Hey guys,
I just tried to open the German ZTE website (ztemobile.de ) and I was immediately redirected to the Chinese one (zte.com.cn). Is anyone else having the same problem?
I was browsing their forums about 1 hour ago. I tried the same links recently and they appear to also redirect to the CN website.
http://www.ztemobile.de/forums/forum/zte-axon-serie-forum/zte-axon-7-forum/
I am trying to practice restraint with all things ZTE nowadays. (HOWEVER) While the maintenance a few days ago appeared harmless enough, this general redirect is worrying.

Oh damn. Immediately had a look and yes, it redirects to the chinese site. Even the forum link i had saved does the same. Really weird. Since april is ending and all the the issues we had with the german site and the firmware downloads, zte really needs to make a statement to its users. They really should come clean and give us a clear answer whats happening. Although we all are 90% sure we know whats going on, they still should give an answer to customers. At least somewhere around the beginning of the next month.

I would assume this silence has to do with their shares value. I believe that at the moment lawyers are running most things in ZTE until the dust settles down. They appear to be in damage control mode.

Could be. But it wont help if the worried customers get louder and louder. Sooner or later they have to respond to minimize the damage to their business.
I'm still clueless as who to believe in this case. Usa claims zte has violated the sanctions etc, zte claims otherwise. Currently im giving zte the benefit of the doubt since usa is really going after china like crazy recently.

I'll try not to jump to conclusions but this is somewhat worrying. Also, at first I blamed ZTE but seeing what's happening to Huawei aswell now, I'm not sure if this isn't just the US "playing games".
I am not sure if this has any significance at all, but I noticed that axon 7 disappeared completely from the support pages at https://www.ztedevices.com/en/support/
I tried for a few countries and it's not there any longer.
I think this is a good sign, the Oreo release might be imminent; however, after 1 month and a half, ZTE is still not listed as a certified partner on the Android page https://www.android.com/certified/partners/

You aren't the only one who's waiting for this update.
I'm also using Omnia 7 from Orange UK and no upgrade in Zune for that moment.
I think i'll try to flash it with DFT Rainbow ROM (based on 8107)

Had a few problems with Rainbow *not just the relocking* but I've been using this for 3 days now and its a lot less hassle with an Omnia 7
Same here. Orange UK - Still on 7740.
Orange have been poor with updates. Shame really... I couldn't look at other networks though as Orange have by far the best deals available and do stock a decent range of WP7 handsets.
I've been having major issues with the 3G not working randomly after 8107, so you are quite lucky.
I know this is an oldish thread but has anyone on orange/tmob/everything everywhere or whatever they are calling themselves today have the 8107 update?
The disappearing keyboard is such a pain and I need a fix.
It's Mozart I'm wondering about really because reading up it seems other phones may already have had this update.
I called Orange business support and theire tech guys "don't know about any 8107 update". I thought this was just the call centre woman fobbing me off so sent an email to account managers and they said the same thing even though I sent them offical link from MS about the update.
Wasn't being pushed to my Omnia 7 on T-Mobile UK as of last week.
Is your phone Interop unlocked? If so you could just tweak a registry entry so you receive the update.
If not, you can manually update using the cab sender method. Doesn't require a developer/unlocked phone. I did it myself and its pretty straightforward.
I followed this guide. Easy to do and it shouldn't stop you getting future OS updates (i.e. Tango) and manufacturer firmware updates through Zune. That is, if Orange ever get round to letting them be pushed out.
Thanks sab, I followed the guide and have updated my phone.
I've not seen any problems so going to update my colleagues phone too!
I'm just annoyed with Orange for not pushing updates from MS. I think MS should take control of updates like they do with their operating systems and take the carrier out of it. I appreciate there will be regional issues and carrier specific configurations but it's just silly having updates and not being able to apply them.

Can you confirm this works OK for Orange UK? I don't want to screw up a phone when I still have a few months of the contract left. Also, did you only need 5 language pack on the Mozart? Mine only lists 5 under Display Lancuages, but loads under Region Format.

I've been using it fine since I posted that updated. As has my colleague. So great to fix that annoying 'hidden keyboard' problem.
If I remember correctly, I used the 5 languages pack only. The same as what was listed in the languages section of the phone.
There are no guarantees and you may screw up your phone. That's the risk you'll have to take.

