I wanted to put this idea of a model release form application up in hope some developer will see the need for this app for the android. They have several of them for the iphone and very useful. There are quite a few photographers out there with androids that would buy an app like this. I have even thought of getting a iphone just for the application.
The best one out there for the iphone is called easy release and I have used it on a friends iphone and it does make getting a model to sign the contract really easy and especially good to have on the fly if you you need to snap a picture and you want to get a release and not have your forms on you.
Sean
I concur. As a photographer and Android user I could really use an application that would allow me to have a model sign a release form electronicaly on my htc hero.
It would be cool if one could link a flickr photograph to this form.
I'm attaching a sample form.
Looks likes easy release that makes the app for the iphone has already developed one for the android and its in beta test right now. I am testing the application right now and its a great app. The signature parts is very smooth and you can get real look signatures. Very impressed.
Just go to their facebook page (easy release) and they are looking for more beta testers

Great find, thank you ... but by the time I got my request in they said no more beta testers
Thanks Rafal, we have all our testers already but thank you very much for
offering to help us out!

The Android version of Easy Release is now available in the Android Market
The Android version of Easy Release is now available in the Android Market
The new and updated version of Model Release Pal for Android was just released today.
And it's free
"Release Lackey" is now in beta...
I recently released an app on the market for creating model releases as well as other relatively simple legal documents... while it is in "beta" it sells for only 99 cents. The beta period is expected to last for another 4 weeks (until June 13, 2011) or until I'm confident there aren't any strange issues with any of the many Android devices out there.
Search for "Release Lackey" on the Android Market or go to LackeySoft.com with your PC and click on Release Lackey to learn more...
At least while it is in beta I promise refunds for anyone who purchases it and decides it is not for them within 48 hours. Just "email the developer" and I'll give a manual refund through Google Checkout.
I'm always looking for feedback, thanks in advance
Just wondering if there were any other developers willing to work on the A7 or (more preferably) the A7+. Dexter seems to have quit or lost interest his development permanently on either devices (I think he doesn't have a physical device to work with anymore, but I don't remember where I heard this). The last time he logged on to Tablet Roms was on "04-27-2012", and the last time he logged on to XDA was, well, today actually but he doesn't seem to have any interest in the eLocity forum section. He DID leave us with quite a lot of quality ROMs to work with, especially since the kernel was released for the + in March.
If there aren't any developers willing to work with the A7/A7+ because they don't have a physical device, I would willingly offer remote testing on my A7+ (AKA they give me the compiled ROM(s) or whatever and I try it out and give feedback). It just seems like such a shame to leave both devices with nothing better than a buggy (but still awesome) Honeycomb or a working stock 2.2. ICS seems like it would be doable, again especially since the kernel was released.
I will try to contact the user "chinabull" in the referred link as he seemed like he knew what he was doing when he said "It seems to have all the driver source code we need."
And I have also posted this over at TR.
EDIT- Turns out I can't send PM's to chinabull here, forgot about that. I'll find some other means of communication.
EDIT2- I'm crazy- the message got through; chinabull messaged back! And... he said that he already returned his A7+. So we've got no leads there.
If anyone knows some devs who haven't even heard of the A7/A7+ but might be willing to pick up where Dexter left off, please contact them or let me know so that I can contact them.

I would be willing to pony up CDN $20 towards the purchase of one for a talented (and dedicated) dev to work with. Here in Canada they are available as refurbs for about $90 from places like factorydirect dot c a ..
Anyone else want to donate some dinero ?
Cheers
Sorry for the late(ish) reply, I was out of town.
I don't have any money to donate, sadly, as I just spent it on the A7+...
But, like I said in the OP, if you are willing to work from afar we could do that.
It's a shame it's dead. Prices are around $90 in the US too. With all the china pads out there getting 2nd tier dual core processors with 600 res screens for very little more, it's easy to see why this would go by the wayside. One plus would be built in bluetooth which no china pad has at anything close to this pricepoint, and it probably has a better battery than many of them as well.
We've got someone over at Tablet Roms who will be working on the A7+! He is just waiting on the tablet to arrive.

