CSC Code Won't Change After Flashing Stock Firmware - Galaxy A3, A5, A7, A8, A9 Q&A, Help & Troubleshoot

Hey guys! So, out of curiosity, I've downloaded and flashed the most recent Oreo from Russia (CSC: SER) thinking that I would like to try out the new Oreo software. After I've tried it, I decided to go back to Nougat by flashing the stock firmware (CSC: XME) I downloaded from sammobile.com. After completing it, someway, somehow, the device is now stuck in the Vietnam CSC (XXV). I've been downloading various of XME firmwares from the past and everytime it finish flashes, it will start up in Vietnamese and I'm stuck again with the Vietnam CSC. Nice that I'm able to get oreo with a Vietnamese CSC, but I don't want to use it because the Samsung Pay works different in Vietnam in comparison to Malaysia. And, I've no idea how flashing a SER and then XME would come out with a XXV CSC is beyond my imagination. Is there anyway for me to return back to my stock CSC without rooting and tripping Knox?

Opening the stock recovery completes the CSC installation, give that a try. It's expected to show "Updating 0-100%".

So, I have done some digging around the internet and found this link from the Sammobile forum. I've tried the methods in that forum, and it works!
If any of you have suffered the same problem as me, you could perform troubleshoot using this method. It seems that firmware for XME is actually multi-CSC and includes other CSC such as Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore, Myanmar and etc.. The Vietnam CSC is the default CSC.
So, here you go. This is the link: https://www.sammobile.com/forum/threads/39155-How-to-change-CSC-with-a-combination-file

How to change CSC (No root/Odin)?

Hi,
I have messed up my phone while playing with TowelRoot, so I flashed a new firmware. This is the recommended software for Belgium (I9505XXUGNG8) on SamMobile, this firware was for Luxembourg, and on french forums they said it was this one for Belgium, since belgium does not have a firmware.
So I flashed it via Odin, and then the phone rebooted, however, my CSC is set to ORX (Slovakia) for some reason. This is a Multi-CSC firmware.
So, I wonder what CSC is it for this firmware (Before I flashed the phone, the welcome screen was in english)
And how to get this back so I get 100% stock, by keeping KNOX 0x0.
(I can't root with TowelRoot, because it got patched)
Sorry to do this, but bump.

CSC is required for OTA (automatique mise à jour du firmware), so no need to change it because ORX area is linked to Europ.
You'll get OTA the same time (almost) than France and Lx , no worry.
in case you fear it is always possible to flash the full new Rom with ODIN.
Welcome screen is english and you move it the language you want.
About KNOX 0 if you always flash FW with Odin you'll never have to worry about it.
Clear?
Ok and I can send it back to Samsung ?
(Thanks btw ☺)

I don't say this is a problem, csc has some region related features. IF u really want those features, you can use specific region firmware as u stated about your region but i don't care about csc because it does not create a real problem. Changing CSC is bit confusing so flash complete whatever firmware you want and enjoy, also hit thanks :fingers-crossed:

Trouble in CSC change and stock roms

Hello!
I have read many foryms on how to etc etc and my problem is as follows. I bought a Samsung Galaxy S5 from an online store and later it upgraded from 4.2.2 to 4.4.2. Appears to be genuine but it is the SM-G900H with the octa-core Exynos. I bought it in Mexico. But the csc is TPA, meaning it is from Panama. I live in the EU so I searched for CSCs for my model in europe and decided to go with Russia's one. Got the .md5 file and started flashing normally with odin3. It always fails at 99% when it tries to flash the hidden.img (unfortunately have not any image atm). So I thought that it has to do with the CSC code. I tried every way possible that were suggested on many forums starting with rooting, but nothing worked for me, not the apps suggested, not secret codes, nothing. Cannot change the csc code from TPA to anything. Although, after I try to fail instal the SER (Russian csc code), I flash CWM recovery and upon connecting to Kies3, it recognizes the version of the PDA correctly, but the csc code is still TPA (Panama). Now I try to flash official samsung ROM again from Kies3 for a fresh start. I would like to know if there is any way of overwritting this CSC. Thank you in advance.

Try to flash single countries csc instead of multi, flash again multi country csc if you want to change it to specify region.

If I understood correctly, you are saying that I should Flash again with TPA (Panama) firmware and then flash again with the SER (Russian) firmware?
I will try that tomorrow and will be back with the results.

So I tried doing that, succesfully reverted to official PTA, but unfortunately with SER it always stucks on hidden.img and fails immediately.

[Q] CSC for G900F Problem

Hi,
I am using International version of Samsung Galaxy S5 G900F, I bought it with the firmware belonging to KST(Saudia Arabia). As I was in need of 4G I flashed it with official firmware from Poland (XEO) at that time only country having Lollipop update. After some time I rooted my mobile. and flashed Xtrestolite rom. Now I reverted back to stock official firmware from England(BTU). My CSC when seen in Kies is from XEO(Poland). While I installed Firmware from England. Now again I rooted my mobile again and installed Xtrestolite rom to change CSC manually through Phoneinfo Samsung. But it gives error. It shows in CSC section
Original CSC XEO
Firmware CSC BTU
Active CSC XEO/BTU
CSC Country UK & IRE
Prouct name G900FZDAXEO
How can I change original CSC according to the official firmware installed i.e. BTU(UK) to get official updated from Kies?