Forgive my asking another stupid question, but my phone only lists "English". Am I correct in assuming this is English-UK?
I'm also wondering if I should to this if it might break the auto-update and the Tango update might be available in the future. Any thoughts?
Finally, my phone's on 7740, not 7720. Anyone know if that would make a difference?
Yes "English" is English UK. Mine is the same.
I can't comment on the Tango update but I doubt it will affect it. This cab update your doing is an official release as far as I know but it's just that you are forcing the update instead of waiting for Orange to do it.
I was on 7740. This should be the latest build(last time I checked) from Orange on my phone anyways - HTC Mozart.
Thread closed, such threads should be started in the General section only.
Hi all,
Picked up a 6P a couple of days ago and am stuck on the 1st Jan 2016 security patch and build MMB29P (phone isn't finding any new OTAs). I know this isn't very Nexus but I don't fancy flashing if I don't have to.
Is this a known thing and I just need to be a little more patient?
Cheers
Dan
Apologies, just realised this needs to go into the Q&A section. Could someone advise as to how to move?
Same problem here, I did sideload February OTA, and received March OTA by air.

Surely that can't be the case? How would they know where it was bought from? I bought a N9 from Argos and have never had problems with OTAs.
I called Google and asked why I'm not getting update, told the guy that I bought my phone through Amazon, he said that only phones purchased through Google store will be updated right away and I'll have to wait one to two months.
I bought mine from Amazon and I haven't received any updates. I'm still on the the January security patch also. If this is true it's pretty messed up of Google to do that. Shouldn't matter where you purchase the phone at.

Hey guys!
I was stuck on January as well as some of you and got tired of not receiving any update at all because I read that there are major improvements in MHC19I version.
However I managed to find site where are listed all OTAs and picked the one that was unable to find in my case MMB29P to MMB29Q. Then sideloaded it through default recovery (no hassle at all, took same time as casual OTA) and voilà new update available. Now I'm finally on MHC19I. To all who are worried about warranty and stuff, sideloading official update does NOT void your warranty. I may provide detailed instructions for updating, but it's described sufficiently all around the internet.
Explanation why I sideloaded: There's actually a bug causing your device to not see update server. I don't know if this can be fixed by any engineer in google, but it should be. However it can be fixed by sideloading any following update. :good:
Have fun! :victory:

Hey everyone,
I'm actually genuinely curious about this, I'm looking to potentially start developing for this phone but in order to do this I need to know the state of affairs and what exactly we have at the moment and don't. I see we can unlock bootloader and root....but the techniques used to do so seem very......primitive.... to say the least, and quite compressed for a newbie.
What exactly is the issue for lack of ROM development, what are we missing? Is it possible to make a tool to help with bootloader unlock and root, and if it is why hasn't it happened yet? I see we have TWRP but what else do we need?
Like I said I'm genuinely curious and not trying to start a flame war, this is for productive conversation and discussion. I come from a Nexus 6 so the lack of development is something I'm aware of before I bought this phone, but I would really like it to thrive as it's a great phone. As a disclaimer I haven't rooted or unlocked my phone yet, I just got it, and as much as I am very experienced in this field, I'm not yet ready to go through the process if it's not worth it.
Thank you.

The full image is not a problem. All binary files can be extracted from partition backups.
If you check https://github.com/hax-on you will see progress. As an developer you will especially see what's missing. The main issue is audio vendor blobs getting to work without help of ZTE devs.
It requires reverse engineering. (IDA Pro, radar2).
Not everyone knows how to RE. That is why the community is pushing ZTE for help or release the sources for the required blobs.
Additionally, I am running into a back order issue so maybe more development will occur when next batch hits the shelves in a few weeks? But op brings up a good question.

Just wondering if any people who received the TUF email from Huawei has gotten their OTA yet. I understand that it's a staggered roll out but just want a general feel of how fast it's moving. Also I haven't seen anyone mention actually receiving their US OTA.

I'm curious. If you were able to to a factory reset, make a complete backup using the TWRP run method (not the install method), save the resulting files in a zip on a Google Drive, and share the link - would I (and people like me with the L24 and TWRP installed) be able to use that to "restore" from TWRP?
East coast here, nothing yet. If you go to the Honor's 7x FB page they said that even if you didn't get an email from the FUT trial and filled the form, you should be able to get the OTA. Checking the settings>system update.
I did this and nothing yet.
Curious.
I wonder why we wouldn't get the OTA.
I have bootloader unlocked, TWRP installed, and, therefore, am on the B101 build, not B130. Do you think that might have something to do with it?

