hi guys, I am having a problem with my lg v2o Canadian variant, when I connect it to my win 10 laptop, i hear the chime and change connection setting to file transfer , on the laptop i navigate to the dcim/camera folder in internal storage and see 2 photos, the weird part is that on my phone using the file manager that same folder show over 39 gbs of photos. I have tried the different settings, such as charge only, photo transfer , midi etc but I still can only see two photos.
Last thing I tried was hooking up a different lg v20 to see if it was my laptop but with the other V20 I was able to see all the photos stored in the same folder on the phone and the laptop, this is very frustrating because my phone is saying my storage is running out, so I want to move my photo before I delete or do a factory rest.

Reboot both the pc and phone
When you plug the phone in choose MTP
Transfer and copy the DCIM folder to the pc without opening it.
39 gigs of photos will take a while to copy
Like over half an hour so be prepared to wait.

i tried turning both the pc and phone off and restarting, but still not loading the photos on pc, i tried putting in a 200 gb sd card and copying the photos from the internal storage to the sd card, then deleting the photos o n the internal, then copying the photos back. This did change a bit cause now it is showing a few more then 10 photos. Still not showing all of them though.

if you copied the photos to an ext_sdcard and delete them from the phone you should be good.

I just copied some photos from my phone to a windows xp computer, disconnected the phone, took some more pictures and wanted to copy them over. So the phone shows up, i clicked on DCIM and Camera, selected the photos, CTRL+C and CTRL+V on my computer, but nothing happend. So i tried drag+drop, but nothing happend, even after several tries. So i thought the computer has a problem (it's Windows!) and i restarted the PC and i still saw the pictures, but couldnt copy them. So i restarted the phone and what happend? The internal memory is empty (empty empty!)... And as it's mounted as MTP device there is no way to use a data recovery software like i could do with SD cards... i didn't like MTP devices before, but now i really hate the MTP protocol - something like that never happened to any other of my phones with internal and or external memory and which were all able to use USM aka mass storage mode. And who invented MTP? Microsoft...
Beside that:
* Windows 8 doesn't show its nice copy progress window when copying to an MTP device --> https://www.google.com/images?q=windows+8+copy
* Windows 8 doesn't offer copying with skipping existing files in the target (only copy new files). on the first match, it asks to overwrite. if you disagree the copy process stops.
So, can the phone see the contents, or have they entirely vanished from the phone's side as well?
it's neither here nor there, the data is just gone. thankfully i uploaded almost all photos to the cloud some days ago and everything else could be found somewhere, except the media files from whatsapp. so my concern is less about the lost data than that it happens again and i always found mtp slower and less reliable than mounting as a block devices (mass storage). beside that there is still alot windows software out there that doesnt work with mtp devices. the only benefit is that you can access the data on both systems at the same time. in general most points are already known, i just wonder what happend. is there anything for mtp devices like "safely remove hardware" for mass storage devices?
You could always switch protocols and "mount" it as a "camera device", in which case I believe you would have access only to the DCIM folder on the virtual SD. And, you if you need to transfer non-photo files around, you can always just resort to an on-device file explorer, moving from the Dropbox folder in and out, if you use that. Dropsync works really well for reasonably-sized files.
thanks for the hint. cause of that i already installed foldersync to backup files in the free 50gb box.net cloud which i never needed before. but it's never a bad idea to have a backup *sigh*
when i plug in to access my pics on the sd card and i open the directory it will show the file names but the pics are sooooo slow to show. I have no idea why this is.

Unfortunately that's not really something you can fix. That's a result that the S4 connects to the computer over MTP instead of Mass Storage mode (like a USB Drive). MTP is safer than Mass Storage but it's also a lot slower since the PC doesn't have direct access to the memory device. As far as I know, there's no good way around this.
I bought the Aquos (reluctantly) a couple of weeks ago and am not overall impressed, but am stuck with it for now...so am dealing.
But I have having major anxiety (OK, maybe just major annoyance) about the storage issue. I have a 64gb card attached and it is fairly useless. I can't move apps over since the firmware doesn't support app2sd (i think that is what i saw one Dev put on their site).
OK, so I downloaded ES File Explorer and I can move things between the device storage and the SD card easy enough, but as soon as I move images - the gallery won't show them anymore.. They are there... I can navigate to them from apps... But just not the gallery.
In my gallery you can see folders i moved onto the card via taking the card our and putting it in a reader. So I know the gallery 'sees' the card.
I have even moved and/or saved a file into one of the folders on the card that is already showing... And they don't show in the gallery.
Is anyone else having this issue? Or is this maybe just my phone.. (I have tried 2 different SD cards, a 32gb and the 64gb and get the same results)

