Volume on this phone is fairly good. My ringtones are loud. I keep below maximum. The vibrating earpiece when on a call is excellent. Out of all past cell phone earpiece speakers, this is the best so far. Very clear with no muddy sound.
Curious when u play music using bottom firing speakers, does the vibrating screen work in conjunction as dual speakers or no. Probably not.
Also during a call and u choose speakerphone, I take it that it's the bottom speaker that activates? If so, is it plenty loud and full?

I find this speaker to be loud and audibly clear for a single speaker. I keep my volume at 13. Setting it to 14-15 and it distorts.
The earpiece sounds better than any cell phone earpiece I've heard. The piezo screen vibration adds a touch of clarity.

Cool. Thanks mate!
The 3.5mm jack work also very well. The dedicated DAC make a great job with his HiFi mode on my headphones. I didn't try the provided earphones.

It's fine
Speaker is fine, not to bad but I heard better. It could sometimes be a bit louder, but also in this aspect is ok. I've changed to this phone from Samsung Galaxy S9, so of course, it's no competition in this regard, but dual sim + sdcard, much cleaner ROM and superb battery life make it worth for me (and not last the price). Hope for custom ROMs in the near future.
I was given this phone for free because it was destined for the bin because the speaker was so weak and crackly it was unusable. After many hours of experimentation I came up with a partial fix. The attached video link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bgf0gsxyd4A shows how to disassemble and clean the speaker grill which I would recommend doing. On re-assembly, I cut a piece of a credit card as a shim and put it in the speaker pocket of the black cover plate (the half of the pocket without the metal contacts) as shown in attached pic. This pushes the speaker firmly down which improves the sound. It is still not as good as my Moto G6 but its twice what it was making it barely useable. You can see if this will help before removing the black cover plate (with the screws) by pushing down firmly in the area of the speaker. It should get louder. A heat gun and guitar picks are a necessity to get the back cover off. The heat gun is handy to put the cover back on as well to get the glue to stick.
So far so good. I'd rate it 7/10.
I'd give it a 7/10. For rooted users, Viper4Android helps immensely.

Very good quality..
I would prefer it a Little more loud .
I find the call quality very good, no real difference from the S10+.
So far nobody complained about the mic on the phone, and I did not yet give my phone to someone else to call me on another phone from it to hear how the mic performs in phone call, but as for the in-display speaker, I expected worse. The sound is a bit flat, but I would say many people would not really notice there is no speaker on top of the phone. Sound leak when the speaker is at above 70% is a bit worse than on "normal" phones, but ever since phones started using ear piece as full size stereo speakers it was the same on other phones, you should be careful about your volume slider if you don't want people in 10 meter radious to listen to your phone call. Honestly it was one of my biggest concern, but it is fine.
But phone call on loud speaker I suspect will bring back problems with echo we did not have for years on premium phones. Have to test it soon, as I do use loud speaker often when I am in my office.
No issues with mine. I was concerned about the oscillating display technology but it actually works great. I have had a listen on the other end as well and the mic is very clear.
The receiver can not hear me clearly while talking using the loud speaker ?
Does anyone feels like the audio that came from the display is not that good? Sometimes I just can't understand what the person on the other side is saying ! And I remember that Huawei said that using this technology you could hear better in noise places and nobody but you could hear the talk , cause the sound comes from the screen vibrating ! Well is not working that good ....
So it means to say the acoustic speaker technology does not produce louder volume as Huawei Mate 10 Pro, one good example
https://consumer.huawei.com/uk/support/content/en-gb00737790/
i have problem with microphone. Remote can not understand what im saying. My voice is like muffled. This is not happening when im using speaker mode or headset. im suspecting that related with noise canceling.
Device has stock rom and fully upgraded/updated.
I bought this expecting to hate the acoustic display thing but to my delight I really like it! Been using the phone since September 2019 and I can say everything about calling is great. The reception is stellar, no sound leak, clarity is very good to great, and people on the other end, provided they have good hardware and network coverage, never complain about hearing me.
The mics sound good and I didn't receive any complaints.
The earpiece though has a very low volume compared with other phones like Galaxy S8, so I can't hear the other person so good.

It's really loud actually, surprisingly enough for speakers on the bottom. Definitely a high rating.
Great. not only on the bottom, but sound while watching a video, comes from the ear speaker as well...
The audio jack sounds great on my system
Sounds kinda muffled to me.
Clarity tends to be pretty good, loudness for the price is a B+ in my experience. I keep forgetting this is a "budget" device, so I keep wanting to compare it to flagships. It definitely holds it's own. O guess I just got used to the speaker on the LG G7 ThinQ, so it's hard to come back from that. But honestly, one of the better ones in its class!
Pretty happy with it......A lot of background noise can overwhelm it more than my LG phones-but my LG phones have many other problems, but loud (not stereo) audio!