Well don't worry, I applied and got the email saying I would have it by friday.........accept nothing has come thru, tried all the methods they said. Nothing. So it's definitely not been pushed to US or other regions yet or we would have seen it on here by now. Huawei hasn't done what they said so don't worry, it has not been pushed yet. I actually have the mate 10 lite for 275 and it seems very similar but they are vastly different in hardware. 4 gb/ 64 ROM, I know the se mate does too, but I had all three lined up and the screen on the mate 10 lite is at least 200 nits higher when I measured it vs any of the others, same with the mate p smart which btw comes with OREO already baked in when you buy and it's only 235 and has the good screen of the mate 10 lite, and OREO already in it.

S/W downloads .123 and flashes it. Device seems to work as before, but some minor bugs pop-out from time to time: like Settings app crash, camera crash (on mode change), no more grey lines (buit-in tests show pass)
All of my devices were locked BL, and no OEM unlock allowed. Not flashed any custom firmware./twrp.
That helped me, but not everyone, some ppl with same state couldn't return to normal, in worst cases they played to much with bugged screen and it went hardware broken (overheat)...
The cure is not for everyone, like as that decease, there are cases of successful updating for 9.0 pie same device. Very very strange...
Had phone call from Sony after all flame, they said using Sony Companion is the only solution currently officially available, even service centers do the same procedure. Regarding stable 9.0 Pie they will report additionally.
Don't you guys have older firmwares from the flash tool? I can already imagine sony just leaving xa2 unupdated forever as they won't even try

XperiFirm has them, 8.0 all the way, please check if you need them.
Those failure 9.0 are in the links above, on your own risk, i'm not the owner.
XA2 will be updated of course, 9.0 is on road-map along with 10. It's just delayed due failures in RU/BY/KAZ, Sony girl said: "... and i think it will happen (9.0) in March" when we talk last week, i tend to believe her . And ofc i will share all the guides if i receive (looks like for failed devices we will utilize Sony companion with reset, that's just thoughts)

never heard they launched it for other regions, only 3rd grade countries were involved as pre-launch stage, kinda rough start to be honest. And as i was told global launch is shifted from 4th of March until resolved all potential risks, another test loop involved.
Did you saw something regarding CE/UK somewhere?
My phone's support app was claiming there was an update but it doesn't anymore, idk maybe it wasn't for android P

A.13.123 yes
Guys, there was popped notification of 9.0 ota once again, couple days ago. Keeping in mind that previous one killed my screen driver, I decided to wait, but same day ota disappeared (cis regions)...
4pda guys now have completely different experience:
- blank screen on boot (just delay or constant)
- bad camera app experience, especially over 4k mode
- shorter battery life
Be careful.

The update is successful. Installed this morning by Xperia companion on my XA2 single SIM, everything is fine and the battery lasts longer. The only thing is that the task manager I did not find the windows with horizontal scrolling but with vertical scrolling as in android 8. For the rest it's fine.
100% battery April 8 at about 2.15pm
1:01 am on April 9th 35% Battery
The only thing is that I wanted to find the task manager with the windows horizontally, otherwise satisfied.
It's fine

If you have Magisk you can use this and select System UI. The old task manager will be back.
Well... it's a brick [.352]
I'm in Brazil. I just got the notification to reboot. I did. It now loops on a blank screen on boot.
I read about the 342 version bricking phones and was aware there was a problem. But then they released 352 and people started to report the update was fine. So I didn't really worry, although I was a little concerned in the back of my mind. But then I thought "What's the chance they SCREW THIS UP TWICE IN A ROW, and I'm one of the victims?". Well, there is my answer.
I think I'll call support now. This is a freaking mess...

Wait, no, it came back, after some 30 min or more.... What the hell? I've had several Android phones since 2010, this never happened before. I seemed bricked, looped over and over, I tried the hard reset shortcut a few times.... Then I took out the SIM to put it on my tablet, so I could call support, and the damn phone came back from the dead. Now I put the SIM back in and it works... I have no reasonable explanation for this.
