Can you confirm that fingerprint option is still available on the lock screen & security tab in settings?

Not to me, that option dissappeared after update.
Okay, download LG bridge and back up your stuff, then factory reset your phone by shutting down your phone then booting into recovery mode.
If you don't know how to boot into recovery, watch this video:

Did she have the same problem with Nova Launcher on 7.0?
If you use doubletap to sleep screen on Nova Launcher, you cannot use fingerprint to unlock screen. Open Nova Settings, scroll to very bottom (Advanced), then select Screen lock method.
Crying...
Nothing happens after factory reset. The problem continues. I use stock launcher LG UI 4.0 and my fingerprint sensor died.:crying::crying:
I'm having the same problem. It worked for me a couple days after I installed Oreo but after a time I restarted my phone the option to even set up my fingerprint to unlock my phone disappeared
For those who still have fingerprints in youre settings...
Double tap your status bar at any time to lock the screen instead of tapping a home page on your launcher, will allow you to use fingerprint sensor to unlock...
But to more directly answer your questions, the below quoted post already tellls you how to avoid this problem. Its caused by 3rd party apps such as Nova Launcher using 'phone administer privileges' to lock the screen. But as the above poster states you can change the method nova uses to lock the screen. Some launchers tho such as Shubbys Ruthless Pixel launcher do not allow for an alternative locking method, and afaik there's no way around this. This is not a bug nor is it exclusive to oreo.

Got my Note 3 today and began customizing the settings. When I select "Secure with PIN" it does not give me the option for "with swipe lock". I don't remember whether that option was a stock option or one that got added with my Beans Rom on my Note 2. Either way, I can't figure any way to setup a secure screen lock with pin AND have lock screen widgets!!! I had previously used Widget Locker, but it says it's not compatible with my Note 3. Any ideas?
i dont think that is a factory option
Well, I just did an APK+Data backup of Widget Locker on my Note II and restored it to my Note 3. Problem solved...for now. I was looking forward to getting 4.3 so I didn't have to keep using 3rd party lock screens, though. Oh, well....

I did this as well, but the pull down of notification bar sits "behind" the widget locker icons/widget, etc - sort of semi-transparent - making the pull down almost unusable..not an issue for you?

Almost self defeating isn't it? I love choices, but to have a lockscreen locked with PIN number, and bust still have access to Lockscreen widgets that show info? I can see why stock wouldn't do that.. But I can see more choices as well sir!

No, I didn't have that problem. However, I've since rooted my phone and used Xposed Framework with a couple of modules & Wanam Xposed to get it exactly like I wanted. They allow me to use the stock lock screen with multiple widgets and a PIN with quick PIN entry (no need to hit enter).
[SOLVED]
Root and install Xposed Framework with the following modules: "Maximize Widgets", "Samsung Multiple Widgets", "Enable Camera on Lockscreen" & "Wanam Xposed". In Wanam Xposed, under 'lockscreen', select "enable quick PIN unlock".
Check other settings as desired...but the above settings will give you a secure lock screen with access to the camera and several full screen widgets, as well as quick PIN unlock (no need to hit enter).
I would like to add, for some not superusers (like myself) After installing xposed installer and installing and activating "Maximize Widgets", "Samsung Multiple Widgets", "Enable Camera on Lockscreen" & "Wanam Xposed"...
Under Modules, Click Samsung Multiple Widgets >> Check "Force Camera Widget".
Enjoy
Hello
I have account exchange (pin on lock screen) and i have problem with Samsung Multi Widget....
On lock screen I can move left and I have camera but I can add new widget...when I deleted exchange account I can add new widgets...
It is possible to add widget when I have account exchange??

I just found this post and was able to get my ICE widget on my lockscreen, thanks!
However, I tried the "Force Camera Widget" but didn't care for it. I have unchecked and uninstalled "Maximize Widgets" and "Samsung Multiple Widgets" but I still have the camera widget on my lockscreen. Prior to enabling it I had a screen of shortcuts. I would prefer that but would settle for getting rid of the camera widget. I hope you or someone can help.

no, youre good with knoxx.... go to your superuser app and clear all auto deny/ time limit.. disable enforce permission, trust system user. app should install and you can reset your settings
if the app still does not work, then its root causing an issue with permissions on the exchange side. , and will take a little work.. i believe what you do with your device is between you and your pocketbook... GNL and VZW should have no business using apps that detect root, other than more $$$$ ..... but hey, its just my opinion ... protect your root, and check files upload, and to verify the repo list can be found here:

thinking you really want this app if youre willing to go through all these links.. however, once the framework is installed its alot easier on your device. and its updated first. once you connect, you can uninstall apps you dont need good luck..
This could be the solution...

