I would like to build a new Kernel for the EVO...
I know some of the kernels we have for Gingerbread
have been apparently EOL'ed prematurely.
This is for a development of a new kernel but if it
is in the wrong section then please move this to the
right place.
I would like to build a new kernel with ALL the governors
built in them.

Could anybody help with this??
for sense, PM lithid or netarchy
for AOSP, PM Carnairb
good luck, and please include SBC
you will need to first decide if you are making it for Sense or AOSP - I would then recommend checking out threads with kernels made by dev's here (such as this thread by Lithid) as it has source links to help you out. I myself have no idea how to compile one, just wanted to help ya out some
I'd love a kernel based on the latest OTA, but with the ability to over and underclock, and with all the governors. I like the latest OTA kernel, but I miss the battery savings I can get with SetCpu.

Try the Freedom kernels. I'm using the agressive kernel and get about the same level of battery life I did when running SBC Savage Zen on AOSP and they are built off the stock HTC kernels.

I think destroyer is not updating anymore but GW is constantly updating is ROM working on putting leedroid tweaks on it. But if tethering is what you're looking for then there's an app for that. But shooter is the IMHO the best sense 3.0 there is.

SOS (swagged out stock) is nice it has tether built in I'm pretty sure. With an aggressive freedom kernel you get great battery life.
Well it depends really

Yeah yeah, some of us were reminded not to flame while the mods has time to move the post to correct section.
Since this hasn't been moved yet OP, wrong forum and use google. Download the code, build and compile. Not rocket surgery.
I don't think we will see a new kernel till the source code is released for the new ota kernel. Just my opinion. Would love to see one before that though.

Thank You! about reminding them not to complain! I had
asked them to move it as needed in which this is a Development
area of the phone.....
I am not very good at building and compiling unfortunately
so was why I was asking for a combined effort on building a new
kernel....Nobody was making anything new (FroYo had TONS
of kernels) I had PM'ed Lithid and I have gotten nothing back...
All I wanted from him was on how to add the governors...
I use nothing but his kernel and I get nothing in response..hmm
anyways I think I will be asking a different user/modder/complier
for help from now on... (and maybe switching kernels)
Oh well....it was a lost cause I guess :/
This post has gotten well over 1k views and a lot of buzz...
there are people who want a new kernel just from the looks of it!

The very first thing you need to compile a kernel is setup a Linux box if you're unfamiliar with Linux you might as well try to learn to read hieroglyphs cuz that's what trying to compile a kernel in Linux with no knowledge of the OS is gonna seem like, coding is done in string from a konsole no GUI easy to make a typo and screw the whole.code up of suggest getting familiar with some basic source before diving into kernels maybe open up your favorite rom and manually input pvyparts battery bar code then go from there that's a simple few lines of code that need to.be decompiled edited and recompiled

I use full blown linux and I know how to use the command very well...Just need to know where
to get all the stuff at to where I CAN cook up a new kernel lol
Source code at htcdev, or use am existing kernel as base.
Check out existing github accounts and look under commits, sometimes individual modifications are on a single commit and you can see how they did it.
Follow lithid's walk through to get a sense on how to compile a kernel before you start tweaking it. This will also help you get the packages needed to do kernel work. Sorry I don't have the link on my phone.
You can also google how to compile sense kernels for more info..
Remember when you add everything into it, modules, governors, etc..it makes the kernel bulkier, and in some cases slower.
Good luck to you on your quest. Remember to that research is key

I don't mean to s.h.i.t. on your parade brother but what does compiling something that someone else made have anything to do with original android development? I mean, I admit you're doing a great service for people who are unable to compile CM10 themselves but all you have to do is wait a day or two for TeamHacksung to make a few changes then repo sync and then compile. This should be in general discussion at the very least.

You should add "unofficial" to the thread title. It's currently a bit misleading if you ask me.
Plus, you should ask a mod to move this to the "Android development" section.
This morning I tried Cyanogenmod10 (v4.1.1) in my sgs2 and given me some poor results:
Total 4150 vs. 5880 AnTuTu of I9100XXLQB
and 2420 vs. 3750 Quafrant of I9100XXLQB.
So far I have not seen any problems other than that I see very slow the JB and drains much battery.
I wait for a more successful version.
Out of curiosity, do you think you could do builds with the Linaro toolchain? Would be different from the other builds.

I won't really test these, first because he is really like a noob (no offence in any kind) as I remembered so much spamming question in Jelly Bean threads before CM10 released, second because I have own box to compile CM10 with latest changes (or prefer to use more experienced devs builds like PieR's or D4rkn3SyS's), third this isn't any helpful for CM10 developers and not any more for users, you won't probably know how to fix any problem.
I'm not saying I'm better either, but some porting teached me something and I don't want to publish my work, just to don't read under it what's not working/is bugged 100x and people flaming & asking the same with new nightly & flaming again. Yeah, but for people who can't compile ourself, this is good just in cas they want up to date CM features.
good luck mate

Once you have things really developed, go ahead and open a proper thread, but for now this is closed.
As there are too many ROMs to be chosen, I've shortlisted a very few ROMs, so that new users could benefit from it.
Please vote to your liking. And if any popular ROM is missing, feel free to comment.
My vote goes for Omega. Might change in future.
Note: You can choose multiple ROMs.

i only use temasek's build now, since compiler is extremly helpful and fast with updating newer versions.
btw, he does release rom + kernel which is kinda amazing.

I'm not asking which one is the Best ROM or Kernel. I just started a poll to see which comes the 1st place.
Still if you are unhappy with this, mods, please delete this. I don't want to hurt anyone.
I voted 3 roms., AOSPA, Revolt and Rootbox. as all three of them has the pie feature which is pretty useful. But for me aospa is the best as it has the most functions between the three (p.s i hope android key lime pie is will use the pie function)
Moved from AOSPA as I didn't find it useful for me. But it differs from person to person. Most of the people liked it as I heard.

XDA is a development site not a support site. As such members are expected to do the research, read through the development threads and decide what is BEST for them. The only results that would be posted here are what each member has found to be BEST (favorite) for them by experimentation based on their phone/usage/setup/apps/signal strength. Please take the time to read through those development threads to learn all about the software you are about to drastically alter your very expensive device with.

Sure I can be the tester. I will try a get a device to give away to a DEV if they are willing to work on a custom ROM (CyanogenMod).

This thread is rather counter productive. You have a misleading title and you've posted to the wrong forum. As the sticky note at the top of this forum proclaims "ALL Questions should go in the Q&A Section".
You'd get more views as a post commenting in the main S5 prime information thread. Or arguably find a wider audience in the Q&A section for that matter. If you really want to spur development, then buy a phone and offer it to a developer who is willing to work on a ROM or custom kernel. This is a niche, Korean market only device that most developers don't own. And how do you expect them to do any effective development if they don't have ready access to the device that they would be developing for?
You can see this with the Exynos devices. They are very much orphans, vastly outnumbered by the number of Qualcomm Galaxy phones. And as a result, few developers own the Exynos versions and little development transpires. If you can't or don't wish to sponsor a device for a developer that's perfectly understandable. But in that case one shouldn't be grumbling about the lack of development. When and if a developer buys a S5 prime and is inclined to develop for it, it will happen. When and if that happens.
