Which Gcam version are people using? - ZTE Axon 7 Questions & Answers

https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/
A list of Gcam mods, so far I have been testing the latest Arnova release and it doesn't work most reliably, sometimes camera has stopped, UHD video is jerky, slow mo 120fps works but lags and 240fps slow mo doesn't work at all.
This is all on latest Lineage 15.1 build and universal bootstack with A2017U.
Be interested if anyone has tried any other versions and has a good working combination? especially with v5.2 or v5.1 of Gcam.

Works best for me. Slow motion crashes, other than that everything works perfectly

Is there a gcam that works with stock Android 7.1?

2019
It seems like it's been a while since this thread has gotten updated, so I was wondering has anyone found newer versions or workarounds for any of the problems (like jerky slow-mo) on gcam?

Unfortunately, newer gcam 6.2.024 and 6.2.030 only work on android pie. (Not sure for pie custom rom)
Only gcam 6.1.021 is working on oreo firmware and front camera has green tint.

Wasn't there a fix for the green tint? Or was that for 5.x versions only?

There is an option in the gcam's settings:
"Remove green tint from front camera"

Weird lines in oxygen / franco

I am running the latest version of both oxygen and Franco kernel and have 2 weird display issue.
Photos taken from the stock camera have a thin green line down the left side when viewed in the gallery, and....
When scrolling, there is a yellow line when you reach the top or bottom of the screen and some other gradient type lines.
I tried searching but couldn't find any similar issues.
Ideas?
Sent from my Huawei u8800 using XDA App
The yellow line is normal. Just a visual effect when scrolling to the end of a list. Most Gingerbread based roms do this.
The green lines in photos is strange. I have seen a couple of reports about this now. Which country did you buy the phone and is it branded IDEOS or Huawei on the back?

Phone was purchased in New Zealand (2 degrees network) and is branded Ideos x5 - Huawei is not branded anywhere.
check this thread Looks like its a setting in the camera. change it to 3mp and it should be sweet.

My green line. Notice that the colors are somewhat wrong as well.
*Edit : I'm on MIUI 109160 with 240911 franco.kernel
Drop the camera app to 3mp and it should be OK. I'm getting the error when 5mp is enabled and only in the MIUI camera app. Other apps are fine :s
in all 5 test shots, i got the green line along the left side of my photos..
im using Oxygen r2 release with unmodified kernel, and taking photos with Camera ZOOM FX..
Weird lines with cm7 27/9 & 28/9 with or without Franco kernel also.
Hope to find a solution with 5mp too.
Edit: if you zoom, no matter how much, the lines disappear even at 5mp

Works thanks. Phone gets hot while using gallery on stock 5.1. Burst only takes 2 pics. Pictures look a lot better than stock camera app though. Thanks.
what about M9 camera? is that possible?
Installed the gallery only, and the button to launch the camera is not working on the Photo Editor app. Any way to launch any default camera present in the rom?
Camera doesn't install on stock 5.1? At least for me it doesn't ..

Thanks , can you add XCam too.
woow! Google camera is well optimized, camera fv5 is good too...but to have a better comparison of course need to have the LG Camera of stock firmware, i know you dont have it but for people who are in stock with stock camera app isnt fair to do this comparison!
one last question, im on stock, as everyone know the original camera dont have advanced controls like ISO, brightness, ambient light, so, which of this 4 cameras have those functions? because i didnt install them, and i feel my stock camera is taking photos with so much noise i dont know why!
thanks

Hey guys I Just moved back to cloudy 1.2 (Personal favorite) and I have been busy this couple of days, so maybe this weekend I will take the pictures with those cameras stock and xcam again and maybe with an object that has more color so we can check the saturation and low light pictures too.
You should use this mod, V1 to be exact, located here http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-lg-g3/themes-apps/optimized-lg-g3-camera-mod-lollipop-t3009111 and then install this camera, lenovo super camera, located here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2665714 and try a comparison image. I am anxious to see, because just from my use and viewing I see a major increase in quality with this mod anc camera. I have been using it from the beginning on LG G3 with CM or AOSP based ROMs.

Thank you for this. Could you please also upload a comparison of two night shots?
I installed only version camera Day, but I can try night version either
does not look very good imo. a bit more contrast and thats it. Its also not sharper than samsung cam.
I hope that next version will be better.
GCam - portrait. Kinda tricky, many obstacles. But good result.
Hey all,
I am interested in the s10e and would like to know how the camera performance is without a telephoto lens.
Would the GCam version have 'super res zoom' which would be almost equivalent to 2x telephoto lens?
Please let me know.
Thanks

It does and works like a charm as long as you dont go wild with advanced settings (bitrates, etc). It produces way better low light pics than Samsungs own night mode (you need to have newest update installed)

Night photos are actually better on the original camera (s10e exynos). I just tested it.

Potato Video Quality on Lineage OS RN7 Lavender

A few weeks ago I started using official LOS 17.1 on my Redmi Note 7 (Lavender).
Everything works flawlessly, it is smooth, fast, great multitasking & gestures.
The only real problem I'm facing is the video recording quality is utter garbage. It looks 10 years older, blurry, lack of detail, weird arctifacts. Not only that, the focus is really slow, I can't record in 60fps, it doesn't look as smooth as it should and it does a flickering thing when focusing. I tried many versions of gcam, the stock Lineage Snap camera, Open Camera.
But even on 1080p30 it looks awful, here I give you a real world example between stock miui and los video. It's a frame capture taken by video editing software, so no quality loss from screenshot, etc. I know it's not the best example but you get the idea by trying to read the text on the box.
https://imgur.com/a/blYTRCZ
I haven't had the time to test another custom rom yet, but from what little I could find googling I'm not sure if it would help.
Any ideas?
EDIT: Fixed. It's indeed a problem with LineageOS. It doesn't include camera blobs so videos look bad. I am now using Pixel Experience without problems. See last post for comparison

as I already explained in the post the problem is present on any gcam version, only when recording video. It seems to be a problem with LineageOS not including blobs specific to the device and camera. I fixed it by installing Pixel Experience.
