Replaced the battery on the Tab Pro 8.4 - Galaxy Tab Pro 12.2, 10.1, 8.4 General

It took less than 10 minutes to actually replace the battery in this thing. It took me 4 times longer to replace the battery in my Moto 360.
So far it's charging much faster than my old original battery. I have had my Tab Pro 8.4 since it came out. I got the replacement battery from Amazon.
I used a couple of youtube videos to get an idea of what to do and the replacement battery came with more tools than I actually even needed.
I'll update in 2 weeks about how my experience has been with it.

Yes please would really appreciate a detailed feedback and guide on if you still think it's worse it. I love this tablet. Perhaps a suggestion for the currently most efficient rom (batterylife/performance). Looking forward to hearing from you!

The ROM I'm using is Resurrection Remix Nougat 7.1.1_r25-NOF27B RR-N-v5.8.2-20170401-mondrianwifi-Unofficial
After fully charging to 100% yesterday I took the Tab Pro 8.4 to my cigar shop and used it for a full cigar smoke, used it later that evening at home for about 30 minutes, left it on the table overnight w/ wifi on, and now I'm at work with it and it's at a 30% charge. I have to say I haven't had this much life out of it since the 1st year I had this. Granted this is just over 14 hours of on time since the full charge so the performance will definitely change over the next 2 weeks of use but this is a great sign so far.
The Battery I got from Amazon was this:
ANTIEE T4800E New Laptop Battery Replacement For Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4" Tablet PC Notebook SM-T325 T320 T321 T4800C T4800K 4800mAh 3.7V
$15

Sounds good, will give it go! Thank you

I've had my tablet a little bit after it came out so the battery isn't holding up as much anymore but it's still working (yes I've reset my battery many times). Looking forward to your update or if anyone else has any other source for good replacement batteries, we would like to hear it.
Thanks
David C.

I just also replaced my battery with a highend battery same hz (4800) im not sure of its the lineage OS rom I'm running but I don't seem to see something to write home about unfortunatey...
There isn't even an option to fast charge this tablet with this rom *when the stock rom would chrage it in less than an hour and hold its charge) where as i spend a good 8 hour charge to get to near 1oo%and even when its still plugged in, it will go down in a matter of 2 hours.
any idease? maybe back to stock?

Are you using the Wifi or LTE version? I'm searching for another ROM instead of the lineageOS 13.0 currently running on my battery dead Tab Pro 8.4 LTE (SM-T325) which I will be replacing the battery myself soon.

So what's the verdict on the amazon replacement battery? Does it hold charge as good or as near the original?
Thanks

It was a solid replacement and well worth the very short amount of time it took to do. It feels like a new device all over again. Lately I have just been trying different roms now since the stock experience hasn't been updated in years.

Same here. Original owner of a Tab8.4 since the month it launched, old battery swole, recently replaced. Easy peasy!

Well that was in November and my replacement battery is still go strong. Glad I did it!

I replaced mine with the same model from Amazon in March, everything is working great. It took about 10 minutes start to finish, tablet is still working like new.
Totally worth the $15.

After running into many problems including the battery on resurrection remix, I switched to lineage. The battery problems got worse there. I decided it was time to do this. Only a couple days in and the difference on lineage is night and day. Should have done this sooner.

This battery is freaking sweet

I'm loving the battery life on this. Maybe it's because the phones i've had was the G1 and G2x but still... And the charging is ridiculously fast. I all other other "tabs" should be jealous

The reason I'm here at the Thrive forum is the because of the battery.
It's replaceable, unlike the G tablet I have now.
I've had it since October of last year, and now the battery won't Charge past 50 percent.
Although I'm perfectly capable of replacing the battery myself (I've had it apart to reset it), Viewsonic won't sell me one.
What's worse is the fact that Modding the Rom voids the warranty.
Even if I go through the hasstle of flashing back to stock, any personal information is available when sent in for repair.
A replaceable battery is a requirement for my next tablet, and the Thrive is the only one I'm aware of.

Im real happy my thrive has a replaceable battery, but the battery life is really poor in comparison to the Samsung G Tab 1.01

What kind of life are you getting? I'm managing to get 15hrs-19hrs.
I get great battery life as well but it took at least a week of cycling before I saw a dramatic improvement.

How are you getting that much time. At best I can get 9 hours of use, I haven't killed the battery, only let it run down to about 10% left
Prevent Kapersky From Running
I suspect you are losing battery life because Kapersky antivirus is running on your tablet. Turned mine off and now I run for about two days with moderate use before I have to charge it.
Try changing Kapersky settings to NOT auto run upon reboot and see how your battery life changes.
Good luck!
Mine came with Norton, deleted that sh*t straight away. I generally just play music, download ALOT of stuff and browse the net, I'm managing 2-3 days. I'm not particularly sure on the exact hours but I use it very often each day. I haven't done anything like cycling either.
On another note this thing chargers so god damn fast. <3

Im guessing im going to be able to change the run option in menu/settings/applications/manage ?
I will check it out later, Thanks for the info

i haven't touched mine either, and I never looked at the code, though I do play some games. I also cycled mine so that it physically turned off, then charge to 100%.

How are you setting it not to run?

Battery required

Hi, ok, I know this is pretty much a dead forum now, but my old HD2 is still working perfect. Its only used occaisionaly but I like to keep it as a backup phone.
The only problems it does have is that the battery lasts only a few hours now. Does anyone have a link to a 'good' source for a new/replacement battery. I think the normal ebay sources are 3/4 year left over batteries as the last one I bought a while back was useless after only a couple of months.
Thanks.
I bought around week ago this one:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/280829871131
It works perfect but I'm not sure what live expectancy should I require for that price.
It will be enough if survive until my HTC 10 come back repaired from warranty service.

