In my market, it says i have all these apps not installed. But they are all installed. When i click on them it doesnt say install, it says open. The apps run fine n are in my drawer. Is there a way to fix this? Its just really annoying when my "Pro" keys arent being used. Like, titanium backup says im using the free version when i have the pro version installed, same for my launcher pro key.

EDIT: can this be moved to the Q&A section, accidentally put in general. Thank you.
Same thing with me... google maps, youtube, and a few others are in the Not installed section, but when you select them it says installed, and you only have the option to open. I'm assuming they are still being checked for updates when I open Market... at least I hope they are. More annoying than anything else. Any thoughts?
Open up the "Manage Applications" and find Market. Clear the cache and reopen. Should show up now. Had to do that on mine.

Yeah, have tried that multiple times to no avail.

I have the same problem, and agree it is annoying.
It started happening when I did a titanium backup after unlocking. So I guess there must have been some problem syncronizing with market after.
I have solved the problem by uninstalling the applications that were listed as needing updates even though they were already updated. And when reinstalled, the notification went away. It's not a very elegant way of fixing the problem, I know.
If anyone else has a better solution, please advise.
I learned this method from another forum (can't remember where); it always works for me:
Exit all applications on the phone
Home > Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > All
Market: Clear Cache, Clear Data (OK)
Google Services Framework: Clear Cache, Clear Data (OK)
Reboot your phone
Open Market app and Accept the TOS
Market > Settings > Content filtering > Set level > Show all apps (OK)
Market > My Apps: no more missing apps, or false positives for updates
I've tested this many times with the new Market app on my AT&T phone in both stock GB and piCRUST. It always fixes the display of installed apps within the Market app itself. But the list of apps showing on the Market web site under My Account (https://market.android.com/account) may not be immediately updated with the results. Sometimes the Market web site will be updated later rather than sooner, or only partially rather than completely. But this local fix will usually affect the web listing to at least some degree.
(Space reserved for future rant on market web site lameness...)
Did it, now i get a server error everytime i open the market. Just reinstall apk of new market?
EDIT: just used task killer to kill it all then retried n it worked. All my apps are saying installed. Thanks so much.

I see that error occasionally after using this fix, but I also sometimes see it after re-flashing the phone, and after other seemingly unrelated actions. It usually goes away for me if I just turn on wireless first before opening the Market app (no need to reinstall it). I think it's related to some error in the app or settings initialization, and not specific to this clean-up routine or anything else.
And yes, I've found that using a task killer also seems to help. Maybe indicative of another app blocking the Market from opening correctly at first run? I don't know, but once it goes away it doesn't seem to come back.
Thanks, this worked flawlessly.
Could I suggest you add "Solved" to the title of this thread so others that might have the same issue could use this?

Got it. Ive had to re do this fix after my phone shuts off, so its not permanent on my device. It might be for you, either way, it fixes it for awhile.

One other thing that will confuse the Market about what's kosher: using a non-standard LCD density.
In my case I had hard-coded build.prop to set ro.sf.lcd_density=300 and ever since I did that the Market website kept telling me that most of the apps I'd previously installed were not compatible with my Atrix 4G(!) My workaround was to revert to the default ro.sf.lcd_density=240 and then use the "LCDDensity" app to temporarily set it to 300. Whenever I need to go to the Market for something I just reboot the phone first and it reverts back to the default setting in build.prop.
If you've got it the other way around (e.g. build.prop is using a non-default setting, and you're using LCDDensity to override this back to the default), then that might explain why you're seeing this Market mischief return on reboot.
Even if you're not using LCDDensity (or you're using something else like "LCD Density Changer" which can make these changes permanent), you might want to check your current LCD density. Ditto for other property settings that might not be using their defaults.
Here's a list of all the things that the Market looks for to determine if a particular phone is compatible with an app:
https://developer.android.com/guide/appendix/market-filters.html
As the title says. Random apps are disappearing from my phone, and also appear as uninstalled in the Play Store. Their data and settings remain intact, as re-installing the app restores everything to how it should be.
It seems to happen after the phone is turned off and on again, but not every time.
Anyone seen this happen before, and know what the cause is? I've been using HyperDroid for ages, and haven't changed anything recently.
Okay, before I start, this is the first time I see such a problem.
I know a similar case where the whole phone would factory reset upon each restart, but not apps uninstalling. So please don't flame me if I post some insane
Maybe it's your sd card dying (do they die?) and your apps are on it? You haven't changed ANYTHING recently?

