Redmi Pro 5 Password Lockout - Xiaomi Redmi Pro Questions & Answers

I bought a Redmi Pro 5 from Banggood and have had no problems until two weeks ago. While I was using it, it rebooted and took me to the password unlock screen where my password no longer worked.
I have made no modifications to the phone other than enabling the developer options and turning on the USB debugging option. When I attempt to reboot into recovery mode, I'm prompted with an image outline of the phone indicating that I need to connect to it via the usb port.
When I connect to the phone via usb, I can see the device using
adb.
What can I do to bypass or remove or bypass the password lock?
Michael

To remove the encryption, boot into fastboot mode and use the following command: "fastboot format userdata"
It will delete everything. Thats how i decrypted mine.
Edit:
Nevermind, . I thought the recovery was asking for password.

Try booting in TWRP and using the file manager to delete some user data to make space.

Can you use fastboot (volume down+power)? If you don't have Android SDK, then install Minimal ADB and Fastboot, open cmd in that directory and type "fastboot device" (or "fastboot devices"?) while phone is connected via USB in fastboot mode. If it displays your phone's serial number, then you can use fastboot. If it doesn't show you anything, then I think wiping your phone in recovery or performing a clean flash through Mi Flash is the only way. However, if you can use fastboot, then the next step would be booting into TWRP... but we'll get to that once you confirm if it's working or not.

Hi,
i have checked by typing command---fastboot reboot and my phone reboots and hangs at android one screen so that means i can use fastboot but strangely didnt see in fastboot devices but i found output for fastboot oem device-info where device unlocked shows false and other status.
If this is enough for using fastboot to boot into TWRP?

Actually bad news is that to boot into TWRP you need to unlock your bootloader first (fastboot oem unlock), but to do that I think you need to have enabled "OEM unlocking" in developer settings (though strangely I am unlocked, but for me this option is disabled). Try unlocking anyway. If it doesn't work, then I would follow this guide to clean flash official firmware with Mi Flash Tool. Be warned, you will lose all your data if you manage to unlock your device.

Hi,
Is that mean i will still loose all data even if i unlock bootloader?
And i am unable to unlock bootloader by command. So only option i have now to do factoryreset/wipe data?
So after factory reset again i need to flash the ROM ? Because if again i need to flash ROM, i understand the prerequisite is Bootloader unlock which will create issue again.
Please suggest.

No, if you wipe your phone through recovery you won't need to flash anything. It just deletes all your stuff without touching the system.

Guys pls help me i got stuck on boot logo i want to flash stock rom pls help me
I'm in the same boat. Unable to access developer options as phone won't boot and its stuck at the android one logo.
Fastboot oem unlock gives error Flashing Unlock is not allowed.
Is there anyway around this?
I'm still stuck with my Mi A2. I didn't enable OEM unlock or USB debugging and now i'm stuck on android one logo with only option is to boot into fast-boot mode. All commands and tools i try I get error stating unlock is not allowed in Lock State.
I bit the bullet and ordered an EDL cable so we'll see if i get anywhere with that. I've read that newer Xiaomi devices wont work with EDL cable and only option is to use the test point method....not sure how accurate that is but guess i'll find out whenever the cable gets here.

You can try fastboot oem edl
To put the phone in EDL mode without specific cable
However why not wipe data from the recovery?
Just use fastboot reboot recovery

If you see a triangle, you are in recovery mode
You need to press a button combination to see options, Search on Google for that

My Mi A1 can´t turn on properly.

I tried to flash Pixel Experience, activate USB debugging and OEM unlocking, start TWRP, clean System, Data and Dalvik, flashed the ROM and restart, but when I started it asked for a password for encryption, I placed it but mentioned that the files were damaged and it went into reboot, and so on. So I went to the CMD terminal to flash the stock ROM, but I was not allowed to flash the boot.img, so I rebooted from CMD to the bootloader with "fastboot reboot-bootloader" and it was turned off to not turn on. I already managed to revive it using the Test Point method, but at the moment of starting it now it enters Bootloop, it is on for 30 seconds and it turns off again ... Is there anything I can do to remove the bootloop?

