Hi,
Please ignore, all seems ok now since a restart or two....My Bad
******************
Since the April update I installed last night, I no longer appear to receive notifications of new e-mails, calls, messages etc in the status bar at top of screen.
Bluetooth, WiFi, network, battery symbols all appear to be there.
I checked notifications in All Apps and is turned on.
Anything else I could check?
regards, Kevin

Hello,
After trying several ROMs, I'm now a happy OmniROM user. One of the features I really appreciate are the nigthly builds. The system automatically checks for them and it displays a notification icon each time a new build is available. But, hey, I'm not going to tell you what you already know
I noticed that for some reason the update notification function stops working and I can now associate this to the presence of the Viber application on my device. And now I decided to share my findings and to eventually understand the background of this problem.
Here is the typical scenario I found myself in several times this last year:
- some friend of mine asks me to contact him on Viber; this application comes-in handy when talking with people abroad
- I install Viber, only to notice the next day that I no longer have the new updates notification
- I eventually uninstall Viber, as it's really discharging my battery trying to reconnect my phone (the GSM signal quality is very poor at my work, even if it's in the center of a major french town)
- after manually downloading & installing the current nightly build, the update notification icon comes back next day.
In addition, I had the idea to manually check for system updates. When the Viber application is present on the system, this function won't find any new updates!
Am I the only one facing this problem?
Cheers,
Hello,
Since two days ago i keep receiving a random "unknown" notification on my gear s2. When i choose to show it on the phone, it gives me an error "failed". The icon of the notification is like a message (sms) and the sender is "unknown". The notification appears at random times and has no connection (that i noticed) with actual notifications. I have tried the factory recet on my gear but with no success in removing it. I tried the support of Samsung, but they told me to have it physically examined. The examination will show nothing is wrong (as here where i live, they do not do a good job). The gear and app are both updated to the latest version and nothing has changed before i started to receive the notification.
Update: the notification can be reproduced after locking the phone (Samsung Galaxy Note 3) or while having any event, with screen on (i.e. phone call initiation, sending messages or other)
Hello! Please, can you give me some advice! When I come home my phone can't be connected to my home Wi-Fi network, but earlier it was already connected to it. The problem is solved with the help of reset of my phone or by means of switching on/switching off Wi-Fi. What should I do? Thanks.
Ever since most recent update my wi-fi connection has gone to pot. Sitting at home at my desk, literally in front of my router, the phone will drop wi-fi. Same thing happens at work with the not-as-close wi-fi service in the hall outside my door, so it's not my home router.
Result is that battery is depleting more quickly since, if I understand things correctly, the phone searches for wi-fi connection more often throughout the day.
That's saying nothing of Notifications going off the grid. The worst is the elimination of text notification -- no matter what I, or a Verizon rep at a store, try the text notification will not sound, resulting in countless missed text messages -- but most of the other notification settings are blunted as well. No notifications for hours, then all of a sudden I'll get a burst of Bleacher Report, email, Facebook notifications (some, HOURS old; and obviously not a notification that I've received a text).
I have to hope there'll be an update to the update sooner than later.
When my P10 Plus is not being used (for maybe 15 minutes or so), I noticed that Whatsapp web is unable to receive any messages. Once I turn the screen on, messages suddenly appear on screen. I have already set WiFi to be enabled at all times and also prevented Whatsapp from being closed while the phone is sleeping.
How do I continue to be connected to WiFi and receive Whatsapp messages even when the phone's screen is off?
Never had this problem on my phone..
I have wifi always connected and Whatsapp not being closed when screen off.
Try to check your notifications management, you must have turned it off there in your quest to "save battery life"
These are my current settings. WiFi is definitely on and notifications are all enabled and prioritized.
If you have the Chinese model that's normal there is always notification delay.
All you can do is rebrand ur phone to European firmware.
Hi there.
My S8 today get update to Oreo and after I install that update I notice that there is something wrong with notification from some apps, Twitter to be specific. First, when I get notifications about new reply or like there was no sound, so I went to settings and there in app settings I manage to change that, but now every time when I send new tweet I get notifications about that (never happened before on oldest android versions), and when someone reply to me, the sound of notification are doubled. It's very annoying.
When I search on Google about that issue there is many topics about that, but any solution.
PS
Yes, i did factory reset after update - - that issue was before and is still after FR.
Same problem here. I have turned off all battery optimization but nothing helps. Started the moment Oreo was installed. I have received one Oreo update but it made no difference
The same thing happens to me. It randomly skips push notifications from the people I follow. Very unpleasant with my S8 in that aspect. The system sleeps to the SI or SI application even though you include it in the app without supervision. I've tried everything and nothing works...