The SD-Card is ok, and some apps are on it. It's not just SD-apps disappearing either - some that have been on the internal storage too. I have not changed anything since this started.
I mentioned this to my wife after I posted this thread, and she's been getting the exact same problem. However, she uses a STOCK HTC Rhyme! So it's not just me or the HyperDroid ROM or my HD2.
I'm not sure the apps are really being removed, but any sign of them in the app draw and Google Play is being removed. I didn't check to see if the apk was still present, as the last app to disappear was GO SMS, and I needed it back ASAP.
If/when it happens again, I will check for the apk and data files - I suspect they will still be there, as evidenced by the app settings being unchanged after re-installing the app.

don't forget that depending on your google account backup settings, the app data may be automatically being restored from their backup when you reinstall the app.
Im not saying it IS being restored, and you are probably right, the data probably is still there, just pointing out that that's not a certainty.
Ive seen apps vanish, but only a month or two ago, on the beta/pre beta JB roms, and the apk was still there, just suddenly not installed.
Hello,
Yesterday, several apps I downloaded through the google play store (sideloaded weeks ago, never had any issues) and one from the amazon app store are grayed out and I get an error when I try opening them that says "SD card not available" and goes on to tell me the SD card where the app installed isn't available. I've never had an SD card in the tablet. I can click "download again," but of course that brings me to the amazon app store.
I have tried re-installing, force stopping and clearing caches, restarting, and updating apps. The weird thing is I can get to the apps if I take another route in ie. if I go on google maps (not affected by issue) and go to a restaurant's website, it opens in Chrome (app affected by issue). Then, Chrome runs normal.
If it makes any difference, the apps that don't work are Chrome, Gmail, YouTube, Memrise, Hulu, and Google Sheets.
Thanks in advance for any help!

I had the same problem today with Aquamail. I went to another launcher that I had installed through the Play Store, and uninstalled it from there. Then a reinstall worked. And then the icon for the app appeared in both launchers. I have no idea why it said it was an error with the SD card. There's just some bug with whatever new update they gave us. But that's the only app I had it occur on.

Hmm, I tried uninstalling the app in every way I can think of - including through the play store - and no dice. I have also found that when I uninstall the app, the icon doesn't go away. When I uninstall from the play store and try to uninstall from the home screen, it says the app wasn't found in the list of installed apps. But when I tap to open, it gives the same SD card error.
I'm still really puzzled by the fact this isn't limited to google play apps...does that mean it's something with the OS?

The way I uninstalled was by going to another launcher (total launcher) . You tried that also? I only had it happen with that one app, and it was from the Google Play Store. As far as why it's happening, I really don't know. But it seems to have happened to me today, which makes me think it had something to do with an update either yesterday or today.

Oh no I haven't tried another launcher - didn't know what that was until I just looked.
I also notice that every app I update grays out now. Newly installed apps don't appear on the home screen. However, they all open fine if I open it through the app store or another functioning app. So I'm wondering if I uninstall it through total launcher if it won't even appear on the home screen once re-installed.
How do you install a launcher? I installed one, but when I hit the home button, it brings me back to the default Amazon launcher.

It sounds like this won't help you, but I'll point you to it anyway. Look for the XDA thread called New: Any Launcher, No Root (Launcher Hijack V3). This talks about installing other launchers and hijacking the home button. Sorry that I can't think of anything else. You might try I factory reset and start over, but you may not want to do that, and it may not solve your problem.

Sorry, I didn't see one of your posts. I have also had the problem where anything I install does not show on the fire launcher home screen. But it will show on other launchers. This started yesterday or today for me, so something in one of the updates caused this. If you use another launcher it will probably solve the problem of not seeing the apps on a home screen. But you said it did not help your problem with those that you cannot delete. Evie is a nice launcher that is simple to use, so you might start with that one.
I think I was wrong in what I told you before. I thought I was able to uninstall aquamail which said something about requiring the SD card. But it just happened to me with a different app, and I get that sd card error. So I think I was misled because I uninstalled it and then reinstalled over in the other launcher. Then when I looked back on the fire launcher, the icon was there and it could be clicked. But if you really want to get rid of it and not reinstall, I don't see a way to do that yet. Sorry to have been on the wrong track.

