Untill i was using MIUI everything was fine but after I flashed lineage OS 14.1 camera quality is decreased but still it was fine. Then i tried different gcam mods and flashed a couple of zip files in hope that camera will became better but it's quality is totally low now. Even i reverted back to MIUI to see if that fix the issue but still its persisting. I have tried Miui Stock Camera, Bacon Camera, Open Camera all having the same issue.
About Issue : On taking a picture from distance it becomes blurry the more I increase distance more it will become blurry. Picture starts to blurr after moving the camera away more than 30cm (i know it's hard to believe)
Check the screen shots and plzzz help me...

I think, thats your camera problem Not the rom / apps problem.
Yes your camera isnt using focus just flash some zip files for focus and it will work again thats the cameras focus problem
It happened with me, i had to disassemble my mobile and adjust camera module a bit to get the focus right.
Follow this guide on https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pcLhQtdzY4A, its not for our device but you can have a loot at it for a reference.

i dont have this bug on the officle rom..
any solution?
Our Heros baaaad camera? =)
no i think he means the 'cubes' on the picture, you can see it better when it is a bit smaller, http://hero.host-il.co.il/IMAG0001.jpg, click on that link and not make it bigger(so it fits in your webbrowser screen)
Dude exactly the same problem that I have with all 2.1 roms... I already reported:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=6148051#post6148051
take a look at the next posts too... i think it's a driver/software problem, because with 1.6 i don't have the problem...
there must be a solution, any chance if we somehow replace the camera app from a 1.6 build ?
edit:
seems somebody is working on a fix... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=662436

Exactly .. These strange cubes..
any Solutions?
while they may be working on a fix, the issue will be fixed when we have an official rom and therefore official camera drivers in the kernel.
This thread had me puzzled for a while as I couldn't see the effect, until I followed some of the links & found a photo of someone's pc screen.
What you're seeing is a moiré pattern. It doesn't reflect a bug in the image creation software. If anything's faulty is the software you're using to view scaled images; it's making a crap job of scaling the image using an inadequate sampling technique, probably point sampling.
The reason you are only seeing it with certain image sources is probably down to dithering. Moiré patterns appear when an image is sampled which contains a very fine repeating pattern. In this case it could well be something as innocent as the camera driver using an ordered dither to improve the image. OTOH it is possible the driver is introducing an erroneous fine repeating pattern of tonal variations.
Either way, you won't see any issues if you use decent software to view or process your images. For example, I couldn't see any issues when viewing images in Chrome or XNView. Windows built in software is a different matter, no surprise.
Yeah, same here. I could not see the effect being described in post one on my MacBook no matter how long or how scaled the image was in my browser.
I do however see it on the link posted above of the computer screen. I have to agree that it is not an issue with the camera or the phone software itself..
It is a software issue of the phone...
How come older pics taken with Android 1.6 builds are being scaled OK?
Is there an option to use the front facing camera in the default camera app? I know it is less of quality, but it would be handy for use while taking self portraits with my friends.

yes, if you look at the engadget unboxing video, the camera source is in the settings
I took a picture for you. It's very easy, you just tap the "Switch camera" option basically restarts the Camera application with the new camera in use. Very intuitive.

I really really realllly hope that I can use the front facing camera in Skype. If not natively then by rooting. This would be the major feature for me.
iChat compatible app = win.
Sprint HTC EVO 4G Developer Guide
In the Sprint developer website, developer.sprint.com, we have a developer guide and a sample app/with source code that shows how to utilize the forward facing camera and other features of the HTC EVO 4G

Thanks for taking the picture! I just hope there is a way to get skype on Sprint now. I have heard that it is only for VZW customers....
my phone hasn't arrive yet, so i can't check it myself
Can some one check in the stock Camera software to see if it has the Night Mode option?
if not, we should get a port over of the SGS camera App.apk which offers very good Night Mode even at near dark conditions
Thanks!

Nope, no night mode. I did love that feature on my Vibrant as the flash will only work a certain distance. The camera app is the same (or at least looks it) as the stock builds for N1 or Cyanogen Mods. I would love to keep my stock camera, but add the SGS camera as a secondary app.
thanks! for the confirmation.
okay, time to dig out the APK and files related to the stock SGS camera

and that is exactly the reason why i prefer the Night Mode, than a flash
the only use i have for the Flash is to use it as a flash lite to look for stuff in a dark room

If you're gonna pull it, any way for you to name it something like SGScamera and post it up here? That way perhaps we can get it working in conjunction with the stock. I also loved the tap to focus, which stock doesn't have unfortunately.
I think you'll get the same issue as when trying to pull the browser from the i9000; it won't run due to incompatibilities between froyo and gingerbread.
There are a few bits Samsung put in later galaxy s roms that would be nice to see in gingerbread. Its open source so why not?
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
HUH? THERE IS NIGHT MODE.
Click the right most (or upper most) button, scroll down to "scene mod" and select NIGHT.
Only issue is, the camera preview slows to a crawl, but thats probably normal.
this camera/phone has some of the best low light and night pictures i have ever seen from a phone
Wow..hot damn. I'm sorry for the misinformation. I tried scrolling down in that menu the very first time I opened it and it didn't work, so I figured that was all. Thanks for the correction!!
*happy dance*
Hi, I was having a play with one earlier - and it appeared that when you take a picture there is no way within the app to see the picture you just took? You have to exit out and go into gallery?
Is there a way around this? Ta
There is an list of latest taken photos on right side... You can even expand it & then it shows all files in image-folder...
Take a look:

Thanks, I thought it strange there was no way to do this. Buy the model I was playing with (three uk branded) definatly didn't have it - must be different rom versions?
Thanks anyway
Remember that you can flash a normal non-messed up rom from the dev section,
like my orange uk version, is now a on the global rom minus the orange bloatware

If you swipe the thumbnails to the right, they will disappear... if you swipe from the very right edge of the screen toward the centre.. they will come back!... same with the menus on the other side (but in reverse!)
Is it possible to remove compression from our phone? Try to take a picture and the size only around 700kb when i use 8mp setting.
you can use vignette off the market - but in the tests I've done it doesn't really improve the image quality very much at all.. and actually in some shots I preferred the stock camera's results.
yeah, i like the result of the stock camera apps. But when i transfer the file to my PC and zoom it, the quality still not too good because of the compression. that is why i'm trying to remove the compression.
Wait for my MOD once we get root
I will add photo preview too
Is there any way to have multi shots option???
To press camera button and take 3-5 pictures in a row...
I miss that capability....

Yeah but pray that we get root before the SGS2 get it, I will not keep a phone without root undefinitly
Hello everybody.
I just bought note 4, but i found a stupid issue, the g-sensor in camera is wrong calibrated.
When i hold the phone vertically, the spot in surround mode or virtual tour shows wrong place.
P.S.
My device is new without root.
Tried other same devices, same issue. Others doesn't.
I tried sensor calibration apps. No result.

Any idea?
Does Surround mode even work in vertical position? I assume you have no problem using it horrizontaly.
I thought I replied to this, but I don't see the reply anymore
That's normal... it just means your camera isn't level - move it up to the circle and it'll start taking pictures .

I don't think he wants an up - down surround, but rather a left - right.

Surround mode will do up, down, left, and right - it's a 360 pano, like PhotoSphere. If you just need a left-right pano, then use Panoramic mode :good:

No worries - that said, I had an update for both the panoramic mode and surround mode through the Galaxy App store in the past few days. Not sure what they fixed or if it works better - no changelog.
Thanks to all for replies.. but the problem that it must shoot at vertical. I can move up. But in virtual mode it will shoot sky..
I think the problem in the calibration if sensors
