I've the exynos variant of the Galaxy S8 and I've slight judder and frame skipping whenever I try watching videos on it using the stock player or any third party player for that matter. It only happens when the hardware decoder is selected to play the file.
On software deciding it plays just fine without any judder or frame skipping. I tried playing the files with other phones of mine and all of them play them flawlessly.
I was unable to understand why this has been happening. On apps like Netflix and Amazon Prime the video is buttery smooth without any judder or frame skipping. This only happens when I try to play the files that are stored on the phone. Can someone help me out?

I can be watching a tv episode, or a movie, doesn't matter. 75% through the file and the audio starts over at the beginning while the video continues to play through as normal. Making it impossible to finish a movie. I have tried wiping, trying different ROMS, different media players, and also different video converters. I am converting hdtv, bd, and regular avis into mp4 format with video at 600kb/s and audio from 96 to 128kbps keeping the framerate the same as source, and have also tried changing framerate to 23.97 and other fps settings to no avail. The video and audio play perfectly fine for the first hour or so then magically my problem happens, the audio starts over and the video plays as normal. What on earth is causing this? It's very frustrating. I have been dealing with this for months and had given up, but now that dexter season 5 is out, I MUST WATCH IT!
Any help is GREATLY appreciated. I am currently running Sparksmod 1.6.
Also I should probably note, when I watch these converted files on the PC they play perfectly fine all the way through.
Hi. Im running the newest virtuousXoom rom and experiencing odd playback issues with any video player i use on a 720p video file.
Mx Player for example plays the video EXTREMELY fast in hardware mode. I had though this may have had something to do with my cpu speed so clocked the tablet down. This changed nothing.
However if i OC to 1600mhz the video and audio are fine, but only in software mode. There maybe a very slight shudder in video.
Any clock setting below that renders the video unplayable.
I got this tablet for use when i go over seas in the next couple of weeks with hopes of being able to watch my movie collection without needing to convert every movie.
The hardware seems very capable so i can only guess at this point maybe its software related? Hell who knows i could be thirty different kinds of wrong.
The main question is, is there any program that will play these video files correctly?
TIA for any info anyone can give me.
mobo player. It plays all videos and content with a soft decode option.
bsplayer, and mirage beta worked best for me...
the two players that seem to work best for me are bsplayer and mirage beta.. good luck tho, it can be hit and miss with mkv and mp4..most straight avi files work fine though on most players. mobo did not impress me, as one person suggested.. best luck
I've been having a strange problem recently. No root/ROM...etc
Whenever I play a YouTube video, and regardless of how blazing fast my internet is, the video keeps freezing and resuming while the audio continues uninterrupted. Any help there?
Thanks
Same problem with Netflix too
I'm having the same problem. Not just Youtube, Netflix as well. Only with mine; the audio lags behind the video. I would love to find a solution for this.
-Verizon Note 3
-Stock 4.4.2 that it shipped with.
-Audio lag on videos, right out of the box. No foreign apps installed yet besides Netflix.
I was trying out playing some mkv files on my Gold Galaxy S7 Edge and I noticed some horrible issue in playing videos, whether it be with the video player app on board or third party like MX Player. The audio will play and the video is about a second off afterwards and it irritates me how could this happen on a top 2016 flagship. Has anyone else encountered the same issue and know if there's a fix? I've tried other mkv files and the same thing happens to them too.
I started experiencing that large video playing on YouTube lags the sound, especially when a video is long. The sounds go way ahead from the video. It looks like the phone lacks the ram or performance but it has a decent tech specification, should be an issue, especially when I play a video on a low resolution. Has anyone else experienced the same issue?
I have a similar issue with video playback. However, it is not only with youtube, it is with all videos. Even those on google photos, etc. The playback timer doesn't start, but the video starts with no sound, then the playback timer starts with the sound and the video freezes until the sound catches up with the video. The issue disappears with a restart and only started happening recently. Very odd.
Made an account for this lul... Anyways it seems like I fixed the issue on my phone, I disabled the mobile manager, let me know if that works for you. Good luck
I had to update youtube
