So, I used to be big into ROMs and rooting my devices, etc. However after I got the S7 Edge 2 years ago, I gave up that sinful way of life and I embraced a more pure lifestyle.
Anyways, over the last few months both my wife and I have noticed SERIOUS slowdowns on our devices (we both have S7 Edge's). So I decided it was it was time to root and ROM our devices. But after coming here and reading a little, I fear I may have no options.
So, my first question is...
- Have there been any reports from Samsung S7 users all complaining about device slowdowns?
- Can I install a custom ROM (a debloated one)?
- If so, which are some good ones
- If not (which I suspect the case based on my reading), what are my options?
Thanks all,

Hi Guys,
Is there a stable ROM for S5 on Tmobile?
I've been using custom ROMS for the past few months and I'm having real problems with a lot of glitches. I've tried at least 5 different roms that I found on this section and I'm running into issues like text messages not being delivered and getting them a day late. I understand that these ROMS are underdevelopment but still, my user experience for my S5 has really gone down hill to a point where I almost want to get an Iphone 6 just to have everything work. This is my own problem and I want to fix it.
Is there any alternative or should I just install the stock Samsung Software back?
Hello,
I'm considering picking up a used Verizon GS7 (or GS7 Edge) until the Pixel 2 comes out. I absolutely need root (I use WiFi Hotspot Tethering, Xposed, AdAway, Titanium Backup, and several other root-required apps heavily.)
I have not been keeping up with the Verizon Galaxy S7 / S7 Edge rooting threads recently, but I just looked through the OP in this thread --- rooting, flashing the optimizations / fixes, and flashing Xposed all look quite simple compared to some of the other phones I've experienced.
Questions:
1) Is the method in the thread linked (above) still the process to root and optimize the Verizon variant, or are there preferable ways that will get the phone working better?
2) How much does the performance and battery life to stock after rooting, flashing the fixes and Xposed? (Please try to be as objective as possible - I know owning a you naturally are inclined to oversell it, but I need to know how much my performance and battery life will suffer from rooting, etc, because I use my phone almost constantly.
3) Besides Samsung Pay / Android Pay, does rooting break or negatively affect anything material? (Bluetooth, wifi, radios, sms, mms, calling/dialer, camera, sensors, software functionality, fast charge, fingerprint reader, or anything else?)
I figured you guys are probably the most knowledgeable about this subject, so I wanted to ask as many questions as I could before picking up a used Verizon S7 / S7 Edge.
Thanks!
I just bought an S7 for my mom, but she needs tethering also, so I am still reading and trying to figure out if I made a mistake buying it. So I feel ya man. Like to know also.

IMHO, performance and battery life on the S7 with root are abysmal. I've been rooting my phones since 09 and I can't believe I actually use stock, unrooted Android on my S7. Root is that bad. The fixes made it slightly better, but it was still awful.
Buy an unlocked version or pass on this phone. I can speak for others but the lag and quirks on this phone after root suck.
The hybrid rom unrooted provides tethering and a clean rom base without a lot of bloat. You are SOL if you're wanting to run xposed and such unless you try to take all the steps from the tips and tricks to make a rooted s7 usable.

Its been a long time since i posted but wanted to share this in off chance it will be helpful. Anyways i have been doing some research to try and help me decide whether i am going to get the s7 edge 935t or the international 935f, 935fd i believe are the model #'s. While reading about the locked bootloader and rooting difficulties on the 935t and other u.s. models i thought about how i was able to root and install a custom rom on my Verizon galaxy s4 with a locked bootloader and remembered using something called safestrap. i believe it just made like a separate partition but here is the link incase a similar method can be used on the tmobile version of the s7. https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2441441
I used the same exploit on my Verizon S4 and S5, even wrote my first ROM for the S4, thanks to safe strap. Unfortunatly the developer of safestrap gave up a long time ago...
Our only option is flash fire. The phone is a couple years old now, the S8 and Note are most of our remaning developers priority. And without a bunch of heads being bashed against the boot loader we will never find the cracks to exploit it.
We have a PR issue with devs. They work their butts off to give us a custom created operating system with a bunch of bells and whistles for free and we brow beat and demand more from them until we push them into giving up and moving on. Just look at the ROM threads for the TMobile S7 here on XDA, @jrkruse has been helping folks like me for years here on XDA, creating ROMs for phones he doesn't even own and helping out extremley amature devs like myself when we get stumped. How do we repay him? We flash without reading, we ignore and complain, we demand fixes and updates... For a free product from a guy who creates in his valuable and minimal free time...
I know I went off script, my bad I am just disappointed with the lack of development and developers lately.