No Luck. Same
After flashing firmware going to recovery android icon comes and some installation starts (A blue bar below it) it goes almost half in the way and phone restarts again. If I go to recovery there comes.
Manual mode
Appling multi-csc
Applied the CSC-code: XEO
Successfully applied multi-CSC

Clarification regarding multi csc

Hello everyone,
I thought of changing my mom's s7 edge region to BTU (currently KSA) as it is very slow in getting OTAs. It only got the December security patch update a week ago or so. As I am not familiar with Samsung phones, I read the forums for every info about CSCs (the CSC and home_CSC were very confusing). I checked the CSC using phone info and it does not have the original CSC, but have a lot of available CSCs and from what I read, I presume the ROM is multi CSC and that it comes with KSA because of the origin country.
But the problem is that I read somewhere that if you flash the firmware of some other region (eg BTU), you cannot go back to KSA, instead it will default to XSG, and also that you need root to select CSC. It also said 'maybe' I would be able to return to the original CSC using smart switch. Can anyone confirm this?
Will it be denied warranty or something when I cannot revert CSC back to KSA before giving it for warranty? (I read that changing region generally does not void warranty, but I think I'm paranoid **thinking of my mom screaming at me**)
Also if I flash the UAE firmware (XSG), will I still retain my own CSC if I do not flash the UAE CSC along with it because XSG is given is my available CSC codes? ( If that is true I should flash BL+AP+CP without CSC or am i wrong?)
Please pardon me if this was asked before but I could not find any information regarding the first and third question
Thank you very much!

Keeping OTA updates after STOCK ROM update via ODIN

Hi all, I've had a look and can't seem to find anything on the forums, but if you can point me in the right direction that would be much appreciated!
I've been flashing for years but never really been in this situation, as this is the first phone I've not rooted.
So here it is:
I've a completely stock, never-rooted S7 Edge on the XEU CSC.
I'm not getting the latest update and I'd like to have it, I'm stuck on Beta 5 (I was a part of the Beta Program).
I'd like to flash the latest availiable 7.0 firmware in ODIN.
My question is:
Would I still get OTA updates AFTER I've flashed the firmware in ODIN considering my phone is COMPLETELY STOCK and has NEVER been rooted?
Thank you very much!
P.S Sorry again if I've missed something in the forums, I tried searching and couldn't find an answer.
Thank you!
Stock roms get OTA updates. Only rooting breaks that.
Yes you would continue to get OTA when flashing update via Odin.

You will get OTA updates on the XEU timeline. Your CSC is XEU and it will stay XEU if you flash Official Nougat. Hence, if BTU then get updated in the future, you will have to wait until it is released for XEU

So as long as I update to an XEU firmware I'd still get the updates? But not if I update to a BTU one?
Just clarifying.
Also, thank you for the speedy reply!
Hello,
I have a brand new S7 Edge, non-rooted. I would like to have the official Nougat, but the update by OTA ist still not available for my device. I would try it with Odin, but where can I get the official firmware (german, non-branding device (DBT?))?
Thanks for your help

So you must wait until it´s released.......or you can flash via odin the BTU(OXA) Nougat or the (german)Vodafone VD2.(if you flash the BTU(OXA_MultiCSC), you will get the active DBT CSC)(but flash the normal CSC not Home_CSC)

When you flash official Nougat, you are flashing OXA CSC. This CSC is a "multi" CSC which contains multiple CSC. This OXA CSC actually contains BTU, XEU, NEE, DBT and a few more.
If you flash a multi CSC and you are already on one of the contained CSC (So in your case, you are on XEU CSC and flashing a "multi" CSC that also contains XEU) then your CSC will not change, your phone will see that you are coming from XEU CSC and so it will pick that CSC when you flash the multi CSC.
You won't actually have BTU CSC, which means you will only receive updates when XEU CSC receives them. BTU normally receives updates before XEU so most people like to change to BTU. It isn't a must though.
So to clarify, if you flash official Nougat, you will get OTA updates when XEU CSC users receive it. If you want to CHANGE your CSC to BTU then that involves multiple flashes.

Hey,
My phone was on the XEU csc code and not getting the nougat update either. I am not rooted either. I wanted to update to nougat. So I went to sammobile and downloaded the BTU firmware. I downloaded the newest lollipop version so as to make it update to nougat ota. When flashing I read some where that to keep ota functionality not to flash csc home in odin but just the normal csc file that is inter zip folder along with the other files. Once flashed and phone had been setup, I went to settings and about phone and checked for updates, my phone then proceeded to update to nougat sucesfully.

Your welcome, just to let you know, I should of said this will completely wipe your device so do a backup of your photos and things on your phone memory and just take your sd card out to be safe.

I've applied the late January 2017 BTU update via Odin and used the regular CSC file (not home CSC) which wiped everything out and all is working well - but I would have expected the latest BTU update to have been applied OTA and it hasn't shown as available. My CSC is still showing up as XEU on the phone too which I guess is the cause for this? Did I do something wrong when applying the BTU update?

You flash anything that is not a part of the OXA CSC
After that, if you flash OXA you will be BTU