I'd donate if you're talking about developing for the (older) A7. I still use mine and it would be nice to see a fresh rom for it.
I'd be in if I didn't just pick up the ZTE Optik from Sprint. Can't beat free and can't beat running JB via CM10. That 800 res is quite nice.
I'd greatly appreciate someone picking up work on the A7+. I still haven't flashed the newer firmware with the blank screen from sleep fix because I was holding out hope for a new custom rom. I'd have to root and install the outdated gapps again... And I'm sure we don't have unreasonably high expectations. I'd just like a rom without those awful elocity apps, doesn't black screen when I wake it, with google play, and with functioning hardware, anything more is welcome but uneccessary.
Ok his name is jam4 over at TR - check the thread for updates http://www.tabletroms.com/forums/elocity-a7-general-discussion/5362-any-other-devs-a7-a7.html
@dibmem jam4 is developing on the +, sorry
@frankwg83 yes he is working on honeycomb at the moment, but it sounds like your problems would be easily fixed... it takes 5 minutes and a flashdrive to install the Play Store and a root explorer and a 1-click-root app to get rid of the bloatware

Think he would develop on the A7 if he had the hardware? I'm the type of person who'd buy one second hand just to donate it to a willing and capable dev.

Maybe, I don't know. You'd have to ask him yourself - http://www.tabletroms.com/forums/members/jam4.html
"I am about 2 weeks out from releasing a working Honeycomb build for the A7+. Let me know how many of you are interested, either by pm or an email to [email protected]"
Everyone go PM or Email him!
So...2 weeks out? How'd that go?
Btw, the A7+ is at 1saleaday again for $70 this time. I'm willing to buy one and ship it to a developer if that's a hurdle since I'm pretty sure there are enough people out there that would want a solid Honeycomb or even Gingerbread firmware. I don't have the time/obsession to figure out the coding myself.
Heads up to those interested.. I think the kickstarter campaign is going to start soon. Looks like it could be pretty decent if the hype is anything to go by.
Hopefully they'll involve communities like this one in their development, it'd certainly help brand awareness!
Edit : In fact they have a pre-launch fb group here - https://m.facebook.com/groups/577584915748399
Edit 2 : Any devs interested in the watch should join, they genuinely seem interested in community participation, so any feedback from you guys would be good.

Congrats guys, hope it's a step above the rest. It is refreshing to see companies interact with the paying public like that, I know pebble did really well with their campaign, but I'm not sure how open they were to suggestion from the community.
Unfortunately (fortunately) I procured a fenix 3 for my birthday recently and it suits me down to the ground, otherwise I'd have definitely grabbed one of these.
Looking forward to the Onyx to add to my collection: seems to offer a lot of possibilities and upgrades for the smart watch communities...wondering if I'm developing a watch addiction...12 steps here I come................

I've received mine - it's easy enough to get Android APKs and Wear APKs on to it, but it lacks a browser and account manager so many apps will crash out. However, many also work perfectly fine, particularly once you modify the DPI.
It's a lovely watch - the best I've owned, although the Gear S running Android is also very functional in a different (ie fully Android) way.
Rooting is problematic for now - most of the usual apps aren't successful at rooting. Has anyone found a successful process?
No problems with the CPU and it charges quickly wirelessly. All in, a lovely watch.
Question - other than the custom OS features, is it worth more than the £99 Gearbest watches? I'm not sure, but it's certainly stylish.
I'd buy it at £130, but I think that's the price point all good smartwatches should be at.

Hello developers of XDA!
I'm Rox, a Razer Vanguard and i'm here to let you know that the Audio Source is now available for the Razer Phone 2! You can now find the complete source code on the Razer Developers website here
I'm glad you all now have access to the full open source material and we can finally see some movement on the custom development we all know from Android
I would also like to take this opportunity to ask the developers of XDA for some feedback. Is there anything stopping people in particular supporting the device in the community with custom ROM's and Kernels? And is there anything that Razer could do to help?
This is by no means any assurance but I will gather all your feedback and pass it on.
The community is the most important thing to a product and I will continue to raise the communities voice as much as possible.
Thank you so much for the time!

What's a Razer Vanguard?
It's like their tech support reps, except they're a little more involved. Already dealt with one on their site, and he was very helpful and responsive. Most replies were within just a couple hours. Seems like these guys actually use the hardware they support, and don't treat the users like idiots. Nice to see this, especially since they just laid off most of their phone division. Hopefully this is a sign of better things to come. This phone is a beast.

