So I just tried to set up a screen lock on my PH-1 (Latest 8.1 Oreo build .166) that previously had no screen lock. In 'Security & location', I selected 'Fingerprint', which requires you to set up a screen lock of some kind as a backup. I selected 'PIN', and entered my normal six-digit PIN twice for confirmation, as normal. When prompted to enter my PIN prior to recording my fingerprint, I get "Wrong PIN" even though I'm positive it's correct.
When I go back to 'Security & location' in settings, it shows 'Screen Lock' as 'None" and when I reboot, there is no prompt for PIN so the phone is not locked. However, I cannot edit my screen lock type or add a fingerprint because it will not accept any PIN.
Do I have any other option but factory reset?

Hello,
my Galaxy S4 always locks the screen, even with Instant Power Lock disabled. Its so annoying to always enter my pin. I did a reset but this did not seem to help.
Please advice.
Go to Settings - My device - Lock screen - Screen lock - None (for disable the screen lock or select other options for configure it: Swipe, Face unlock, Pattern, Pin or Password)

Thats not what I want. I want a screen lock. But I want the screenlock after a certain amount of minutes or seconds. I dont want "pressing the power key" to lock the screen.
On my friends S4 it worked with version 4.2.2 but I have 4.4.2 installed. Its either my phone (hardware) or a bug.
Check my photo below please.
I recently bought a Neptune Pine. Can anyone advise on how to remove the PIN lock that appears everytime it switches on or is 'woken up?
I know the PIN (I set it when exploring the settings) but it is a pain to have to type it in every time. But when I go to settings there is just the line that says 'Security' then below it 'PIN'. It first asks to confirm PIN (which I do) and then seems to go back to the same screen. I had been expecting a 'turn off PIN lock' option something, but no luck. Any suggestions?
Thanks.
Does you mean the PIN on lock screen or PIN for device encryption?
For PIN on lock screen, just go to Security > Screen lock and change to anything other than PIN. (Swipe or none) You have to input your existing PIN in order to change this setting.
Thanks but the problem is that after I put in the PIN from within settings, it goes to a menu where the only options open are PIN and PASSWORD. 'None' 'Slide' and 'pattern are all disabled....
I have Verizon G2 running Lollipop. I really don't like the "swipe to unlock" screen. My phone requires a PIN but I also set up a lock timer such that I don't need to enter PIN so often. But instead of resume to my last app, when I wake up the phone, I face the "Swipe to unlock" notification screen. How can I get rid of it?
I noticed from a T-Mobile's ROM. It has the exact behavior that I wanted. I either enter the PIN and get in or I wake up the phone before the lock timeout and bypasses the "swipe to unlock" screen.
Anyone know how it is done? Do you guys see 2 lock screens (one is your regular lock, e.g. PIN, pattern, etc), the other is "Swipe" when your screen went timeout but you have a longer PIN timeout.
I just got my Galaxy S7 Edge from AT&T yesterday. After going through setting up the phone, I have been absolutely loving it so far. The only issue I've come across has to do with the secure lock settings. I setup my fingerprint and added my corporate email account which requires authentication to unlock the device (which is fine because I like using the fingerprint unlock anyway). In the secure lock settings, I have it set to lock instantly when power button pressed or when screen times out. After a few unlocks the phone will no longer require I use my fingerprint and just asks me to swipe to unlock. When I go back to the secure lock settings, lock instantly is no longer selected. Rather, the option for "maximum" (which is oddly set to 34 minutes and 7 seconds) is what is selected. I change it back to lock instantly, but then after a while it reverts back to the maximum setting.
After some web searching, there was someone else with this issue, but it turned out to be their Smart Lock settings. I double checked on my phone and all Smart Lock settings are disabled. For the life of me I cannot figure out why the secure lock setting keeps changing.
I currently have no password on my lock screen meaning that anyone can unlock my phone. But when I go into my device settings to set a password for the lock screen it ask's me to enter a pin. I can't for the life of me remember what this pin is as before I had always used the fingerprint unlock and never a pin? But this means that I now can't secure my lock screen. Does anyone know if there is a way around this - e.g any way I can change it through my Google account online or something?