I have used ES File Explorer for years and haven't had this issue, even on the Crystal...
Are they images that other Image Browsers can view also? If the Gallery app is set to default, clear it, and try viewing the photos with ES, Google Photos, or other apps when it prompts you to choose an app to display the pic.
If that fails, try formatting the card through the phone and moving the photos again.
I use quickpic always an it always registers when I move anything over through es.
Always is a loaded word... If it always worked then why isn't It still working?
Before you give up on this phone I think you should try my above post or something else. Instead of factory resetting the phone as a last resort I think you should do so anyways to see if that will fix the freezes you've been having.
My personal opinion is that you should see if your problems go away by trying X (whatever that might be). My philosophy is that if something is broken I try and fix it. If I can fix it I'll be cautious to not repeat the initial problem. If I can't, whether it's not worth fixing after evaluation or too expensive to do so, I can have a clear-ish conscious towards disposing of it. In the end this is my opinion and you can do whatever you want with your stuff.
Well in the past 4 years quickpic is THE ONLY gallery app I'll use. ES and Quickpic are the first 2 things I install on any new ROM and phone. As far as always goes I just said that because I have never had an issue with it or es.
I don't know what to tell you...
I too use ES as my file manager and previously used that to transfer most of my images to my SD card. After I installed Quickpic I was able to view all the images I transferred to my SD card.
Gallery image fail
format your sd card on a pc then reinsert it into your phone it should work then.
Lost Gallery photos

I had this same problem and with ES files. Look through you're files and if you find files " .nomedia " delete them . I still don't know how the .nomedia files got on my phone but soon as I deleted them all my photos in Gallery showed back up. No more problems with photos.
Back last February I had a problem with files named
.nomedia and they caused problems with my photos stored on my phone. After I realized it was nomedia files causing the problem I deleted all nomedia files and all was good until last week. Now the nomedia files are showing up again. I delete them only to have the nomedia files return. Delete the file and it shows back up in a different place,in a different file. It's always someplace on my SD Card and I can't get rid of it.
I'm not sure what to do?
My device is
SAMSUNG-SM-G925A
S 6 EDGE
5.1.1
kernel 3.10.61

Thank you in advance for your time and help.

Hi guys.
I have just got a new nexus 6p and intend on passing my current one on to my wife.
I have inserted the official USB cable in and Hooke up to my pc like I have done many times before to pull off my camera folder which is around 14gb
However it is showing as around 1gb once downloaded and a real random selecteion of pictures.
I used airdriod and could see the full 14gb folder and all its contents. However due to the size it bombs out every time when I try the zip file download.
So first off anyone know why the device is showing 10% of my pics and video ?
And any other ways I can get these files off ?
It's all backed up on Google photos but I like having it offline on my device.
do you use airdroid premium? if not, they limit file transfers, so thats most likely the issue there.
try using android file transfer app, see if you get different results.

Don't know how to fix it, but you can just download everything from the Photos site to your computer.

I searched all those essential forums but did not find a solution. I tried to back up some pictures I have taken to the PC. The phone is recognized and I can find the folder on the phone where the pictures are stored. But in there, there are only a few pitcures and even folders are missing. If I check on the phone in the gallery app, everything's there as I expect it. How can that happen
I have connected the phone to all 3 USB ports of my win10 notebook and tried 2 different usb cabels. Allways the same...
maybe these pictures are synced with google and are shown from the cloud.
they are definitely on the phone. When I check with a file explorer on the phone, the folders are full of pictures.
Try syncthing

Check for a nomedia file.
If your phone sees a .nomedia file in a folder, it won’t load the folder’s contents when it scans your directory.
file explorers can see them
You may have to go to the respective Folders where images / videos are stored and Go to settings > Show hidden file to see the .nomedia file
thanks, but I don't think this the problem. I see all pictures whether I check with fotos app or f-stop gallery. If there was a .nomedia file, I couldn't see the pictures there, right?
Only on the pc I don't see the pictures on the connected phone.
I get the same problem only its not just pictures. Entire folders just don't show up. There's no nomedia files either. I get it to work occasionally by changing USB ports but that doesn't always work.
Yesterday I got all pictures backuped onto my pc. But it's kind of weird, I still don't get it, why
I have now 2 working methods but the "normal" way, with a running phone an copy paste with windows explorer from my pc still doesn't work.
method 1: basically the same as my "normal" way, but having the phone in recovery mode. Then all pictures and folders are present...
method 2: using syncthing. Great app, thanks for the tip! This one's working great even though the phone is running. Took some time to setup everything, but now it does its job