That is essentially it! Thank you for the kind words, I'll be sure to pass it on to the team. We definitely do use the hardware we help with and for me personally the Razer Phone is my specialty but we all have experience with most Razer products.
I think there are two main things I would like to see:
1. Earlier factory images and the release of ota updates. It would be nice for those who have yet to get pie, for example.
2. Though I realize it's unlikely, the release of the device tree would really be a big boost to rom and kennel development
I second earlier factory image and source releases.
On another note. The sources we have currently had a lot of header/build issues. As other Devs have pointed out(elsewhere) this was probably due to the sources being built out of the device tree but they still seemed weird as I've never seen that before and can't make out how a device tree would have changed that. Would it be too much to ask that some time be taken to scrub the sources better and maybe even have some basic build scripts or instructions? I realize this is contrary to my first point but it's the next best thing to a device tree.
It would be nice to get full android 9 images the same as android 8.1
I still do not understand - why there is no support for aptx, aptx hd, ldac?!!!
And you can't even install it like on most other phones, maby razer developers know how fix it?
Also, due to a strange signature system, most gsi roms do not work.
How about Razer Phone 1?
Now I'm not a gamer, just got a used RP1 from a moderator on the Swedroid forum quite by accident, as it were.
I really quite like it, the Sharp IGZO screen especially, same as on my Xiaomi Mi Mix1, which was the main reason I got it.
I have had zero problems with it so far.

I was informed this is how all new MSM kernels are - they don't build properly out of the AOSP tree (it looks like Android's build system supplies some additional flags to the kernel make system to make it use some prebuilts and AOSP headers over the kernel-provided ones). I don't think this is unique to Razer, since it's a Qualcomm thing.
I've got build instructions for the kernel in my thread too if you need them.
Of course, I could be relaying incorrect information but this does seem like it's typical of Google/Qualcomm to be changing Open Source projects to fit their internal needs...

Can you guys get in contact with CurtisMJ on this forum and see about implementing his amazing Chroma logo alternative app, integrating features of it with the current Chroma logo app, or otherwise allowing us non-root users to systemize it?
https://forum.xda-developers.com/razer-phone-2/themes/beta-logo-oss-implementation-lighting-t3893981
It has a lot of features I want from the Chroma app, but I'm weary of rooting, especially now that Android 9 Pie has come out and no factory images for 9 Pie are on the Razer dev site. If you even wanted to put it in the next update and give users the option of which Chroma app they wanted to use, I'm sure CurtisMJ would think that was pretty neat, though you'd have to ask him. I mean, I'd personally pay to use it if it meant I didn't have to root. Maybe integrate it with the stock Chroma app, and charge $5 to upgrade to CurtisMJ's features, and then split the cash with him. Idk.

I wonder lol.
Interestingly I did see some code in the Chroma app which can grant use of the service to unprivileged apps. I think it was used to whitelist some other Razer component. Just opening up that functionality to users so they can "grant" Chroma access to apps of their choosing might be enough. Otherwise, if I could get a signed stub in the next OTA that'd be cool (and ridiculously unlikely, just to be clear)
Great comments everyone keep them coming!

That's my goal atm to get the developers points of view and requests I'm proud of the community helping each other out so this is my next focus.
So far my feedback list has faster Factory images, and source code, device tree, more Audio Codec (APT-X AND LDAC) and a couple of other things I can't get into.
If anyone else thinks of anything lmk and I'll add it to my list to send on. I hope the right person sees it but again there is zero assurances that any of it will happen but this is where the voices matter.
Thanks again everyone!
Might be a little off topic, but since this is a gaming phone, why can't I pair my old ps3 controller? I even tried an old usb Xbox 360 controller, which a usb host test app successfully found the device. I would have hoped this would have been built in, being a gaming phone and all. I'm on pie and rooted, even when trying multiple previous methods of trying to get something the work, all the phone wants to do is charge the connected device.

Unfortunately the PS3 controller doesn't connect and act like a good Bluetooth or USB device. There is an app called sixaxis controller on the play store that allows you to connect a PS3 controller via Bluetooth, but it needs root and I don't believe it works anymore. There's also an app for wired PS3. It's not a Razer issue, it's a controller issue.

