hey guys, i have problem with recording audio, i have microphone suppression. also when using snapchap chat or instagram sroty videos the audio is suppressed. however, recording video in gcam, the audio seems to be normal.
this happened ever since i flashed custom roms, the first was crdroid and now liquid remix i have had the same problem. on the stock rom i didn't have this problem

I think it's an issue with all custom roms, microphone is horrible on custom roms.
The secondary mic (on top of the phone) doesn't record sound in Instagram and Snapchat, only Gcam
As for a fix? I have no idea

I've seen fixes for the exact same problem but other Xiaomi devices such as redmi note 3 and 4
I've tried using the same files on Android P beta but that didn't work
The only workaround (a rather not plausible one) is to stay on stock rom until someone knowledgeable can fix it on custom roms
any fixes for this yet ?
why is anyone not trying to fix this problem?

First off, thanks to all the devs that have made flashing custom ROMs on the s4 possible! My hat is off to you.
So noticed that the camera app in Slim rom does not record audio. The video recorded fine (seemed a little choppy though).
Can anyone confirm this issue?
Also, I have noticed that my WiFi speeds vary a lot on this rom. Sometimes I am unable to even download an app from the play store.
Has anyone else been experiencing this?

So the problem is that no matter what custom ROM I use the mic volume is incredibly low. Talking on the phone I cannot be heard at all, if I put it on loudspeaker I can be heard faintly. Same problem for any app that uses the microphone, like sound recorder, recording a video, it barely picks up any sound.
But what's strange is that everything works perfectly on on Stock. I've installed custom ROMs on this before and last used cm10 before I upgraded way back. But now the problem also exists on that CM10 ROM. Any ideas how to fix it?
Additionally I've tried disabling the google now search listening (which fixed the same problem on my OPO) but does not work here. I've tried the following ROMs: CM10, CM11, CM12 all official nightlies and Crdroid 5.1.1.
Very frustrating as otherwise CM12 works perfectly and I intend to give this phone to someone!
So testing it further I found out that it works fine using google now and search. So either the internal microphone is disabled or maybe noise cancelling is messed up.

the problem i'm facing on my Oneplus 5 is snapchat video camera in particular, The sound on the video starts of good the first second but quickly turns quiet and muf,
I must say I didn't have this problem on Oxygen OS but I am using the custom ROM for Xposed,
Vanilla Custom ROM didn't fix it.

I seem to be having an issue with the microphone on my Axon 7, although only in Instagram and Snapchat. Whenever I record a video, the sound is strange and almost nonexistent. If I use my normal camera app or the recorder app, it records and the audio has no issues. I also have no issues with call quality. I have searched this issue quite extensively and have not found a solution yet.
Currently my phone is running Lineage 15.1 unofficial (15.1-20180605)
I appreciate any help, and let me know if you need more info

probably just lineage being lineage, you'll have to talk to unjustified or orden
I would like to preface this by saying I love all the Custom ROM's available, especially the Android 10 ones. But, I've noticed one problem shared by all the ROM's I've tested so far (almost all). It's that the mic quality is simply horrible on every single one of them. The first thing I do when I download a Custom ROM is to test the mic using the Google Recorder app and so far, no custom ROM has even come close the loudness and quality of stock. I wouldn't mind if the mic quality was bad, but that's not the biggest problem. The biggest problem is that the mic VOLUME is extremely low. I have to shout while calling just so the other person can hear me. How do I fix this problem? The same problem cropped up a lot on Pie ROM's too. I've tried editing the mixer_paths.xml but I don't really know where to look.
I would greatly appreciate if anyone could help me. Cheers.

Use kernel with mic gain and increase it to your liking.