Okay, I learned a little more. I'm not sure if all of these steps are necessary. But I went to settings, apps and games, All, Home Pages. That's the fire launcher. I cleared its cache and data and force stopped. Then when it is launched again, the apps that couldn't be deleted are now no longer showing. However, if you had arranged all the icons in some kind of order, now it is all alphabetical. I also think that newly installed apps do show, but I haven't really done much testing with it yet. I'm mostly sticking with another launcher. So I don't really care about the fire launcher, but once in awhile, I might like to use it. So it's good to see that we can clean these things up.
EDIT: Ignore what I said about it now being alphabetical. It seems to be in the order that apps are added.
Got the same Problem now, but on a new Fire HD8!
Apps were running fine yesterday or a day before and now 3 apps installed from Google Play Store are Grayed out and give the error "SD-Card not Available" and i should insert the same SD-Card... (never had extra any inside). And its only Apps from Play Store. All three Apps are Smarthome apps: Philips HUE, Kasa and Yonomi. The funny Thing.. If I open The Google Playstore and and search my app, then i can either deinstall or open app. And if i open app from there it works...he starts app with no Problem.
Curious this happens to others at the same time...

No, i am using the Stock Launcher and didnt do any changes to that. Besides that i do have the Option to deinstall the Apps and the Apps are still running fine, but only when opened from Play Store.
And i dont think deleting cache or forcing stop of App will do any good as long as the Apps itslf still work.
Yea, there must have been some minor update. He showed me something in system updates, but OS is still 5.6.0.0

I'm talking about clearing cache, data, and force stop of the Home Pages app itself. I'm not talking about the apps that you installed. Try it and see what happens.

Well not exactly the same... In Your Post you say to Stop/End the Launcher.. Thats different to Appstore.
I dont like fondling around with launchers... And i dont want other Launchers than Stock or missing/deleted Icons And Installing other Launcher to fix a problem is no alternative
You are right that I overlooked the part about App Store. I assumed that person was telling you to do the same thing that I did.
You don't have to install other launchers. I was just giving an example of how you could see the apps and do what you needed to do by installing another launcher. I wrote that part before I realized what the "fix" was for the stock launcher. But if you want the original stock launcher to work, you will need to do the steps that I mentioned. Clear cache and data and then force stop for Home Pages, which is the name of the stock launcher

I had the same problem, your advice:

pulled out all the problems, thank you. I had three programs, including PLAY STORE, give that error message and then grey out and become unclickable and unable to be removed. I had did a factory reset three times in two days, and then couldn't get PLAY STORE or any apps downloaded through it to show up on the HOME screen. your suggestion of clearing the "Home Pages" cache and data brought everything working properly. Thank you.

Glad I could help. It's happened to me a couple more times. I learned that the easiest way is just doing a force stop on the Home Pages app. Clearing cache and data means a little more work when the launcher comes back up (it wants you to step through some instructional screens, but I think you can exit out of them) . But if you don't have another launcher to switch to, I don't think you can do the force stop while you are actually using Home Pages as the home launcher. I can't be sure about that because I am rooted now, so the behavior might be different if I was not rooted.
Clearing cache and data probably works for all cases, so maybe that's the way to go. I've made it a little more confusing by adding the detail that I just did in that first paragraph!
Slowly does it

I had this problem. Tried everything to no avail
But I left my fire 10 on all day as I use alexa a lot and the greyed out icons slowly came back.
Restarted the tablet and they where greyed out again but they came back quicker this time.
I know it's a pain to leave it on but something seems to be running slow in the os,
Not a permanent fix but it may help until an update os comes out
I disabled automatic updates in playstore settings but for some reason apps are still auto-updating. Its getting to be pretty annoying too because every time I remove a bloatware app it just downloads and reinstalls it.
How do I stop this??

Try clearing Play Store data/cache (settings->apps) followed by a reboot. You will need to update/reapply personal settings, including the master toggle for automatic updates.

Most of them are in the oem partition anyways. So remove them from there. But do it in twrp file manager, because trying to edit oem while booted will lock up the device.

Also before deleting from oem, first just try renaming them (with a ~ at the end for example) to make sure it's safe to remove. Then boot up and check, if all is good then you delete if you want. Many people delete things, then come back here asking if anyone has a copy because they deleted something they needed.

Also before deleting from oem, first just try renaming them (with a ~ at the end for example) to make sure it's safe to remove. Then boot up and check, if all is good then you delete if you want. Many people delete things, then come back here asking if anyone has a copy because they deleted something they needed.
Just to be safe.

Yea this ain't my first rodeo. I've bricked far too many devices to make that mistake again. I only did away with the crap I was 100% certain was just that, crap, ie boost zone, amazon, facebook, etc. Though I'm still trying to figure out what it was I removed that rendered system webview permanently frozen, but I made a separate thread regarding that.

I was talking to the person I quoted. To make sure they did it correctly.
Sounds like you did a bunch of stuff that could have caused your issue.
