So with select SK LG G5's already getting the Nougat update to play with I can only assume that the rest of us will see it at some point sooner rather then later.... with that said... I will be getting my H830 next week and would like to root it.
For those that have already rooted theirs, and turned off updates... what are your plans when Nougat rolls out?
Remove root and take the OTA update?
Thoughts?
Today's morning all LG K10 K420 owners have received the notification no update to Android 6.0 version (V20a).
Now we have to check if KingRoot can root it!

Just tried and it dosent work. Now there are two options:
1.Use Kingoroot
2.Wait for exploit that works with Android 6.0
The second option seems to be more logical since the Marshmallow update was released 2 days ago.
i don't have any update yet, on lg bridge too :/

Are you sure you have the K420n model? Maybe auto update is disabled.
yes, it's 100% K420n but with Play brand

I think Play will be the last carrier to release Android 6.0 for this phone. You have to wait. If you are rooted then dont update or else you risk bricking your phone.
if it is true, pleake post screenshot with marshmellow on k420n
Guys, I don't suggest you to root your device. Marshmallow has Android Boot verification. What's it? It checks the all partitions if anything changed from stock. If it sees somethings has changed, might block your device. I just warn you, be careful and know what you'll do.
Yes I'm with 'berkantlz'. Chainsfire has developed a new way to successfully root Android 6.0 by not modifying the /system partition, but this is only for certain devices.
If anyone want to update to Android 6.0.1 on LG K10, it's OK. But by now DON'T TRY TO ROOT IT.

Can u take a screenshot and post it please?
I forgot to mention but Android 6 is only available (by now) por certain phone companies, not all, even if you bought the same model.
But you have available to download and install Android 6.0.1 KDZ file from (Orange = Spain and Plus = Poland) companies, that if is not the official LG firmware (without phone's companies bloatware), you could install the last android version for it phone model.
For links, visit the LG K10 WhatsApp Group.
When called in to lg netherlands cust support today to ask for the carrier-free update status they told me the guys in seoul still had to test some things before they flip the switch. So lets hope the korean todo list is not too long...
marshmellow
LG K10 (K420n)Poland Plus , yesterday received 6.0 (778mb ota) V20B
see screenshot
Play (Poland) have got the v20b too
K430TR Turkey model has got V20y yesterday. It's already shipped with 6.0 but yeah
I have a marshmallow for about a week and i can say something about that
The first is battery, it's working shorter (Screen-On-Time 3h 30m) but Doze mode is perfect
I have got themes option and SmartWorld (i know it was in LP already but my carrier turned it off) and many new functions.
Light sensor and VPN works better.
Now On Tap worked good too but it turned off and i don't know how to turn it on back.
What about performance? The same like in LP, but it seems to me that animations is bit longer than on LP (just longer animations, no lags). Antutu? LP - 28k pts, MM - 27k pts.
After update i had problem with refreshing available wi-fis list and bluetooth just turning off after trying to connect with a speaker but hard reset helped and i haven't this problems now.
On LP i had lags on opening notifications panel with the navbar button, on MM it works perfect.
When I poweroff the screen and poweron back, i had about 1-2% of battery less. MM - no problem with this.
Don't Disturb Mode is quite difficult to use but works fine.
If you have questions ask here.
@edit my friend with nonbrand K10 (Poland) said that his phone is getting charged faster
K10 lte k420n slovakia T-mobile update to MM ? When will be ?
Hi Folks,
Looking at getting a used V20, I want to make sure I get a phone that I can root. I am not sure what is the latest update that will work.
This is currently the version on the phone, anyone know if this is rootable?
Thank you
15a is not rootable, however, you can roll back to a version that is, and then upgrade manually back to 15a if you want.

Thanks Brian
Just saw this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/v20/how-to/lgv20-vs995-verizon-aio-post-06-19-2017-t3624326
Looks like you use the uppercut tool and the KDZ 13A, then you can use dirty santa to root
I appreciate the response, I am coming from a 2 year old Moto X Pure....
The V20 is a great phone .. there aren't many devs left around, but welcome

Hi, I've recently moved on from my ZUK Z2 to V20 and I'm loving this phone. Recently discovered very little-to-none info about my puerto rican V20 though. Its H910PR v10j claro stock rom with 1st December Security Patch.
Can anyone guide me if there is a possiblity to root/TWRP this set with failsafe? I'm just noob to these recent terminologies about ARB/flashing etc for the case of V20. I have had G3 before but this V20 stuff is totally new to me.
Also, if in future, LG releases Oreo for V20, will the claro v20 get it?
Kind regards,
Since you are on the December security patch, you can use the normal DirtySanta root method.
As for getting Oreo, even if Claro doesn't give you Oreo, you will be able to flash the H910 version (if ANY V20 gets Oreo -- I am starting to have my doubts).

I pasted version screenshot from LGMenu. Please advice.
did you make it ?
any good news?
Hi everybody,
I am using LG V20 (LG-F800K) Korean version. Yesterday, I updated it from Android 8 to Android 9.
However, both on Android 8 and 9, I didn't find the "Network Mode" function to switch to 4G only.
I have read a rooting guide, but it's for Android 7 and LG-F800L, not for my device model and operating system!
I want to ask is there any way to root my device? And where is the "Network Mode" function?
Thank you very much! ♥
there is no way rooting pie. btw hows the android 9 performance on v20. should i upgrade my f800l or not?

I don't know! My device is F800K, not F800L, so I am wondering if it has root support?
Try 5457#*800# using your phone dialer & choose LTE
You have to root using Nougat only. Then upgrade in the right way to not loose the root. If you OTA you will just loose root.
All f800 users should have kernel with static screen fix to use Android pie with root. But we still don't have such kernel. It'll be perfect to have an mk2000 kernel for pie.
