Hey guys. Thanks for the guide, I'm stuck however. I installed the latest global developer ROM in order to root and flash twrp, but there is no native option to root the ROM. What am I doing wrong? Bootloader is unlocked with xiaomi approval. Or is root China Rev ROM exclusive? If yes, the op should make that very clear, so that even dimwits like me understand it.

Hi there,
I did not use global ROM, true, don't know if possible with it.
Did you perform this step?
- Connect to WIFI
- Setting > Permissions > Root access
- Activate root access
The phone will then download a bunch of things and reboot.
After that you will be able to install TWRP and give it root access.
If not, tell me, I will update guide,
and you can reinstall Chinese ROM, to complete process, a matter of a few minutes.
Let me know
Thanks for your help! I already fixed in in the meantime, though. The permissions app only shows the root-button, if you are on the Chinese dev ROM. Which I wasn't (global one instead). Maybe you should add some extra weight to that in the guide. Other than that, it worked like a charm! Thanks buddy!
Edit: Sorry, didn't see that you pretty much already wrote all of that.

Answer from TWRP is Success, but after reboot to recovery there is no TWRP, just MI logo all the time.
Model is Redmi 3S Global
and of course:
C:\xx\platform-tools>adb disable-verity
Verity already disabled on /system

Have you downloaded the TWRP version for the 3 S? Not the Redmi 3?
I am not sure what are the differences here, but maybe the phone cannot boot if it is the wrong version.

Do you know what could I have missed? Maybe not wiped correctly?
What could I do to troubleshoot/fix?

Hmm, never seen that one,
Just to be sure, you did the following steps:
- Restart computer as per section: Windows 10 "Disable driver signature enforcement"
[...]
- Reboot to recovery, power off, power on "Vol. up" + "Power"
- Touch "Download" button (screen goes black)
- Plug-in USB cable
- Open Miflash tool... (this I know you did cause of the screen capture)
Do you have any devices identified as not properly installed in the Window peripherals?
Maybe try and install Android tools (also in the tuto) before and try to issue commands to your device.
Also, Googling "ping target failed xiaomi" I found that: http://en.miui.com/thread-354050-1-1.html
You might want to use older tool version.
Let us know
Thank you for your time.

Maybe you did something wrong cause most of the people here on XDA have no issue.
Try using an older ROM, or clean install... let us know!
By the way, this is just a guide to flashing,
Which I believe was useful for you cause you were able to change ROM.
Don't report bugs/issues on the ROM here, it is just a guide, report them on the ROM thread itself: https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-3/development/rom-cyanogenmod-14-0-t3481701
Hey guys,
I really do not know what to do.
with redmi one - i did not have problems - ok only one time
now I tried to put new international rom on my redmi 3 in holiday. I really treid it for at least 10 hours now! no success. I think, i am stupid....
flash unlock with sms and tool "miflash_unlock-en-2.2.406.5" worked.
next step is to power off and turn on with power up and power button.
If I do this, the redmi device always goes to fastboot picture rabbit and does not react to anything.
At this point I could not do anything. I always waited until accu was empty (1day) and then try it again in some other way.
Is there some really good guide? I do not know what i am doing wrong.
thank you in advance.
my redmi 3s crashed yesterday and i have the same problem now.
see here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/xiaomi-redmi-3s/help/phone-crashed-fingerprint-deleted-120-t3603930
for redmi 3 i downloaded a lot:
roms
02 MiFlashUnlock
03 TWRP
05 Root SuperSU
TWPR and RootSuperuser i do not get installed, too.
It seems that unlocking the BootLoader on the WileyFox Swift2+ is even easier.
To unlock the boot loader (WARNING!!! This wipes your user data!!!)
Go To 'Settings - About Phone' Tap 'Build Number' seven times to enable 'Developer Options'.
Go To 'Developer Options' Enable 'Advanced Reboot', Enable 'OEM Unlocking'
...## not sure if these next few steps are even needed!!
Connect to computer running "Minimal ADB and Fastboot"
Open command window as administrator (To prevent Win10 messing around).
Enter command "fastboot oem unlock"
...##
Press the phone 'Power Off - Reboot - FastBoot'
PC detects device and states "Follow instructions on device screen"
Phone screen issues dire warnings about unlocking Bootloader.
Proceed and job done Bootloader is Unlocked (device at this point not rooted).
The stock Swift2+ Cyanogen Rom is no longer available - seek out the LineageOS rom instead
I unlocked my bootloader the other day and those are the same steps I did so I can confirm this works.
I then proceeded to root the phone with SuperSU 2.78. Worked a treat.

Yes initially the only version of SuperSU I could find was v2.46, which kept failing.
Any help? My reboot menu doesn't have a fastboot option. Yes I have advanced reboot and oem unlocking enabled.
Edit: Sorted it. Turns out you have to reboot into the bootloader.

