ZTE Axon 7 A2017G Europe model stuck on ZTE boot screen - ZTE Axon 7 Questions & Answers

Hello, as the title states, I have somehow managed to get my ZTE Axon 7 on the boot screen while trying to flash twrp recovery.
I am thinking to let the battery drain and reboot it, but I don't know if this will solve my problem.
Any help from someone with better knowledge on this is greatly appreciated as I am not that experienced in this.
Thank you!

why don't you just hold the power button?
If you can enter TWRP after this (power + vol up) then you'll be able to fix everything. If you can't, your other options are EDL (all 3 buttons), fastboot (unlikely on a G, but you need to get adb for that), or ADB, to get into EDL

In the same boat actually, unlocked the bootloader using the EDL Tool, then setup phone again from scratch fine, downloaded apps etc, then installed 3.2.1.0 from TWRP website, but now stuck on zte screen. Can boot into twrp though.

well in your case you can try installing another TWRP version from TWRP itself (install image).
If that doesn't work I'd say format data and install Magisk right after that, maybe it's something related to data

I tried to format data but it fails with an error message. I also tried another version of twrp linked here with the same result. I think your right and I will have to flash magisk or SuperSU after flashing twrp, which is a shame, as I wasn't actually intending to root it, I simply wanted to have unlocked BL and TWRP installed.
I have a working phone again by doing full EDL restore, so currently Unlocked BL with stock recovery.

I installed SuperSU using trwp and it all works now.

P9 lite bootloop please help

I tried to install Xposed but something went wrong and my P9 lite now continues bootlooping
how can i restore it?
from eRecovery it doesn't work...
eRecovery?
You need TWRP to install Xposed so... I assume you do have TWRP?
Then just restore your backup. I do hope you have a backup!
If not, make a wipe and flash a stock firmware. You can find links here in the forum.
Always make a backup of your working system when you flash stuff.
A bootloop from installing Xposed is not normal! I assume you have flashed a wrong version.
Keep in mind that it takes a long time for the first boot after installing Xposed so it might not even be a bootloop.

can you link me the stock recovery? for VNS-L31
how i have to flash it now?
You can find links to the newest firmwares here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/huawei-p9lite/development/stock-firmware-links-t3468245
The links provide you with a flashable zip file that can be flashed through TWRP.

No. You need to find a way to install TWRP first.
But how did you flash Xposed when you don't have TWRP?
Or how did you lose TWRP access? I can't really see how you do not have TWRP...
i have twrp but sometimes it access to it and sometimes no

you can do it with fastboot... flash the twrp img
i haven't access to my twrp
i haven't access to my twrp anymore
when it's shut down i pressed power off + v up + v down and iy says installing update but at 5% it stops
Try to reinstall TWRP using fastboot.
There are guides in here how to do that. I'm on mobile right now so can't really search the links.
But you installed TWRP before so just try to do it again but do it in fastboot mode. You should be able to still access this.
If you want to return to stock download a full firmware and extract it using huawei firmware extractor or similar. Then you can use fastboot to flash boot.img, cust.img, system.img and both of the recoveries. This only applies if you have the boot loader unlocked.
If it stops at 5% the oeminfo may not match the firmware you are trying to flash (at least it was my problem). You can also flash the correct oeminfo partition through fastboot (oeminfo files are available just search).
Edit: And I agree with what Schlengge as posted. You should still be able to flash twrp trough the fastboot mode.
Hello.
I'm stuck on here since 2 PM of yesterday and I can't figure out the mess I made.
So today I tryed on removing brand Vodafone (italian), and i did make it but i ended up with C900 and couldn't log with google, i tried installing oeminfos but i got the one from P9 (not lite) and it bricked my phone and it was stuck at booting sayng my datas were unable to load and suggests me a factory reset (lowleve) which the system made from itself.
Now I flashed the userdata and it worked, now the phone boot but Model number says hi625 and serial lacks of L31.. i mean it is VNS-C432B130..
Someone knows hot to help me?
i think its the same of balong version in p8 lite.