[Guide] how to root and install TWRP on redmi note 6 pro

First of all at the time there is no official way to root redmi note 6 pro
This guide is suitable for the global version and mybe Indian version need to check because in India redmi note 6 pro not available
I'm not responsible if anything happens to your device. If you execute this procedure properly then you shouldn't face any problems. I tried this procedure on Redmi Note 6 pro and it worked flawlessly. I used a computer with Windows 10 insider .
Before you proceed please back up all your important data and make sure that your phone battery is charged >60%
A .Prerequisites
1. Disable driver signature enforcement in Windows
How to do this pls read here: http://en.miui.com/thread-237673-1-1.html
2. Install ADB and Fastboot tools with drivers on Windows
How to do this pls read here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/sho....php?t=2588979
3. Enable "OEM unlocking" and "USB debugging" in your device
a. Enable Developer Options in: Settings/About Phone/MIUI version. Click on MIUI version seven times
b. Now go to: Settings/Additional Settings/Developer Options and check "OEM unlocking" and "USB debugging"
4. Check if your bootloader is locked
a. After successful installation of "ADB and Fastboot" enter the fastboot mode by holding together "Volume Down + Power" and connect your device to your computer via USB cable (best would be the original cable).
b. Go to the folder where you have put the "ADB and Fastboot" and open a command window inside that folder. To do that hold together "Shift + Right Click" on any empty white space inside the folder and then select "Open PowerShell Window Here" or "Open Command Window Here"
c. Enter the terminal command in command line: >>fastboot devices<<
If you don't see your device it means that the drivers weren't installed properly or the device wasn't connected properly. If this happens please reinstall your drivers from Point A. 2. or try these drivers here:
http://xiaomiadvices.com/download-xiaomi-usb-drivers/
d. If you see your device then enter the terminal command in command line: >>fastboot oem device-info<<
If your bootloader is locked, you'll get the following status (or something similar):
…………………………………………………………………….
(bootloader) Device tampered: false
(bootloader) Device unlocked: false
(bootloader) Device critical unlocked: false
(bootloader) Charger screen enabled: false
(bootloader) Display panel:
OKAY [ 0.058s]
finished. total time: 0.063s
………………………………………………………………………
If your bootloader is unlocked, you'll get following status (or something similar):
…………………………………………………………………….
(bootloader) Device tampered: false
(bootloader) Device unlocked: true
(bootloader) Device critical unlocked: true
(bootloader) Charger screen enabled: false
(bootloader) Display panel:
OKAY [ 0.053s]
finished. total time: 0.055s
………………………………………………………………………
5. Request Permission from Xiaomi to Unlock the Bootloader
a. Create a Mi Account: https://global.account.xiaomi.com/pass/register
b. Sign to Xiaomi and apply for unlocking http://en.miui.com/unlock
You have to give a reason for requesting to unlock the bootloader.
c. Wait for permission. however very few users are reporting a waiting time of up to 7 days . If your request is approved then you should receive a message with following content:
"You've been granted the permission to unlock your device (Mi Account xxxx). Donload Mi Unlock Tool At http://en.miui.com/unlock"
6. Connect your Mi Account to your Device
Go to: Settings/Additional Settings/Developer Options/Mi Unlock status and check "Add account and device"
B . UNLOCKING BOOTLOADER
Attention: Unlocking the bootloader will erase all your data! So please back up your data before you unlock the bootloader
1. You must enable "OEM unlocking" and "USB debugging" as per point A. 3.
2. You must connect your Mi Account with your device as per point A. 6.
3. Download Mi Unlock Tool here: http://en.miui.com/unlock
4. Enter the fastboot mode by holding together "Volume Down + Power" and connect your device to your computer via USB cable (best would be the original cable)
5. Start the Mi Unlock Tool
6. Enter your eMail and your password of your Mi Account
7. Connect you device to your computer and start the unlock procedure
8. Follow the unlock tool instructions until the unlock procedure is finished
9. Reboot your device
In case you get the message, that the unlocking can be done after 360h or 720h then you have to wait for that time to pass
C . INSTALL THE TWRP RECOVERY
your boot loader must be unlocked
1. Download the file https://drive.google.com/file/d/1pgcTalz8rAFWYwP8xYNmNB8uTk-OlAn4/view?usp=drivesdk

Someone has the same problem or knows the solution?
Very thanks
I have problems with this twrp.
When i enter in recovery it ask for a password to decrypt the data storage. I tried everything but i don't know how to decrypt, So i can't mount Internal and SD Partition and neither root my phone
I tried to wipe data, but even in this case i can't navigate into internal storage.
Should i wait for an official TWRP?

in that menu I think that you can press cancel and enter in the menu of recovery

same thing happened to me .. as I enter to the TWRP, I have being asked for the pin unlock password, which is not the one I have previously set on the miui. I rebooted to system, removed the pin protection and yet again it didn't helped with the TWRP asking the pass .. if I hit the cancel, I enter to the TWRP yet no any storage is mounted and can't do nothing further. So for a lot of us this guide is not 100% good.

