Hi! I'm interested in the Camera2 API support level of the Mi A1 as I like to use manual controls in pro video recording apps like FilmicPro. Can anyone download this free app "Camera2 probe" and post a screenshot of the results after running it? I'm mostly interested in the top part where it says "Hardware Level Support Category" - hoping for "Full" or "Level 3" support.
Cheers!

You can get Level 3 Support if you follow the non rooting gcam installation tutorial that's out there in this forum.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-a1/how-to/tool-google-camera-root-magisk-enable-t3747585
here you can enable camera2api without loosing ota update , i did this months ago and havent had any problem at all , good luck :good:

Thanks everyone for the feedback! It's rather disappointing that Xiaomi doesn't activate full Camera2 functionality from the get-go.

I am interested in pro video recording apps like FilmicPro with full manual controls for which the Camera2 API support level of a device is essential. I currently have the G4 Plus as a work phone and was disappointed that it only has "Legacy" as a Camera2 hardware support level, not allowing 3rd party camera apps full manual controls. So I was wondering how things are looking with the G5 Plus. Can anyone with a G5 Plus install the free app "Camera2 probe" from the PlayStore and post the results here? Much appreciated!
Hate to disappoint, same results, no raw or only partial manual control. Take it that was what you wanted to know.

Thanks, I'm after the Camera2 hardware support level category. There are four different types: Legacy, Limited, Full and Level 3. Only Full and Level 3 support works for instance with Filmic Pro. So I take it the results of the probing app came out as Legacy or Limited?
Yes legacy, should have put that in previous post

Arnova8G2's Google Camera Port
Hi everyone, this thread is being created to share and have some feedback to help @Arnova8G2 to port the Google Camera for our soc.
I will try to maintain the thread with the latest apk from the dev, in the meantime to help more you can:
Describe your experience (mostly what doesn't work as expected)
Provide logcats: the dev does not have your phone, so logs are needed if you want him to fix stuff (How to take logcats?)
Mention @Arnova8G2 when you post your feedback
GoogleCamera-Pixel2Mod-Arnova8G2-V6-Beta17.1.apk
Tried a couple of shots with the apk and pictures tend to have a blueish tone, as for pictures attached @Arnova8G2
The "normal" one is taken with stock camera with the 12mpx sensor, as the other one is not recognised by your GCam's port

i have the same issue @Arnova8G2
For tests before the final version

To make it easier for me to correct Gcam
Download the Camera2 Test app and share the device_info file.

Here you go. Honor 9 STF-L09.
I just needed to change the extension form .html to .txt to be able to attach it.
Working well on my Honor 9 with Oreo running. Thank you
@Arnova8G2 to standardise the responses and bug reporting from other users, which settings you suggest us Honor 9 users to use?
The same defaults as Snapdragon users?
Or some others in particular, given the different soc (if it can impact on image elaboration by the app)?
Is it supports portrait mode?
Hi @Arnova8G2, sorry to bother you but since you haven't posted a new apk for us Kirin users, I'm going to ask: can we use your latest updates from HERE?
Should we try first with the suggested settings and then with others or can you give us some hints?
Thanks in advance and don't worry to ask to try something, we are here to try to have a GCam for Kirins too (at least I to see if can be more improvements with the camera )

Count me in. If needed, I can also provide any help possible, because I would like to use GCam on Honor 9, as that HDR function is great
None of this app are working. Honor 9 with oreo.
I got always this error to free up space.
Please Port it for Honor View10- Honor's Latest Flagship. There are many users who want this port and many guys are into development stuff as they brought it due to the fact that it does support treble.
Btw Google released its algorithm as open source, will this benefit Kirin users?

Honor 9, EMUI 8 (Oreo) and apps are working normally. Only problem is blue tint, which is mentioned in first posts of this thread.

What's the point of this post in the Honor 9 section? Please edit/delete it and open a dedicated thread in the V10 section, as I did for Honor 9,thanks.

To fix this error: switch back to system memory as primary, not the SD.
Also the anrova versione of this app do not add any benefits to the camera.
Only the msg MGC_5.1.018_FINAL_3.3 have some improvements on lowlight, but no portrait mode and if you edit some confing the app will not work on front camera
How to report bug to Asus team using bug report app
I can't find the app in app drawer but in app installed I can see bug report application
I am thinking that we all should report camera2api disabled.... enable it via FOTA
I simply don't want to do that unlock and relock stuff just becoz if any OTA messes with that then I have to do it all over
Previously I was a Redmi note 3 user and I use to install hell lot of ROMs just to find good performance and stability...but on this PRO M1 I am totally satisfied with what it gives.... I am not a camera but but I would love to have a more simple camera ui which gcams provide...what you guys say will this work out??
Or will Asus ever give a FOTA with camera2api enabled
I am on stock ROM v311
If you are not a camera guy then the UI should not bother you much cause gcams does not make use of the dual camera function of the phone. It uses software to achieve the bokeh effects. As for the picture quality, both cams are almost the same now. Asus has improved their camera taking quality since the last 2 update.

But if we took a picture of any red thing (suppose a flower), it will become pink in the picture. Same goes with orange and yellow. The camera is simply oversaturated, I can say...

This is the same thought that bothers me. I have been requesting Asus to enable camera2api before the last two updates, through the Online Chat facility in the Service Centre app. Still now, I am requesting them and I have a hope that they'll enable it in the future. In my opinion, if a wider audience requests the same to them through that app, they'll surely enable it...
My Mi A2 just arrived toady and I was surprised, when I saw in video settings, that there is a native 1080p60 recording option! I wasn't expecting that, great news. I don't know if this is since first software release or maybe it was added in the update. Right know my system version is 9.6.10.0

Yes it is ! EIS works on 60fps also.
Wow thanks for posting this. I have the phone for three days now but i just realized that
Yeah... nice update
Videos in 60fps are really stable, EIS does a great job. Overall quality is not so good as Galaxy S8 for example, I compared it, but it's not a surprise. It's not a flagship.
It has option to record video in 120fps also but with camera2 api enabled
If you turn on the time lapse or slow motion option, the setting will return to 1080p 30fps in normal mode
How to enable call record option on MI A2
On the latest July patch of PIE 60fps and EIS has no effect
Hey, sorry if I am just confused here, but could anybody tell me what Rom's have the Level_3 available or ready to enable on the s7? I have heard it limits picture quality in stock camera app, but I am interested in having the full capabilities when shooting video using filmic pro. Thank you