I did a search on replacement batteries and it $43 for one, the cheapest I can find. I just wrote the seller
Originally it was advertised as a 32gb tablet 3 years old.
I got it it was a 16gb unit.
He gave me back money because he thought it was a 32gb. Now the battery issue so now I want to return it and evaluate if I should buy another one at 32gb or one that's 10 inch and a little newer unit that's Rootable and Romable. Just got to figure out which ones are

I got a used Nexus 10 yesterday and was using it (without charging). Battery was around 40% and then all of a sudden, i got "Shutting down".
When i plugged the charger in, i got the message "Android is upgrading apps"
Does this mean my battery is finished and I need to order a replacement?
Can anyone recommend a good battery from ebay that will deliver to the UK?
many thanks in advance

Yes same happened to me at 80% means the battery is going dead at 40%. Make sure you get a battery that says OEm or Original Manufacturer and make sure it says samsung on it.
I got one from ebay and they put a label on the word Samsung. their reasoning is so they don't have to pay dutys on import since they are made in china. So if they happens don't get nuts over it. just make sure all the marking of your original battery are like the replacement and you should be good. I'm nuts for OEM Don't like the cheap knock offs. Good luck

I used the tablet (fully charged) for about 1.5 hours last night. Batter got down to 67% but it was ok.
If i can get 2 or so hours then I might just live with it. I only use my tablet on my table (do screenrecording), so i dont need to carry it around.
Please keep us posted if you buy it and how you found it. I will also let you know if I end up getting it.
Install Pure Nexus ROM. I never get any battery shut down problems since installing this ROM and my battery is from 2012. Before it used to shut down at 30% quite regularly.
Plus your tablet will run a lot better.

Nougat appreciation and battery replacement experience

I just wanted to share how happy i've been with the Nougat update and share my experience with battery replacement. This phone is 2 years old and man i still think this phone can hang in 2017. It's snappy enough for me. I was getting jealous of my sisters s7e with N running. Now that I have it on my s6 i feel like the phone is brand new. Im a happy camper. Also I wanted to share my experience with changing my battery. I bought a replacement battery of ebay and swapped it when i found out my old one was busting out the back cover (defective) and was dying minutes after fully charging. Just replacing the battery i got more use. SoT is 15 minutes shy of 5 hours compared to my before time of 3 hours. stanby with music and light usage is about 24 hour with 20 percent still left. All i do to try to keep the battery in good condition is never letting it run below 20 percent and using greenify. I don't know if Nougat helped battery life but my phone has felt brand new to me from just replacing battery and updating to N. Let me know your experience with battery and how you are liking Nougat. I just flashed to Nougat on Tmo so i might be late to party ive heard some have been running it for months now.

I ran stock unrooted nought since the ota came out here. I had no issues until I made that mistake of installing substratum for touchwiz roms. It worked fine for a little while until the themed apps got updated breaking them one by one. Since I was forced to wipe it anyway I rooted and installed golden eagle Rom which I'm really happy with so far. A lot of benefits over stock.
So far my battery hasn't had any issues and hopefully it won't for a while. I don't run it low or use quick charge if I can help it. The phone is almost 2 years old.
S6 is very bad Google pxl is the boss
If I could buy a Google pixel for anywhere near as cheap as the s6 I would. Your comment isn't very helpful. I personally find the s6 to be a really decent phone for it's age. Especially since I never liked any Samsung phones before this because I always found them to be cheaply made, laggy and buggy.

so do you just uncheck the fast charging option in the settings when you want to charge it and aren't in a hurry? is there study into fast charging causing battery to die out faster? sounds interesting
I haven't heard of any study but typically batteries in general like slow charging better. I leave it unchecked unless I want to charge it faster which happens maybe once a month for me. I charge it in the evening and usually have no problem getting through the day. I usually have a portable power pack with me just in case.

Which battery to buy for the Galaxy S5?

Few months ago i brought a samsung battery for my S5 from a local tech shop.
I've got a feeling it wasn't a Genuine one or could be a bad one. But i've been having issues with it.
So i wanted to buy another battery but not sure which one to get. Also on a tight budget right now.
I was looking at the RavPower S5 battery. Is that good? I know it doesn't have nfc, but i hardly use that feature.

I bought two of these for my parents identical phones https://www.amazon.com/Battery-Capable-YONTEX-Replacement-Protector/dp/B074PQL78T/ref=sr_1_12?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1515042133&sr=1-12&keywords=s5+battery
Brand is "Yontex" and came with extremely tight tolerance screen protectors (I think I went through all of them but one until I got one to fit).
They claim to have NFC like the stock batteries. I let them charge, then drained them to 0 a few times like they state to do in the instructions.
1-On my dads phone who just has basic stuff installed, the battery life increased back to how it was when new...It can sit for almost 2 days on one charge.
2-On my moms phone who has an insane amount of crap running 24/7, the battery life did not really increase that much until I started running a wake-lock app to figure out what was still draining the battery.
(snapchat, gasbuddy, weather channel & facebook were the major offenders).
I have not actually tested the NFC function since they never use it. On another note, I don't think Samsung makes S5 batteries anymore, so any stock you find is old stock from when they were being produced years ago. Lithium batteries die whether being used or sitting on a shelf, so a fresh production date helps.
