Use Front Camera In Camera App? - EVO 4G General

Is there an option to use the front facing camera in the default camera app? I know it is less of quality, but it would be handy for use while taking self portraits with my friends.

yes, if you look at the engadget unboxing video, the camera source is in the settings

I took a picture for you. It's very easy, you just tap the "Switch camera" option basically restarts the Camera application with the new camera in use. Very intuitive.

I really really realllly hope that I can use the front facing camera in Skype. If not natively then by rooting. This would be the major feature for me.

iChat compatible app = win.

Sprint HTC EVO 4G Developer Guide
In the Sprint developer website, developer.sprint.com, we have a developer guide and a sample app/with source code that shows how to utilize the forward facing camera and other features of the HTC EVO 4G
Thanks

Thanks for taking the picture! I just hope there is a way to get skype on Sprint now. I have heard that it is only for VZW customers....

front camera access

is there anyway to access the front camera of the unbranded tp2 when not making video calls? i got a program called webcam plus 2.0 that i cam use with skype by using the back camera, but itd be easier if i could use the front camera
this, i would also like to know
me too
#4
.......
i want use the front camera too u_u
@all here:
take a look to this app: WebCamera Plus, also CoolCamera you can find on her site.
Screenshots are here. There you will read something like Front Sensor (second screenshot). I think this is what you all searching for.
have one of you guys ever used your phone/front cam for videocalling?? i've tried a couple of times but it never worked..
is there a front camera? I have a t-mobile htc tp2 and thought that it did not have a camera. Google Kai's Make Up Mirror. Let me know if it works.
Not on Tmobile, verizon, and sprint..
Unbranded TP2
I have an unbranded Touch Pro 2 and to access the front face camera you have to press camera>click tab box next to shutter tab> Menu> Camera and it should switch to the front camera.
If your in the states and have an unbranded Pro 2 then you cant make a Video call because, and this is what T-mobile tells me, the towers in the US wont support the video call function...even if you have 3G.
This actually the reason I got the Pro 2 and the reasons I bought the Kaiser...So the front facing camera is only for show in the US but over seas it works like a charm.
The new Iphone have a front facing camera that I'm assuming will support video calls
I doubt it since you can never guarantee you're going to be in a 3g area or the person you are calling is. The front camera is probable for Skype, MSN, etc. Video calling would work fine if you live in Europe.
I click on camera -> tab -> Camera Icon and these are my choices

Tried to insert a picture but it was not uploaded.
Anyway when I click on camera -> tab -> cameria icon, my choices are photo, video, panarama, voice messaging, contacts picture ad picture theme. What are you choices?
I can guarantee you there is no front-facing camera in the US T-Mobile version of this phone.
I thought so, but what the heck. It is mentioned in the camera help files (I was really bored one day) but it also mentions that it was not on all models. Back to looking at the rss feeds.

[Q] Night Mode photos?

my phone hasn't arrive yet, so i can't check it myself
Can some one check in the stock Camera software to see if it has the Night Mode option?
if not, we should get a port over of the SGS camera App.apk which offers very good Night Mode even at near dark conditions
Thanks!

Nope, no night mode. I did love that feature on my Vibrant as the flash will only work a certain distance. The camera app is the same (or at least looks it) as the stock builds for N1 or Cyanogen Mods. I would love to keep my stock camera, but add the SGS camera as a secondary app.
thanks! for the confirmation.
okay, time to dig out the APK and files related to the stock SGS camera

and that is exactly the reason why i prefer the Night Mode, than a flash
the only use i have for the Flash is to use it as a flash lite to look for stuff in a dark room

If you're gonna pull it, any way for you to name it something like SGScamera and post it up here? That way perhaps we can get it working in conjunction with the stock. I also loved the tap to focus, which stock doesn't have unfortunately.
I think you'll get the same issue as when trying to pull the browser from the i9000; it won't run due to incompatibilities between froyo and gingerbread.
There are a few bits Samsung put in later galaxy s roms that would be nice to see in gingerbread. Its open source so why not?