yeah I noticed theres seems to be a lot less going on these days compared to when I got my first android phone, the Samsung droid charge and after rooting it I was hooked. then came the s3,s4,s5 which I had till was stolen a few months ago and now deciding on what to get next. leaning towards the g955fd which I would like more if it had the physical home button(fingerprint scanner config is ridiculous) and the i.r. blaster although I think I read somewhere that it is f.m. radio capable at least on the Chinese variant. It would be cool if Samsung released a version that was a little tougher like the one that is made by att but it seems as people have become content with what the manufacturers give you these days. Seems like a waste to spend so much money on a device with so few roms and other development options. I miss getting on here and checking out the progress all the developers had made then downloading and flashing new goodies for hours on end but it looks as maybe those kinda things are history. sad
Hello. I have been looking for custom roms for my Lenovo Tab 4 10 Plus (X704F) for quite a while now and have found nothing so far. Not a single rom or even a mention of one being in development. I really hate the current rom to the point where i have considered selling or giving the tablet away. Am i out of luck or is there still hope for a custom rom?
As an Enthusiest I don't see why we cant get roms as its definitely possible as the device uses stock android we at least have magisk and twrp so its great but it could be better as I'd love to see Oreo or at least Nougat roms I'm almost tempted to learn Android Development just to give the device some love apart from the fact I haven't ever tried or know where to get started.
I hope too in a developer to build a Lineage Rom or something like that. But the Tab (for what i saw) probably is getting an update to Android Oreo...let's see what will happen in the coming months
Sadly, There won't be an update.
I only recently came to the realization that Lenovo had let this tablet go to crap by adding bloatware and failing to update to Oreo or beyond. My son is constantly complaining to me about needing more storage on the tablet. He has an SD card, but only certain things will work on it.
I am looking for any potential solutions to extend the useful life of this tablet that seems very limited by its OS and bloatware, despite having capable hardware.
Is the best that I can hope for to root the tablet and remove a couple of system apps? Is there any hope on the custom ROM front, or is this tablet just not popular enough? I was really shocked to see that there are precisely zero custom ROMs for it. Please tell me that I am missing something.
What has anyone else done to salvage this thing?
I have both Tab 8 3 plus and Tab 4 10 plus (both lte). The Tab 8 already has 3 great custom roms (especially Crdoid!) Both tablets have quite similar hardware (same CPU...). I was wondering whether one or these roms could be modified and ported to the Tab 4...
Hi. I am aware there is no such thing as The Best Rom for model X. I have installed ROMS before in other smartphones and I've always admired all the effort put on every rom version by their authors.
I'm just asking for personal opinions / experiencies regarding the latest ROMs released for the Galaxy Note 3 (N9005) to help me decide according to the goals below.
I know there is a lot of information in every ROM thread and I have read many of them, but the particular difference with the Notes against other smartphones is the S-pen functionallity. Many roms don't mention the S-pen so It's a little difficult to tell which ones really suport these features, which are important to me.
In my case, I would be very happy if:
- The ROM has pen support (the reason I have the Galaxy Note).
- I think the ideal ROM would be close to the Note line, say, a port of N7, N8 or so.
- Battery Life is good (and/or settings can be tweaked to have better batery. life than stock Lollipop 5.0, if possible.)
- I really like latest Android versions, the newer the better (Android 9), but I can live with an older one (6, 7, 8...) if it's really more stable, fast, or battery life is better.
I apologize to those that don't like this kind of posts. Just a short story: I owned a Note 3 Neo Duos (N7502) for some years, and I was really frustrated because there is just no development, no way to update it from kitkat. And I tried hard. I think I read every possible thread about the N3n duos here and outside. Many apps stopped working with Kitkat, and most notably MICROSOFT ONENOTE, one of the apps I use the most. Plus the battery was getting bad.
I ended up selling a bunch of used equipment last month and decided to give up and say farewell the N7502 for good so I sold it cheap.
To my surprise, two weeks later I was selling a (very) old notebook and out of nothing a buyer offered me a Galaxy Note 3 N9005 as a trade!
I gladly accepted and now I am very happy. The phone is in excellent condition, including the battery.
Now I see myself in the opposite situation. I had so little information and no ROM options for the N7502 and now I have so much and so many for the N9005 it's being very hard to decide. I've been reading the ROM threads for a week or so and I seem to have more doubts than answers.
So, I would like to count with the opinions or impressions of who has already tried some of the custom ROMS.
Thank you!
