Last week while I was watching youtube the screen suddenly turned grey. When I switched between the tabs using alt+tab the output was normal, but as soon as I chose an app to go to the screen turned grey again. The sound seems to work normally. The screen for the menu under settings is working as well. I have tried factory resetting it without any positive results. I also checked to see if my other shield was having the same problem but it worked just fine. I'd appreciate any ideas as to what the problem could be.

please help me with my phone or let me know if it has happedn to any one else
Well i was on my phone and everything was fine however when i reset my phone with the stylus it turned back on but the screen was just black... now i can touch the screen and i hear the clicks and beeps as if the touchscreen is working but i cant see anything
I have a black screen also
I'm having a similar issue. It just began a week ago. My screen began fading out but when i'd open the keyboard it return to normal for a little while and then start to fade again. now its completely black and i can't use it at all.
i charged my phone completely and when i turned it back on it worked and it seems thats all i did because everything else was not helping but when i charged it complete it worked again
I dont know what happened, but the stock browser quick controls stopped working for me in landscape mode. If I turn the tablet portrait, the controls work fine on both sides. If I then go back to landscape, the controls only work on the left side.
I specifically remember using these controls in landscape on both sides last week. I decided I would try dolphin for a while, but eventually came back to stock. This is when I noticed the controls not working.
I went as far as performing a factory reset and it STILL happens after I reset. I'm totally stumped. I am really mad about this, because I KNOW I used the controls a week ago.
UPDATE:
What the heck? Now it seems to want to work. I had to slowly swipe in from the right on a severe up angle. Almost swiping straight up. The quick control then appeared on the right. After it appeared that first time, now it appears every time no matter what direction I go. Its like it was stuck in some weird calibration or something. I dont get it. Oh well.
After hanging up from a phone call the top left corner of my screen was really bright. There were two vertical lines down the screen and the screen was transparent and flickering. I could still see my home screen and the screen was functional. I restarted the phone and it was still acting up. Only after turning the phone off for a few mins did it stop. Has anyone else experienced this or have any ideas on what would cause it? I haven't had any issues with the phone, no drops or anything. Currently running aokp with matrix kernel.

I had this issue too. My phone just arrived today. In my case the problem occurred after power cycling the phone (trying to get the WiFi to connect.. grrrr) The boot process was fine but once I got to the launcher my screen was flickering like a strobe light. I tried to power off and back on and it still happened. I didn't give it several minutes like you did so I'm not sure if it would have gone away. Since I hadn't really configured the phone yet I simply did a factory reset and it was fine. Seems to be a software issue. I hope it doesn't happen again but if it does I'll see if just leaving it off for a while helps. I hope so because I don't want to have to factory reset all the time!

Hi guys. The screen on my X suddenly stopped working and is always black. The phone still works, but I cant see anything.
After many, many, many tries, I was able to get the screen mirrored to my TV, but the screen resolution is way off and/or it is really zoomed in. (see attached photo) I probably changed a setting while I was blindly trying to cast the screen to my TV.
I've casted the screen to the TV many times without any problem (before my phone screen died), so I dont think it's an issue with the TV or Chromecast, but I don't want to rule anything out. I don't want to disconnect and reconnect the phone from the TV/Chromecast because I may not be able to reconnect.
Any ideas as to how to fix this? Thanks.
I have noticed an issue with the new 2019 Fire HD 10 tablet when using the Youtube app. While watching a video the screen randomly goes black like the screen timed out but the sound continues. Also if you use the power button to lock the screen while watching a Youtube video, the screen turns off but the sound continues. I've tried this on two different 2019 HD 10 tablets with the same result. My old Fire HD 8 2017 does not show this issue. Has anyone else noticed this issue or have a solution?
I've already contacted support about the issue with no fix. This is actually the reason I've tested it with a second device.
The screen timeout is set for 2 minutes but it randomly turns off in 2 minutes or longer, or sometimes doesn't turn off and works normally. It seems like most of the time it doesn't recognize a video is playing at some point and turns the screen off while leaving the video playing and you hear the sound.

That causing an issues from OMX codec or screen timeout. Can you enable stay awake in developer options and connect charger to work.

I'm sure I could turn screen timeout off in order to force the screen to stay on but that's not a fix. I would be more likely to damage the screen by forgetting to manually turn it off at times. Also, that wouldn't fix the issue with when I want to lock the screen using the power button and the video continues to play.

Yes it seems to not have the issue. I did have to turn background play off to avoid the power button lock, continued play. It's strange because that could be the issue with the original Youtube app but it shouldn't have background play since its not a premium account. Nor do I see an option to turn background play off in the original app if it was on, only the Pip on/off option.
The other issue is getting the Youtube Vance to show in my kids Freetime profile. I havent found a simple way besides a folder app which shows all apps.