HUH? THERE IS NIGHT MODE.
Click the right most (or upper most) button, scroll down to "scene mod" and select NIGHT.
Only issue is, the camera preview slows to a crawl, but thats probably normal.
this camera/phone has some of the best low light and night pictures i have ever seen from a phone
Wow..hot damn. I'm sorry for the misinformation. I tried scrolling down in that menu the very first time I opened it and it didn't work, so I figured that was all. Thanks for the correction!!

two things I hate about desire hd

1. there is no Time-stamp on taken photos.
2. when shooting video you cannot pause then resume the same shot!!!
why?

about the timestamp... isnt it somewhere in the camera app settings?
If you enable geotag it will timestamp your photos.
Cheers from my DHD.
Remix2 - not sure what that link was you posted... doesn't work. Does it offer a solution to the pausing video recording issue?

I think there are some camera apps that can include time-stamp on the photos.
I don't remember there is any mobile phone out there that has the function of pausing a recording video and continue.

My k800i flashed to k810i has that ability.
One more thing I hate the DHD that's the HTC incoming call screen.
Make 2 videos and stick them together with virtual dub its not that hard

hmm....like what the fruit phone will say - 'there's an app for that'
try full screen call app.
You can check what time / date a photo was taken on by going into the gallery and long pressing on a photo, then choose Details

Question about Camera app

Hi, I was having a play with one earlier - and it appeared that when you take a picture there is no way within the app to see the picture you just took? You have to exit out and go into gallery?
Is there a way around this? Ta
There is an list of latest taken photos on right side... You can even expand it & then it shows all files in image-folder...
Take a look:

Thanks, I thought it strange there was no way to do this. Buy the model I was playing with (three uk branded) definatly didn't have it - must be different rom versions?
Thanks anyway
Remember that you can flash a normal non-messed up rom from the dev section,
like my orange uk version, is now a on the global rom minus the orange bloatware

If you swipe the thumbnails to the right, they will disappear... if you swipe from the very right edge of the screen toward the centre.. they will come back!... same with the menus on the other side (but in reverse!)
Is it possible to remove compression from our phone? Try to take a picture and the size only around 700kb when i use 8mp setting.
you can use vignette off the market - but in the tests I've done it doesn't really improve the image quality very much at all.. and actually in some shots I preferred the stock camera's results.
yeah, i like the result of the stock camera apps. But when i transfer the file to my PC and zoom it, the quality still not too good because of the compression. that is why i'm trying to remove the compression.
Wait for my MOD once we get root
I will add photo preview too
Is there any way to have multi shots option???
To press camera button and take 3-5 pictures in a row...
I miss that capability....

[Gallery] Disable Photo enhancement?

Hello people. Is there any known solution to how to disable automatic photo contrast corection in stock gallery app? Its really anyoing, especially when you edit your photos yourself and then gallery change it anyway. Maybe its just about to change some value in apk file? Could someone please look at it? it would really help me, thanks people
i dident even knew it does this

first i didnt know either, i was wondering why some photos looks so weird, too much contrasted even i knew that i the light condidion was good, then i noticed, when you press edit in gallery, the gallery disable enhancement in preview, look:
{

"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
sometimes the pictures are to much colorful compared to original, it just makes the photos look bad. Now im using piktures app, but i would like to stay with with original, but i cant yet.
PS. Maybe you havent noticed the feautre similiar to Qualcomms "Assertive display", you can read about it there https://www.qualcomm.com/news/snapd...ay-power-efficient-technology-thats-easy-eyes , huawei has it too, its useful and interesting
but dude this looks like when you press edit it THEN applies somekind of effect. not until you press it. or is it.. well ill be damned.
just saying maybe it doesent DISABLE it when you press edit, maybe just than it enables some kind of effect.
