Nvidia shield won't update to 8.0 :( - Shield Android TV Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone, I was hoping someone could help me.
I've been enjoying my nvidia shield thoroughly since I purchased it second hand a few months ago, I can't fault it however I was made apparent that I could update it to android 8.0 with a new home screen which I would quite welcome to replace my current but unfortunately when I click update it says its up to date.
I'm wondering if my device is rooted or something, maybe this would cause it? My model number is p2897, it is my understanding I have the 2017 version which I presume is compatible with the new update?
If someone could assist I would be very grateful,
cheers.

You're not "missing" anything. The launch/roll out of 8.0 hasn't happened yet.
They rolled 8.0 out to a few (mainly pre-release testers) and quickly found out that there were some serious bugs. Nvidia stopped the official launch to fix the issues

Now. Germany.

They've retarted the rollout again. Just gotta wait for it now. I don't know if pre-release testers will see the update before everyone else or not.

What is the change, it still looks the same to me? Although I can't remember what exactly the original post said

Thanks for that.
I did think the last post from T-mobile seemed strange. The new info seems to tie in with what the user "Beards" has been telling us on here. He stated there was a last minute problem found with the official samsung release

Sorry to sound harsh but deal with it.
Samsung are not the only company who have delayed releasing 2.2, speak to HTC owners.
Surely it's better that Samsung delay it rather than give us a crap release?
The leaked Beta builds have been great for us to test and the feedback Samsung get helps them to improve the OS.
How many other companies producing Android phones have allowed customer to try out Beta build of Android?
I am glad there is a delay as it will give me time to get Kies working so I can even get the update.
Samsung support are useless on this so far!
And how do mac users get the update?

Lollipop update thread!

Hey! Just wondering, but has anyone recieved the 5.0 update yet?
Yes, i'm kinda anxious.
I'm looking forward to lollipop on the shield but I may not allow it to install when it's first released.
There are a few of my commonly used apps that either crash on start or have problems in lollipop (on the nexus 7), so I have a feeling that there are a significant number of apps that still need updating.
My shield runs so flawlessly right now that I'd really hate to mess it up.

All the sites reporting that it has started to roll out are wrong, they're all reporting this on the basis of one screenshot from one user a couple of days ago. We'd be seeing more reports here if the roll out was really underway. Hopefully we should start seeing those reports very soon.

Apparently it was reported that the roll out was due to start today fingers x.
No update yet in the UK on LTE version
No update here in The Netherlands (Lte) yet.
Is it worth pre-optimising apps to use the ART runtime (via developer options), while awaiting the update?
I'm told by my colleague who has a Nexus 4, that received the lollipop update, that it took about 50 minutes to apply the update. But he hadn't set his runtime to ART, I have.
I'm waiting to see which of my devices gets lollipop first out of my Nvidia Shield Tablet and my Nexus 4.
Still nothing
Nothing in Poland.... LTE version.
Does anyone think that we'll get double tap to wake with the update? Here's hoping that it's not an N9 kernel feature ??
No Lollipop here in the U.S. yet. Hopefully, it'll hit soon! Definitely getting exciting for this update.
No Lollipop in France yet
I've been compulsively checking for OS updates and not gotten one yet

No lollipop in Spain yet.
No Lollipop in UK yet
No lollipop in Mexico! Wait all night, and nothing I'm getting tired of waiting.

[UPDATE] New software update

I Just received a new update on my Mate 7 Switzerland.
New update: MT7-TL10 V100R001C00B129
Please see attachment for the changelog.
Looks like a real old update, it is no lollipop atleast
Me too in Switzerland, just got this version last Friday, we're still waiting for lollipop.

dude, for me was new and I wanted to report it, is it that wrong?
I received it one week ago (in Italy) and it's more stable than the previous... Less lag, better battery and better signal....
I don't know what huawei is waiting for lollipop, but these updates are useful imho
Maybe they are trying to get the Radio and baseband more stable before they push Lollipop out? Because my LTE in the US is kinda iffy sometimes, but it has gotten better with the new updates.

Expected date for releasing 7.0 on axon 7?

The 7.0 nougat just released recently, I'm jist curious that how long will the axon 7 get the 7.0 since it support daydream and i really want to try it.
For those who use zte's phone before, can you tell how fast would they release a new update?

Most seem to be saying October-November but honestly it seems as soon as they can get everything working since they seem to be wanting to be first to the market with Daydream to help promote the device and their company more in the premium market.
The only people who can give any real answer to that sort of question are the manufacturers themselves and they aren't going to tell you. Also, given that Daydream support isn't in the initial Nougat release but will come later in an update which is entirely in Google's hands as to when they release it. Google need to decide on a date for when it's ready and then tell ZTE who have to get it out the door at some point after Google announce its availability. A more pertinent question at this point is will ZTE wait for the Daydream enabling patch before releasing a Nougat ROM for the A7 or will they release one before that.
Tsk tsk, no asking for etas on XDA... Just kidding!
Always thank those who are helpful...and just ignore those who aren't.
Thread closed - this type of impossible-to-answer question just winds folk up.

[Q] Yoga 3 pro 2 gig

Hi all
I have this model purchased recently and was very surprised to find no software updates available ... Considering all I have read this seems strange.
Yt3-x90f_s100330_160328 security patch level is 2016-03-01
Am I the most up to date already? I know mm is due shorty(I hope) but performance is not that great right now. Traded in my tab s2 ... I know it's strange but live the projector.
I live in the UK if it makes a difference with firmware
Thanks all

If it doesn't offer updates you are on the latest.
If you are not afraid of getting your hands dirty there is a thread on rooting and decrypting your tablet. I saw huge improvements in mine when I ran unencrypted.
It may be better to stay on lollipop as until mm comes it is unknown if it offers improvements or will be able to run unencrypted.

Many thanks -will assume it left the factory up to date.
Had a go with the decryption and it worked a little but decided to go back to stock for the time being
