Hello, I'm writing this because I noticed that my battery life's a lot worse than on march patch. I'm currently on april patch. I also noticed that android system is draining most of my battery (22%, while screen uses only 18%). My phone's not rooted but i don't think that matters. Also i lost about 1-1.5 hours of sot since the last update. Anyone experiencing this?
Actually I am doing fine with april, try disabling fingerprint gestures and turn off sync.

I've noticed over the past two months that I lose battery a lot quicker.
I assumed that it was because I started using WhatsApp that is Set to wake up the screen when messages arrive, and then because I was on holidays and using the camera regularly to take photos.
However I tried last night, disabling WhatsApp, and left it at 71% battery at 12 midnight. When I woke up today it had gone down to 59%.
When I first got the nexus I tried doze and it did work well overnight, so I know the phone wasn't buggy when I bought it in January.
The only other thing that has changed is I started using tasker around the same time two months ago, however in the battery tests it doesn't appear so I don't know if it's the cause of the rapid battery drain.
I have installed all OTA updates. Nexus is stock, not unlocked or rooted.
Any help would be great!
Hi,
My Samsung Galaxy S8+ used to hit 5 hours of screen on time minimum. But lately it has been tanking at about 1 percent every 3 minutes or so. When checking battery stats, it says that it is a high android system battery usage. When checking apps for potential battery drain, Bixby Global Actions and Bixby Services was 84 percent of the Android System battery drain. Please assist? Has this happened to anyone else? Should I factory reset?
Same thing happened to me right after the Oreo update. Last night I disabled all Bixby related apps, will see how it affects battery life until tonight. will update.

Perfect. Thank you so much. Look forward to your update. I did perform a factory reset so will also update after a few days of use
Any update on this? I was getting terrible battery life on my S9 due to high Android System drain. I did a factory reset and everything was great until I set up Bixby. Then Android System started killing battery life. I disabled everything related to Bixby but it still continued. Just did another factory reset and all is good again, but I'm scared to accidentally hit that button.
Hi,
Unfortunately still no news. I've tried clearing my cache multiple times. But still cannot find the culprit. I have managed to make my standby battery drain decent by updating to the latest March security update. But there is still a high Android system battery drain when using the phone. About 1% battery every 3 minutes.
I'm in the same boat. I did some research and found users complaining about bixby global action and bixby service draining thier batter after the oero update. I looked at my own results and found them draining 178% each! I just disabled the both of them but I'm still losing 1% about every 4 or 5 minutes. Going recharge my phone and see what results I get.
Got sick of this oreo update, the battery isnt as good as nougat even with crd7 and also if you set display on wqhd and u use app pair , after that when u hit the multitaskig button there is an animation stuter, i cannot cope with this.
And I had problems with batery but now it is better.
Clean cashe in recovery menu
Set Wi Fi to energy saving
Disable Google services in backround
With this now my batery is 15 - 20% better.
With or without Bixby - same.
My soft is CRD7
Hi, so I have a S8 G950U running on Nougat 7.1 (BLQ1). There is a lot of new updates avaible since, but the last time I did the Oreo update, the battery was just awful!
I'm currently at 6.5/7 hours SOT. But when I was on Oreo, I barely had 5 hours SOT. So, does the life battery is better now, because of the newer updates ?
I really need to know because I don't want to downgrade again to Nougat, it is so long and I got no time for that. Thank.
I'm getting 3 to 3 1/2 hs SOT on Oreo. With GPS on bnattery saving, AOD off, and turning wifi/4G on and off manually depending where I'am. I do not play and only watch some YouTube and Facebook (using Friendly app, removed both FB and FB Messenger).
So no, at least not a good battery life for me.
Also, on Standby, I get a 1% drop per hour, maybe more sometimes, and there's no funny apps on the backgroud...
Has anyone else noticed battery drain after the most recent security update?
My 6p also seems to have issues locking on to the carrier network...
seriously considering a downgrade....
Just changed my battery about 2 weeks ago and was getting phenomenal battery life, and have pretty much immediately noticed a difference...
yes. I have just replaced the battery in my 6P this Monday. Battery wasn't lasting half of a day with average use.
The drain seems diminished since the new battery, but not by a lot. It also still heats up more than it ever did.
(this is my second 6P... the first one was traded in under it's original two-year warranty when this behavior turned from annoying to the phone being completely useless. It would have an apparent "rapid drain" and shut down spontaneously, and on reboot, the battery would show just about where it was before. It could be as high as 40% and exhibit this behavior.
I love this phone, but it's rapid deterioration is making it just another heap of very expensive toys with a planned obsolescence. Disappointed in Huawei and Google )

My sister's 5X (same gen as 6P of course) now has the problem.
Under Settings > battery & developer options > active services it's not really clear what's happening.
It could be Device Health Services (logs battery usage), or com.qualcomm.qcrilmsgtunnel, but you'd think such a thing ought to be active all the time (RIL is for baseband, the cellular network modem)
It might also be that the banking app that uses NFC gives a problem. But killing that app did not drastically reduce the temperature of the phone.
Same thing, was thinking my battery was beginning to fail. If someone finds a fix, please post it here.
I have crazy battery drain on WiFi.
I tried to boot on Safe Mode and still the battery drain was present so it's safe to assume it's not some app that's causing it.
I also thought this is my battery going bad but when I switched to 4G the battery drain stopped and my battery life became as it used to be.
AccuBattery reports 92% battery health which is darn good for a 2 year old phone.
The battery drain happens only on WiFi.
Tried LineageOS 2 weeks ago and still same battery drain on wifi.
This drive me nuts.
I tried going back to september security patch after I faced this issue as there was no problem at all regarding battery life before updating, but it did not improve the now worst battery life. Standby is very good, not even single percent drop overnight.
Same here on my Nexus 6P, this was caused by November 5th 2018 update. I was getting 3 days of battery life with my usage, and after this update I get ~12 hours with almost NO screen time. Google needs to fix this.

I have noticed exactly the same after the November update. For example, yesterday morning I charged the battery to 100%, this morning it was down to 52% with hardly any usage. The battery used to last for 4-5 days with pre-November OS versions.
I have yet to try with WiFi turned off. I'll re-charge the phone soonish and switch wireless off to see if it helps.
I found a way to recover ~60% of usage time:
Settings > Location > Scanning > Wifi & Bluetooth Scanning OFF
Settings > Network & Internet > Mobile Network > Automatically Select Network OFF + Select your primary network manually
Settings > Google > Nearby > Turn off
With that I have 80% of my pre-november update battery capacity. If anyone can help me complete this answer, this would be highly appreciated

I did all these, force-stopped a few apps which were showing in the battery stats and re-charged back to 100%. This seems to have helped. It's now been 22 hours and the battery is showing 80%.
Yep. I had this issue with oreo. Only way i solved it was going back to nougat. I did a fresh installatiom of it several times and everything was laggy and i immediately noticed the battery drainage too. I went back to nougat and everything worked smoothly, battery was lasting a lot longer too.
Any comments on December build battery life?
i updated my mia1 to January Security patch yesterday night.
The update was perfect until i found out the battery usage aren't displaying.
I tried rebooting my device and still it shows nothing.
Is there any ways to deal with this?
I care a lot of my phone's battery usage.
Press those three dots upper right?