If you have unlocked the bootloader I would suggest flashing all the important images manually using fastboot (cust + cache + system + boot + recovery + recovery2). Also before rebooting flash the oeminfo (the C432 p9 lite one, either dual or single sim) file using fastboot (do NOT flash a zip file trough fastboot).
After doing this try to flash using erecovery combo (+ and - button combo) and do a factory reset. In my case that fixed it.
Edit: Since you want to debrand I would suggest using the VNS-L31C432B151 firmware.
flash the twrp img with fastboot, then sideload the xposed uninstall zip

HELP. Phone stuck on black screen after installing SuperUser.

Hey guys, I'm a little devastated. Hoping I didn't ruin my phone.
So, earlier today I unlocked my Moto G4 Plus's bootloader and installed TWRP recovery. I installed ElementalX and a superuser.zip file as well. After reboot, there was no superuser in my app drawer and when I checked my root status with Phh's Root Checker, it said that my phone was not rooted properly. I then found the guide here on how to root, and noticed that it had Phh's SuperUser. I changed the config.txt file like mentioned in the guide, booted into TWRP recovery and installed it and clicked on reboot. I got the usual bootloader unlocked message, but after that my screen went blackish-grey and has been that way since, which is about 15-20 minutes now. I (panicking and being a noob) tried switching it off using the power button which didn't work. I then checked to see if it showed up as connected device in android sdk/fastboot, which it didn't.
WHAT DO I DO? I can't just buy another phone since I can't afford it as I recently bought this one, so it's a really big deal for me. :crying:
PLEASE HELP ME.
Thank you.
UPDATE.
Hey guys,
First of all, thank you for the replies. I'm sorry I couldn't reply to them.
Secondly, a few things have happened since the OP. Keep in mind I had absolutely NO internet during the following events, so I couldn't do any research.
The night my phone went black screen, I went to sleep thinking i'll let it die out of battery and work the rest out in the morning. So the next morning I put the phone on charge and went into the bootloader. I tried doing a normal reboot which didn't work (I got the same screen) so I went into into bootloader again, connected the phone to my computer (it got recognized this time) and re-flashed TWRP. I went into recovery mode on the phone and tried re-flashing ElementalX and superuser. This time I got an error when trying to flash the superuser.zip, and the error was:
Updater process ended with ERROR: 1
Error installing zip file '/sdcard/superuser.zip'
I had another supersu.zip in my phone storage, tired installing it and got the same error.
When I tried doing a normal reboot into my system, it goes on a boot loop on the "your device is unlocked" screen and has been that way ever since.
What do I do now?
Should I try to re-flash TWRP and superuser with the right files, or should I restore stock recovery? I don't have any backup. (noob mistake)
I'd highly appreciate it anyone linked me the proper twrp and superuser or stock recovery files and if possible guided me on what to do.
PLEASE HELP ME.
thank you.
UPDATE #2
So I did what abhi212b told me to do and flashed the stock rom. Everything is fine now.
I'll try rooting it again a bit later. Thanks for the help.
UPDATE #3
I tried rooting my phone again, and it went flawlessly this time! Rooted successfully.
What an emotional rollercoaster lol.
Push the power button for at least 2-3 minutes. Worked for me and others in the past.

Like the poster above stated, hold the power button until the screen shuts off. YOUR PHONE WILL AUTO REBOOT!!! The instant the screen turns off, begin holding the volume down button. When you see the fastboot screen pop up, begin flashing your N images again, or use a custom ROM (which are generally much faster, easier to mess with, and easier to recover from).
Ex didn't flash properly.. That is what I can estimate! If u root on stock kernel, it breaks the device.
As said above go to bootloader (works on any screen... Power and volume down) and then to twrp maybe (flash twrp from fastboot). And then restore any previous nandroid u have.. If not u will have to flash stock via fastboot and then flash ex kernel. When u flash, restart and go to about phone and see if the kernel shows elemental x.. If yes, go to twrp and root it via suoersu, phhh's superuser or magisk su.. Whichever u like.. That should be fine!

That won't help!
Best is that u should flash stock rom, since the phone is bootlooping...
U can find it here https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g4-plus/how-to/moto-g4-plus-xt1640-43-athene-npj25-93-t3549369
Flash it on bootloader screen via fastboot.
Do not relock the bootloader. Skip that step and also do NOT flash bootloader.img and partition. That can mess up the device.
once this is done, boot the device once... Finish the setup and then flash twrp.. Then flash ex kernel then flash any root Zip. (supersu, magisk or phhh's superuser)
Twrp can be found from here. https://forum.xda-developers.com/mo...p-twrp-3-0-2-2-recovery-moto-g4-plus-t3386586

Only the last SuperSU Beta defaults to systemless install. Any other ones require writing of a .SuperSU file to force systemless before rooting.