I was finally able to root the phone, but i don't know exacly how.
BTW
My TWRP is V.3.2.3 v3 Special Edition mod by Mr-r00t
In TWRP just click "Cancel" to password request, then you should be able to see the content of the Sdcard.
From there i flashed "Disable_Dm-Verity_ForceEncrypt_09.02.2018.zip" and "Magisk-v18.0(18000).zip"
Rebooted in system and did some setup in Magisk app
I did install also "Root checker basic"," Root Browser" , "Titanium Backup" from PlayStore.
In "Root checker basic" installed BusyBox too.
Finally root is working, and i was able to copy a new "Hosts" file in \system\etc, just to get rid of annoying ads .
Good luck
Right, I managed the same last eve *with the other recovery to be honest) .. root after magisk works, and tapatalk is clean after adaway was installed .. yet my data is encrypted and I cannot for instance do the full backup from the twrp. I am concerning format data, as I understood that it should remove the encryption, yet I am not sure would I have to flash something (ROM?) after I format the data, or I could just reboot to the system, as is?
magisk manager shows ticked 'preserve force encryption' and unticked 'preserve avb2.0/dm-verify', I suppose that such situation corresponds to the fact that I am encrypted, and I have flashed disable_dm_verity, just like being said.
also, our (RN6PRO) devices have activated anti-roll-back (mine arb index is 4) so there should be no much space for mistakes.

Sorry i cannot help with that question about format DATA , my skills are limited.
My Magix manager shows the same " ticked 'preserve force encryption' and unticked 'preserve avb2.0/dm-verify', "
I am ok with my phone now, and don't want the risk to loose everything or to be forced reinstall all.
I hope someone else could answer this question.
Have a nice day.

Mi 9T bootloop after I did nothing

So, I was just casually browsing the web on my pc, when I needed to do something on my phone. So I pick up my phone just to find it boot looping with no chance of entering recovery, only fast boot. I haven't unlocked it. I haven't installed TWRP anything. Please help meee .
If you are able to boot your phone in fastboot mode, and does not have any important data on it, you can try a factory reset from fastboot. To do it, install adb and fastboot with drivers in your pc, go to dastboot mode on your phone, connect your phone with the pc, wait for drivers to be installed, and type in cmd:
fastboot erase data
fastboot erase cache
And then, try to reboot the phone by typing:
fastboot reboot
First boot after that can be long, so wait up to 10 minutes. If it will successfully boot, you will have to pass the configuration wizard and install your apps again.
Very important
If your phone is connected with Mi account, you have to remember your password for this account. It is because MIUI has an built-in anti-thief protection like iPhones, and it will be triggered. So, you will not be able to activate and use your phone without Mi account password.

Is there any chance to get my files back?
Hopefuly yes, if it was backed up in Google Drive or Mi Cloud.
Or there is a possibility that you will be able to transfer your files into your pc if you plug in the phone while it is bootlooping. Hopefuly the PC will see your phone and thw files on it, or if you used an adb before, and granted an authority to your pc, you can use an adb to cppy your files.
If above options does not help, the only way is gping to the service care and asking if they can fix the phone without losing your data.
Unlucky, you have a locker bootloader, so you can't install TWRP and have an ability to easy copy your files into your pc.

Samsung J5 SM-J530f: do I need to unlock OEM bootloader to boot into TWRP?

TL;DR: Do I need to unlock OEM bootloader to boot into TWRP on the SM-J530f?
A friend of mine own a Samsung J5 (J530F), and she broke her screen (of course, USB debugging is not enabled), and she really would like to recover some files & contacts. I tried to blindly unlock the screen with an OTG keyboard, but for now, I'm not very successful (it's even harder when you never used a phone to blindly unlock it ), so I also tried to flash this TWRP recovery. (my hope is to get access to ADB shell after booting TWRP) Using heimdall, I didn't see error that looks fatal, just a minor (?) error during the session ending:
HTML:
Uploading RECOVERY
100%
RECOVERY upload successful
Ending session...
ERROR: Failed to receive session end confirmation!
Releasing device interface...
However, after rebooting with Power+Volume up+Home, nothing special happens (at least given that I can't see the broken screen). And "adb shell" can't find the device.
So do you think I just did something wrong, or do I really need to unlock the bootloader to boot TWRP on the SM-J530f? If I do need to unlock the OEM, is there some signed image that could let me boot something with ADB access? If not, any other idea?
Thanks!
Odin
Hey !
I don't really understand but I could advise you to use Odin for Samsung instead ADB shell (if you use it, think to uncheck auto reboot). If you don't use it maybe try to install samsung usb drivers.
For the OEM unlock, It depend of your android version. I am not sure but you can unlock it in the dev options in the settings in Android Oreo or Nougat but not in Pie or Ten.
In theory, you can access to the device storage in recovery mode by using a computer.
I think it is all,
Cheers.
Thanks for your answer, but unfortunately I can't access the dev settings because the screen is broken. If I could go in dev settings, I'd just enable usb debugging directly.
