Screen Lock secured with a pin - Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I currently have no password on my lock screen meaning that anyone can unlock my phone. But when I go into my device settings to set a password for the lock screen it ask's me to enter a pin. I can't for the life of me remember what this pin is as before I had always used the fingerprint unlock and never a pin? But this means that I now can't secure my lock screen. Does anyone know if there is a way around this - e.g any way I can change it through my Google account online or something?

[Q] New update lock screen failure?

Not sure if anyone has tried but when you set a PIN, lock pattern etc after you have set the update, it doesn't actually require you to enter this lock pattern / PIN when you turn the screen back on.
Occasionally it does but generally you can unlock the phone simply by swiping the stand unlock screen bar across the screen.
Does anyone know how to fix this?
Even if you don't is anyone experiencing the same situation??

My Phone Always Locks with the Power Button EVEN though I turned Instant Lock off?

Hello,
my Galaxy S4 always locks the screen, even with Instant Power Lock disabled. Its so annoying to always enter my pin. I did a reset but this did not seem to help.
Please advice.
Go to Settings - My device - Lock screen - Screen lock - None (for disable the screen lock or select other options for configure it: Swipe, Face unlock, Pattern, Pin or Password)

Thats not what I want. I want a screen lock. But I want the screenlock after a certain amount of minutes or seconds. I dont want "pressing the power key" to lock the screen.
On my friends S4 it worked with version 4.2.2 but I have 4.4.2 installed. Its either my phone (hardware) or a bug.
Check my photo below please.

Neptune Pine PIN Query

I recently bought a Neptune Pine. Can anyone advise on how to remove the PIN lock that appears everytime it switches on or is 'woken up?
I know the PIN (I set it when exploring the settings) but it is a pain to have to type it in every time. But when I go to settings there is just the line that says 'Security' then below it 'PIN'. It first asks to confirm PIN (which I do) and then seems to go back to the same screen. I had been expecting a 'turn off PIN lock' option something, but no luck. Any suggestions?
Thanks.
Does you mean the PIN on lock screen or PIN for device encryption?
For PIN on lock screen, just go to Security > Screen lock and change to anything other than PIN. (Swipe or none) You have to input your existing PIN in order to change this setting.
Thanks but the problem is that after I put in the PIN from within settings, it goes to a menu where the only options open are PIN and PASSWORD. 'None' 'Slide' and 'pattern are all disabled....

Fingerprint unlock issue

Recently I started having an issue with fingerprint unlocking.
When I press the home key and put my thumb on it, the screen registered the thumb by the display getting slightly smaller then bigger and vibrating, but it doesn't unlock or change from the lock screen.
If I setup away the lock screen notifications or swipe to get to the "enter password or fingerprint" screen then it will unlock normally.
It seems to have simmering to do with notifications being on the lock screen.
Any ideas?
Help. I used the fingerprint lock screen method. Now on The Samsung s7, is asking for a password, after shutting down the phone, then back on. I can't get any passwords to work to release the locked screen. What do I do

why u posted on a two old month post?
and that situation looks like a stolen phone lol
when u set up fingerprint lock the phone ask u for a secondary method to unlock like pattern, pin or password (u can't setup figerprint unlock w/o doing this), when u reboot the phone ALWAYS ask u for that method on the first unlock, then u can use fingerprint as usual

Android 6.0.1 - Lock Screen Pattern No Longer Accepted

Hello, looking for some help with resetting my phone's lock screen pattern unlock. I use fingerprint unlock as my primary unlock method and lock screen pattern unlock as my secondary. Recently, I've gotten into the habit of unlocking my phone via pattern instead of fingerprint. However as I tried to unlock my phone via pattern unlock yesterday, it didn't accept it and my phone locked me out for periods of time. I can still unlock my phone via fingerprint and if I'm in a trusted location (Home). I have no idea why my pattern is no longer being accepted.
As I'm still able to unlock my phone via fingerprint/trusted location, I went to settings to reset my lock screen pattern, but it requires the lock screen pattern to reset/change to a new lock screen pattern. Because my lock screen pattern is not being accepted I can't change/reset my lock screen pattern.
Is there anyway I can get around lock screen pattern to change to a new lock screen pattern?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Edit: Thanks guys, I was actually able to unlock and reset the pattern with 'Find My Mobile' Samsung service.
Hi onechionly,
How were you able to reset the pattern?
My wife ran into the same thing with her Samsung Galaxy Edge S7. She had a pattern and fingerprint set up. One day, her pattern no longer worked but the fingerprint worked fine. She can unlock with the fingerprint but if she had to change lock options (new pattern or a PIN), the phone asks for her pattern lock and she can't get further.
We logged into her Find My Mobile, but I couldn't find an option to "reset" the pattern. The closest thing I found was to lock her phone using a PIN and she can go in, but that's not the issue. The phone requires a pattern to access further security options in Settings.
If you provide more details, I would greatly appreciate it.