If you have not done this already, you can give it a try by flashing the stock boot.img via twrp and see if that boots the device.
I am not sure that it will work since, i have not tried it.
Exact same thing with the XT1625. I have also found that the systemless method of rooting with SuperSU kills my wifi and cellular network's connection abilities, which might just be a standard G4 thing but the only way I know of to fix it is reflashing the OS (data wipe not necessary).
Just thought this might be helpful to anyone who ran into similar issues to the ones I had.
also i'm still having issues with the stupid thing actually rooting but i'm gonna try again some other day.

I think that is the kernel issue.. you should try EX.. and then use SuperSU or maybe use Magisk SU..

twrp gets erased

Hello guys i need an urgent help yesterday i unlocked bootloader on my g5 plus which was running Android 8.1 everything was ok i installed twrp latest version it got installed but when i reeboted to system the twrp gets erased idk how whenever i try to boot into recovery it shows no command sign and then after pressing power button it boots into stock recovery ! Guys can anyone mention me a solution thread or just explain me what to do ! Thank you
Reinstall it, and then boot right into recovery. If I remember, there is a pop up when you go to close twrp and boot to system to keep twrp, or some such nag.
As far as i remember there were 2 files. dm-verity and forced encryption. I never needed them but if you stay on stock you will have to flash those so that twrp doesn't get replaced by stock recovery everytime you reboot. Check the how to root forum you should find more information there about this.
Or you can just root it and twrp won't erase with stock recover.

I didn't either, as you wrote if you boot into TWRP before going to system it should stick or also if you flash magisk before booting the OS.
But there are some devices/ROMs that need the no verity flag to be disabled so flashing this file might help if TWRP won't stick (even when DM verity looks for a tampered system partition in the first case). There are also some terminal commands to do that but I forgot them at the moment.
I mainly used the zip to keep my /data partition decrypted after reformating it. When flashing Nougat magisk did the job for me but when I upgraded to Oreo /data was reencrypted again after flashing magisk and booting into system.
The above zip prevents /data from being encrypted again and may make sure that TWRP sticks.
ahhh, ok I see. Thanks for the explanation.

How do I update my 6T rooted without erasing datas?

Dear all,
first of all I would like to be sorry if I'm saying something worng. I'm not so expert about Android world.
I've got a OnePlus 6T that I've rooted with the help of a friend some months ago.
Not it's a lot that I keep see the notification abount the OS update and I keep skipping it but it's bothering me so... I searched for a guide and I found this (https://oneplus.gadgethacks.com/how...thout-losing-root-no-computer-needed-0192638/) (I hope I can post it also if it's from another website).
It seems so simple, I've downloaded the OTA update, the TWRP and the Magisk. My issue is that whene I reboot to the recovery I'm not booting into TWRP but I suppose into the OnePlus recovery instead.
I searched angain and found this other guide (https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6t/how-to/official-oxygenos-9-0-4-ota-oneplus-6t-t3860953) that is more complete but I can't understand if it's the proper guide I need to follow to update my device keeping it rooted and most of all without loosing any data.
Thanks,
Riki
The first guide you linked to is wrong. Do not follow that. That is why you don't have TWRP anymore. The second guide you linked to on XDA is correct. Follow the TWRP guide. Once you have TWRP reinstalled.
You must download the zip from the second link you posted here at XDA.
Flash the Zip in TWRP. This flash the update to the opposite slot. It also wipes out TWRP and replaces it with the stock recovery.
Now you must reinstall TWRP. Flash the TWRP installer. This will flash TWRP to both slots.
Now reboot to recovery. This will reboot to the new slot where you update was just flashed.
This is when you install Magisk to the updated slot. You MUST do this.
Now reboot to system after you installed Magisk.
Now you have updated without losing any data.
The guide in the second link says to use the Magisk uninstaller. I've personally never done this. This is probably for people who use all sorts of weird add-ons and such. I don't know. Never uninstalled Magisk, never had a problem. That's all I can say. You can try it, or you can follow the official instructions.