Assuming you are not using any security for lock screen..
You can get shortcuts using Menu > Settings > Device > Lock Screen Then..
1* Make sure Multiple Widgets says ON..
2* Click Multiple Widgets (Not the button that says ON/OFF). Then Click Favorite Apps or Camera..
3* Select Favorite Apps.
Hope that helps.

What's "tap tap" ? Knock On? It works fine on various ROMs. And Knock-Off only works in the launcher or status bar on the stock ROM anyway.
My solution? Knock On and use AOKP and put a power button on my navbar. So I can turn on and turn off from the screen (in any app).

Why don't you just download a screen off app like this, Nova or Apex and set double tap gesture to launch screen off. It will be pretty much the same as the stock knock off feature.

When you are on the apex (or nova) launcher, yes. You might have to set the double tap gesture as a shortcut rather than the app itself for it to properly function.

Did you download a "screen off" app from the play store and activate it? There are a couple of them. What I am saying is that you might have to shortcut one of the apps actions in order to get it to work. If you just set the app to the gesture you'll end up opening the settings.

Confirmed working. Thank you
There are SEVERAL SOLUTIONS for this:
1. On AOSP/CM11 Roms, Knock ON will always work. It is a kernel feature and is not new. Custom Kernels have been doing this for a long time. So KnockOn is taken care of.
KnockOff Talk:
2. Purchase a Launcher that supports Double Tap such as Nova Prime. Download a Free app that locks the screen. Set Nova Double Tab to launch the ScreenLocker. Boom.
OR
3. Install LG Home Launcher that has this built in. Boom.
4. Find the AOSP KnockOff StatusBar mod in the forums. This gives the ability to DoubleTap the status bar in any app, just like LG does.
The Launcher is a different issue for KnockOff. I've never looked into it, but you'd need a lockscreen that supports double tap and launching of apps while locked. Another solution would be to try to find the LG Lockscreen app or have your favorite Dev try to port it over. IMO I really love the LG Lockscreen since you can swipe anywhere on the screen to unlock and assign quick shortcuts. Also the ability to assign a custom lockscreen wallpaper. LG Lockscreen > AOSP Lockscreen IMO.
But even with Nova Double Tap > Launch Screen Locker... that gets you 90% of the way there. Lockscreen and Status bar are just extras.

Anyone else has this issue?
I just spent the last hour or so trying to figure out how to get this back. I had this functionality but now it's gone. I just pinned two note this morning and now i can't make the widget that is circled. Verizon note 4.

Touchwiz has the be the default Launcher to work.
Thanks for finding this out! uninstalled Nova and after reboot the option appeared. Reinstalled Nova no PIN symbol but the pinned note is still on homes screen, seems like bug to me.
its an awesome widget but nova is nicer. Too nice to give up.
The Action Memo is not like the one from the Note 3 the widget is smaller. I have Nova Launcher installed and everything works fine for me. Action Memo is tied into S Note now no more Standalone widget
In my GN4 the only way I can make the "pin to desktop" icon in action memos appear is by installing Google Now Launcher. I don't mean, though, action memos appear on Google Now Launcher home screen but just to have it installed in your apps without even using the launcher. In my case it immediately shows the "pin" icon in SNote action memos.
Hi! Today I bought Nova Launcher Prime... Loved it!
But I'm really missing the action memo pin widget.... Is it a nova launcher limitation? Does it work with any other launcher other than touchwiz? Maybe it's a touchwiz-only functionality, restricted by Samsung?
Thanks!
No..action memo widget is missing with lollipop so don't think about to get it back. It is merged with s note. I miss too.,that easy and quick writing memo widget.
Has anybody been able to get the fingerprint scanner to bypass a secondary security feature to open the phone after doing double tap to sleep while using a different launcher? I like Action Launcher 3 but so far every double tap to sleep app that can be controlled by AL3's gestures requires knock code to open the phone even if the fingerprint scanner is used to wake the phone. I found one that worked with my previous phone (GS7E) but it's not compatible with this phone. So far every app I've tried hasn't worked (including ones that say they are MM fingerprint compatible).
Sent from my LG-H918 using Tapatalk
Ohh... So that's what happens. I thought my phone was randomly turning off the fingerprint feature. Using Nova and that's happening to me as well
It's something that's been happening since MM
you can double tap the status bar and it will work but limits you to double tap only on that area (even the Nova beta has the issue too)
In MM there was a workaround using Screen Lock Pro app form the playstore, but it no longer works in Nougat
Hoping the developer fixes it soon(if possible).
If youre rooted nova allows you to use fingerprint after double tap to sleep now