Mine too. I wonder if mine is a defective unit, because everybody seems to be all over it and praising it.
I got issues hearing notifications and it just doesn't vibrate strong enough either.
I mean, I can see the quality control might be a lot looser on these devices, given the price.
Mine stopped working a month in... Got muffled during a call and then stopped altogether. Bottom speaker is messed up.. alarms don't work either

Unlike my previous phone the Mi 9, the 10 Ultra has proper stereo speakers.
They sound great for a phone. The high end is decently represented. There is bass but nothing crazy. Music just sounds full, perhaps comporable to a cheap small set of Bluetooth speakers.
One thing to note. There is one speaker on the bottom and one on the top (the design is like a small grill of tiny holes). I like this as it adds to the stereo separation in landscape. I can see how it would be better this way for games and videos. It just confused me at first!
I feel like the volume is as good as you can expect. Quality is average, not bad at all but many flagship phones I've heard just sound more clear. I'd give it 8/10 comparing it to the best of the best flagship speakers.
how does it feel holding the device in landscape for games or video viewing since the top speaker is on the edge of the phone as seen in photo below
i feel like my hands will be blocking the audio output from top speaker??

Top speaker seems a little quiet but no worse balanced than any other stereo phone has been.
does your hand block the top speaker in landscape mode? as the top speaker (not talking about the speaker grill) is actually on the frame/edge of the device

The top speaker is in the middle of the frame more or less, so when I'm holding it landscape it is visible over my hands, the bottom corners are on my palms
If you hold it so the bottom speaker is on the left, nothing is covered at all! (because the bottom speaker is off-centre)
It's really can not say good. Speaker sound not “transparent” enough and rough. iPhone 11 pro max sounds way more better than XiaoMi 10 ultra.
I have an issue with Mi 10 ultra.
During the call connecting, or during the call(be it normal voice calls or Video calls in whatsapp/duo), if the speaker gets activated on the phone, a strange noise comes out from the ear piece/ear speaker. This noise is more noticiable when i put the phone near my ear.
Have anyone experienced the issue? what shall i do, please suggest
Is it getting feedback from the mic / top speaker? As you get it closer, the mic will pick up the speaker more as the doing bounces off you being so close. I have not noticed it on mine but I will try to use speaker phone on a call to see.

Hi,
i am not sure about the bouncing thing, but i have not noticed the same in OnePlus 5t or samsung note plus, both on the same network.
Its noticiable more clearly, when you bring it near the ear.
you need not be to be an actual call, just dial a valid number and switch the speaker on , so that you can hear the ring and then bring the phone near your ear.

It's a new feature they claimed to clean the speaker...
Hi,
I want to buy this phone but I heard some people being annoyed by the fact that the vibration intensity is too low and when the volume is over the mid level the vibration is too loud and the phone seems like a big noisy speaker.
What's your feedback about that?
Thanks

I bought the phone on day one and I can confirm all you wrote: vibration intensity is weak and volume over the mid level make the back of the phone to pulse like a bass speaker.
I'm interested in other opinions about that two "problems" before take a decision and ask for a refund.
Except for all (and MIUI, I don't like it too much) is a pretty good phone (I paid mine 169€).
Hi!
Yes it's true, vibration is a bit weak and the back cover vibrate quite a lot when volume is loud.
For me those two "problems" are not problems when compare with all features and price but, for some people, they may be annoying.
Regards
i think there is some sort of bassspeaker (subwoofer) inside the phone leting it vibrate at the back. whene i place my ear at the back cover i can hear alot of base.
all in all, the sound is very good with the stereo system. the earpeace sounds very loud and clear like. (its a real speaker, not like other xiaomis only treble)
Yes guys, i think that the vibrations on the back isnt an issue, is normal in a phone with glass/plastica back. It helps with bass.

Hi, I recorded the vibration in this video. For me it's not annoying but it feels strange. https://youtu.be/vhPxVEXVfnQ?t=56
I really like the dual speakers and overall quality. Although yes you can "feel it roar"
Doesn't even need to be very loud.
This video per example
is very low and you can feel the phone vibrate alot
I think it's the z-axis vibration thingy that they advertise
The vibration is caused by the top speaker, turn that off vibration stops.
Go to setting, accessibility, mono speaker on and then slide the slider far right.

Can anyone else please try and confirm this. I was intending to buy this, but was hesitant cz of this issue of vibration. Also the phone weight.

Yes...switching to Mono and firing down speaker will stop the vibration...if you wanna use as regular ones than stereo mode, tested on my Device
I actually like the vibration, I don't find the issue with it. Speakers quality is amazing with nice bass + balanced mids & treble. There is almost no distortion when listening to max sound levels. It's even better than speakers from my past phone ZTE Axon 7.
I find that the best sound level for playing music is at 2 levels down from max volume as it has less distortion and it is still loud and clear. That's 87% of max volume.

But then how will we hear others when we're in a call?
I still have HTC m8 and it also have loud speakers and they also vibrating all the phone on highest loudness. For me its naturally normal. Speakers are made for higher power thats why are better heared, more power consuming due to more power, and vibrating all phone. I love it
