the development section and see which best suits your needs.

Hi, just a quick question
Kernels come WITH the Rom? right?
...like if I flash a custom rom...no need to worry about the Kernel?
do I need a specific Kernel for a specific rom to run properly?
I've been flashing roms since ages but still dont know a thing about Kernels
thanks

Yes, kernels come with the ROM. If a ROM doesn't have a kernel, it won't boot (hence the name "kernel").
Usually, the most "proper" kernel for your ROM would be the one that came with it. Although sometimes, flashing a different kernel can improve performance/responsiveness/battery ..etc .... But it can also break things if you don't know what you're doing. It's always a good idea to make a backup before doing something.
Have fun.
As the title says. I switched to a custom stock ROM and started using the stock kernel with it, the stock kernel is so smooth, I fell in love with it. The performance wasn't the same in RR ROM. It provides the same battery backup as other kernels I have used..including quanganh's, X AnwarMov's and BORETS24's custom stock kernel. Can someone port the stock kernel for CM based ROMs ? Or is tank0412's custom kernel is what I'm asking for ?
Try this:
It a stock kernel which was ported to CM12.1/RR:

I'm using the US Cellular version which is the single SIM xt1607 and I've had no trouble unlocking boot loader and flashing twrp or any Rom, in stock Rom I was using xposed as well. Currently running axosp room with no issues.

Thank you bro. I previously used an MTK device and i know about flashing and rooting. But never used custom kernel. Can we use custom rom without any custom kernel? or is it necessary that i have to flash custom kernel for every custom rom?. Also give me links of bugless roms for our device?

I've been using the ASOPEtended Rom and have had no issues. Download can be found in the main Android development thread. As for custom kernels. I've been using squids kernel, but you can use the kernel built into the Rom with no issues

You flash the kernel just like the rom,I would flash the rom, then open gapps or bean gapps. Next I would flash supersu which you can find by doing a search of the forum, wipe dalvik cache, start finish setup then flash squid kernel. Also download kernel auditor from play store to get the most out of squid kernel. Helix kernel is another alternative based off squid kernel. Both squid and Helix allow you to change several options to improve battery life and performance.

Thank you bro. Installed Aospextended But there was a bug, camera and videos are stopping at a point. I flashed Helix kernel(Didn't tried squid kernel) then bug was gone, now everything is fine. I will try kernel auditor. Thanks for the guidance