Right, I tested it all. That app gets to the part where it tries to pull the Mac of the phone's Bluetooth adapter and simply can't. I'm leaning more towards the an Oreo/Pie issue. Seems to be driver related.
Hello friends,
As you all already noticed, there has been some breakthrough in development for our (aging) device. @followmsi did a great job maintaining the 3.18 kernel, bumping up our device to the latest android versions where @tschmid took care of providing us with the pixel experience builds. Recently we managed to get project treble running and some time later @Vartom surprised us with a proof of concept a 4.9 kernel, ported from the shield TV which shares the same Nvidia chipset. This breakthrough means that we are on the edge of a bright future for the Pixel C for as long as Nvidia continues to support and update their 2015/2017 shield line. We expect this to continue for a couple more android releases.
Now we got to the point that @Vartom, with his knowledge, is the only one capable of porting the drivers to get everything running on our system and he has spend numerous hours already in his free time. On the shield development, there is also 1 lead developer (Aaron Kling) who maintains custom lineage builds for the complete shield line. I saw a big advantage in merging our 4.9 project in their trees and continue development together (https://gitlab.incom.co/groups/CM-Shield). Unfortunatly, Aaron does not own a Pixel C tablet, which means that he can not support Vartom in further development of the kernel which has hit dead ends on some problems.
By this, I am setting to set up a donation thread to donate a used Pixel C device to Aaron. On ebay they sell around 150 - 200€. It will be shipped straight from the auction to Aaron. I would like to ask the pixel C community to support them by donating a small amount to keep our device up to date and bring new features like 4K youtube playback, faster performance, ... to our device. I will start with a donation 20€ and I hope we will reach the target soon to provide Aaron a development device. All updates on the shipping status and tracking will be shared here. The maximum amount of donations is set at 200€. If the device costs less, the rest amount will be transferred to Vartom for all the hours he spent on getting the 4.9 kernel in the alpha 3 state.
Thank you for your time and we hope to continue work on our great device for many years to come!

225 USD donated, we reached our goal, thank you all so much!
We found a good deal on Ebay and did not hesitate to buy the item for about 150 USD, It will be shipped straight to Aaron. (https://www.benl.ebay.be/itm/184346276104)
I transferred the remaining 75 USD to Vartom.
Please remember and take in account that Aaron, as well as Vartom do this as a hobby in their spare time so the pace of development will depend on this.
Progress can be monitored on gitlab (https://gitlab.incom.co/CM-Shield) and we will post further updates on the 4.9 kernel thread on xda.
Thanks again!
Thanks to everyone for the help in the form of collected funds for the purchase of the tablet. And also thanks for the fact that the remaining part of these funds from the purchase was transferred to my paypal account. This is the first donate I received for working on this tablet.
Hi all,
I hope everyone is safe during these difficult times. I want to share some updates about the current status of the 4.9 kernel. It does boot and seems to function fairly well but there are several issues which haven't been sorted out yet.
From Aaron:
1) Sound on the latest kernel. Vartom had it working using an older kernel branch, but no one has got it straight on the current.
2) Embedded memory controller stuff. Vartom has that working with a massive revert of common code. We should be able to make that work using stuff similar to what icosa (Nintendo switch) does. This and sound are the main blocker for merging everything to my main shield branches.
3) Gamma issues. This is common to all shield builds, but it's pretty stark on the dragon tablet builds. Once (if) this is fixed for one device, it'll be fixed for all. It can be worked around by disabling hwc overlays in dev settings, but that's not something I want to enable by default and ship. Kills performance of the ui.
4) Power management. LP0 has issues (Deep sleep, ..), but that's not the main issue. Reboot, power off, etc. None of those actually work. And I can't figure out what the bootloader is actually looking for. If I try to reboot, the device just hangs after everything powers down. Have to do a hard power off and turn it back on.
Ill inform about the status as soon as there is improvement.

I can see that Aaron is busy with Lineage 18 trees for Nvidia devices. Not particular just for ours but all of them so I think that work on the kernel side of the pixel C is not yet continued. You can follow his work here:
https://gitlab.incom.co/groups/CM-Shield/-/activity
I will check if we could do a kernel build for lOS 17 in it's current state for people to try.