Use the app DTSO from the Google Play Store:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.enlace.doubletap&hl=en
Place an invisible widget on your homescreen & you have DTTS.
Yes,you do need to make room for a widget on your homescreen, but, unless you cram pack your desktop with apps/floders/etc...,this shouldn't be hindrance.
Will this work with secure locking,IDK,I just use swipe to open, but,if you're looking to regain DTTS,it's worth a shot.

DTTS is not the problem, we can get it to do that.
The issue is the secure lock and wanting to use fingerprint sensor on the subsequent wake.

I've got double-tap on my home screen set to open Google Now. I didn't even think you could turn off the screen double tapping anywhere but the status bar?
Hello,
I always use a gesture "one finger pull down" to pull down the notification shade, but it is not working for me on the S8 has anyone noticed the same?
I am currently using action launcher 3, but none of the launchers seem to do it for me.
Update, action launcher has been updated and it works now.
Yes. I have the same issue.
Settings > Advanced Features > Enable "Finger Sensor Gestures"
it's working for me, clear your fingerpring and try.. .... mine is S8+
It's not the fingerprint sensor that's not working it's the gesture on the home screen of pulling down. Normally I can swipe down anywhere in the home screen and pull down notifications and quick actions. Right now I have to get my finger all the way to the top. I have tried making the gesture a double tap as well as a two finger pull and nothing works.
I have exactly the same issue! I submitted a bug request with action launcher, in case its a problem with that app. Perhaps you should do that too?
It's not the app. I'm fortunate enough to have Verizon which still allowed the Bixby button to be remapped. (the first time I'm actually happy they are slow at rolling out updates lol). That being said I remapped that button to open notifications and its fine. However using Nova launcher which uses what I assume is the same accessibility interception doesn't work. Hopefully a work around is found so this phone is more usable with one hand.
Definitely an issue with 3rd party launchers and the s8 fingerprint sensor
Sent from my SM-G955F using Tapatalk
I have the same issue. Guess i have to get used to use the fingerprint swipe, until they fix it.
Working for me as well.
Did you activate launcher's service in settings>accessibility>services?
Its disabled by default, you have to enable it in the settings, but to be honest, that feature is useless unless you are missing fingers on your hand. and youll end up smudging your camera in the process.
Yeah sure did... Still mot working
I have the same issue using Action Launcher 3. I also have the app ticked in Accessibility.
Everyone who is saying it IS working is misunderstanding the issue. It's not a case of swiping the fingerprint sensor not working, it's a case of launchers that use shortcuts to access the notification shade. For years, I've used Action Launcher 3 where a single finger swipe down OF THE HOMESCREEN brings down the notification shade - that doesn't work anymore. And given the height of the S8 duo, this is the time we need it the most.
It does not work because swiping up/down now brings up app drawers. It is by design. Maybe try disabling app drawers a la iOS style?
You just need to enable Action Launcher in Settings->Accessibility scroll all the way down to services.
(I hope those is the right names, my phone is not set to english)
Looks like Nova Launcher Prime does work for me as long as Accessibility is activated so this problem is mostly just a Action Launcher problem. I remember at one point he moved away from needing accessibility to utilize this feature and maybe its default setting is to not utilize it any longer. I really want to stick with Action Launcher so hopefully the developer will come through with the old way through accessibility.

Hello,
I always use a gesture "one finger pull down" to pull down the notification shade, but it is not working for me on the S8 has anyone noticed the same?
I am currently using action launcher 3, but none of the launchers seem to do it for me.

Ok found a solution but its annoying. If you have Action Launcher and Nova Launcher (Prime may or may not be needed) you can still use action launcher primarily but you'll need to utilize Nova Launcher's action short cuts. So here goes...
1. Open Action Launcher Settings
2. Go to shortcuts
3. Go to swipe down
4. Assign single finger to "Shortcut" > Nova Action > Select Expand Notifications in this menu.
??? profit

GENIUS.
I found another solution as well! works very good.
Install the app "drop down status bar"(WangQi) from play store and then use this app as a shortcut for that gesture you want.