It's booting into recovery, but the OnePlus recovery. That is what the menu that is asking you to select a language is. When you enter the command fastboot boot trwp.img you don't get any sort of error? Or the phone doesn't respond?

Is fastboot installed? Are you typing the commands correctly?

Sounds like you're not running the command from the folder where fastboot.exe is located.
Makes me wonder why you did it this way in the first place. And why people suggested it. Easiest way to install updates on a rooted 6T is to install the update through the normal updater without rebooting, going to Magisk Manager and selecting install to inactive slot and rebooting only after that. That's really all there is to it.

Fastboot was working until I reinstalled adb and OnePlus drivers.

I didn’t know any other way. That’s why I asked how to do it. Anyway I’m running the command from the right folder. Maybe something broke on my laptop.
Yesterday evening I tried from a new laptop windows 10, installed adb and OnePlus driver for the first time and I was able to run the commands without the error not finding the command but:
Fastboot boot twrp.image returned me an error
If I run fastboot flash boot twrp.image it does not give me error but the phone does not response. It only boot to the boot loader.

Try uninstalling adb. Delete the whole folder and install it again. Try updating your netframework on your PC and the latest C++

I'm creating a new tread about the issue and the state where I am because now I can't update or keep data, I just need to recover the phone to a normal state.

Flashing the fastboot rom would probably have gotten you back in and maybe with your data in tact. Now fair warning I'm a Linux user anyways, but really fastboot and adb are so much easier in Linux. For people that have issues, it sometimes is easier just to make a bootable USB / CD of Linux Mint or Ubuntu and then from Synaptic or the Package manager install adb and fastboot. No drivers or anything else to install, everything will just work.
Last time I got stuck in fastboot I just used the fastboot ROM to get back to bootable.

Those fastboot roms have sure saved me from raging before
I would also recommend using migrate, it's in the play store and it backs up all your data and then puts it in a flashable zip

Do a factory reset from TWRP and flash the full ROM.
One best method...and the method that works 100% tested for upgrading a rooted OOS to new OOS version without any loss of data, without any issues.
I'll mention the guide that I have used to upgrade from 9.0.12 rooted to 9.0.13 rooted. Without any loss of data
Download latest OOS full ROM
Boot to TWRP
Flash OOS 9.0.13
Flash TWRP installer zip
Reboot system
Phone will boot.
Now go back to recovery mode
Flash Magisk if u want root again
Done
No confusion. No data loss. Not being stuck. Sweet and Simple.

So I don't have to wipe my system data or anything. I heard some people had the problem of getting stuck or that there was a red warning screen that popped up when booting, and I'm not talking about the bootloader message. I'm currently on 9.0.11. Also should I download the latest version of TWRP or should I use the one I'm using currently. Don't wanna mess anything up. Another guide I read said I should flash the oos rom, then TWRP, than magisk

Maybe I deleted my recovery, how can I fix?

I need some help. Just for context I was using these instructions here: https://www.cyanogenmods.org/download-twrp-oneplus-8-pro/
If you want some background, please read on and if not please skip to the next paragraph: I found the all in one tool on here with no instructions and lots of posts. I found some none TWRP possibilities but I don't know where those ROMs came from. I just wanted to root my phone and put a custom recovery. Is that even possible anymore? I researched this for a week and it seemed like everything was going to go well.
I got to:
Execute the below command to boot the TWRP temporarily:
fastboot boot recovery twrp-3.4.x-xx.img
Nothing happened. So I decided to replace "boot" with "flash" thinking it would work. Then, as I pressed it "temporarily" came into my head and I suspected I made a mistake. So when I tried to reboot to recovery and install MAGISK, it took me to the bootloader. This suggests that I have no recovery at all! Can anyone help me find the guide that will actually root my phone?
I think I fixed my problem. I looked around to see if there was another version of TWRP. I had issues with the 3T years ago and BluSpark made a custom TWRP recovery that worked for my phone at the time.
Anyway, I found this version: https://sourceforge.net/projects/mauronofrio-twrp/ I did the same command fastboot flash recovery and I was able to boot into TWRP and flash MAGISK!

I am using the OnePlus 8 Pro. It's working on my phone so far as rebooting into the recovery and flashing the MAGISK 20.4 zip. I haven't tried ROMs or IMG. I used the 3.4.0-2.img