Is it too hard to google your question?
Works on most devices:
1) Turn off device
2) Hold VOLUME UP button
3) Connect device to PC via usb-cable
I installed SuperSU, before that I installed TWRP. Now I am unable to install the latest update "cm-marmite-a1478a0ee9-to-7aa1c797975e-signed"
When I download this update and perform the actual install, it gives an error. Restarting the phone via TWRP recovery gives the same error. I am getting "Error 7"
So no I want to revert back, to get rid off SuperSU and TWRP to install all updates and then later root the device with TWRP and SuperSU. How do I get the original state of the phone back?
Or do you have any advice how to get the latest update installed?
Thx.

edit: Updating to the latest Oreo update (8.1 I think)
---------- Post added at 08:34 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:14 AM ----------
ohhhhhhh, I had to turn the phone off while connected, already running "adb & fastboot" (not just adb) then (phone connected in USB debugging mode) turn off the phone and hold volume up (no need to hole the power key as connected and I got the option to unlock with a warning that I may void the warranty. Then my phone encrypted/re-encrypted itself (I think it was already encrypted).
Now to flash TWRP (3.2 I think) and flash a custom ROM (Lineage 15.1 / 8.1 Oreo) Not sure if I should root or not. And if I do, should I root before installing 8.1?
got damit i never understand how to flash twrp i followed what google said.
fastboot flash recovery XXX.img it does its thing i reboot still no recovery im on stock cm12 ? i think or cm13 android 6.0)

your device isn't picked up by fastboot ...first of all install the very latest version of adb ...using the usual Ubuntu story
sudo apt-get install adb
sudo apt-get upgrade
sudo apt-get update
sudo reboot
then switch on your device
go to /settings/about/buildnumber
click until developer settings are enabled
go to developer settings
toggle oem unlock to on
toggle adb to on
WITHOUT SWITCHING OFF
connect device to pc/laptop with original orange wileyfox cable
now your Ubuntu machine
must install drivers and Mount the phone so it should appear as a mounted volume on desktop
now open a terminal
now run the following :
sudo adb
sudo adb devices
now look on your phone and pull down the notification shadse ..make sure you have adb connected and file transfer mode ..if not change from charge to file transfer ...
there should be a pop up window on phone screen asking for permission for adb ..select allways allow and give pernission / authorization ..
now in terminal run adb devices and it should return some value as connected device
run:
adb reboot bootloader
phone will reboot to bootloader
run:
fastboot oem unlock
*use volume up to select yes
**beware will erase DATA ...
***if it doesn't work and adb and fastboot doesn't detect your device it is a driver problem but i haven't used Ubuntu in ages so can't remember steps to update your drivers other than updating the whole adb package
****some ubuntu instructions might be a little off as I've explained previously it's been a while
*****your waiting for device means
-adb service didn't start
+try "sudo adb"
-adb drivers out of date
+try sudo apt-get update
-adb on device not toggled to on
+toggle adb in dev settings
*adb authorization not given **should still see unauthorized device
-bad usb cable
+try another usb cable
-bad usb port
+try a different usb port
_____for clarity double check Ubuntu adb instructions and commands but this should put you on the right track____

don't reboot immediately ..stock recovery will be flashed back over twrp
*i assume you know how to get to fastboot
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot oem unlock
*volume up for yes
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
*make sure you have a copy of twrp called recovery.img in adb folder
when it says sending...
then is says writing ...
then it says done
DON'T REBOOT
UNPLUG USB
***MANUALLY BOOT TO BOOTLOADER USING VOLUME UP AND POWER
**** IN BOOTLOADER SELECT "RECOVERY"
you should then just wait on wileyfox first time it takes a minute or two don't know why then
it should boot to twrp
***you can take stock boot.img and patch it with magisk
-use: fastboot flash boot boot.img
-then you will have magisk and rooted
-using twrp apk or something like root rasher or flasher ..give apk root permission
-download twrp ..flash with apk from inside system ..after flashing select yes to reboot directly to recovery
Thanks very much, I've unlocked my bootloader now! Onto the TWRP, Magisk and LineageOS business now

okay no problem
*i know everybody likes lineage and its usually more stable and the base for many custom roms
however just my 2cents worth ...i tried all the roms for our device ..but the by far the best for me was following the tutorial on how to make our device treble compatible ..
Then ...after 3-4 months of trying different treble GSI's i have stopped on Viper Official Pie 64bit A-only treble system.img ... at least give it a try after trying out lineageOs ..
you might thank me .
I can't get my device to show up usb debugging is on, Advanced Reboot', 'OEM Unlocking' etc. I've been trying for hours and hours. It shows up to transfer files if I want that mode so my PC is recognising it, but it doesn't seem to have drivers for adb. I've tried installing google usb drivers and also this: https://afterthoughtsoftware.com/posts/using-adb-with-wileyfox-swift
sorry if I haven't explained clearly, I'm just so sleepy from going around in circles. :|
I've rooted phones before and never had this issue. please can anybody help?
edit: have fixed I think! did two things at once so not sure which. I revoked usb devices so that my computer would have to ask permission again to connect (or something like this) and also clicked a thing on my PC to allow it to update what I think said driver icons automatically, which I wouldn't have thought would help, but it seemed to find the adb driver this time. I'd probably make more sense if it weren't 1am. :|
When i got my Swift 2 X, it came updated with 8.1 Oreo out of the box and the issue I had was unlocking the bootloader.
Sure fastboot oem unlock unlocked so I could flash recovery and roms but whenever I tried flashing a bootloader via fastboot, it gave me "FAILED (remote: Critical partition flashing is not allowed)". So that part was still locked.
This I fixed way back after searching around on my own about it but since the solution to this aint mentioned around here and I can't be the only one who have encountered this I think, I am just gonna add it in here.
There are now other commands to unlock your device, fastboot flashing unlock that does the exact same thing that fastboot oem unlock does and fastboot flashing unlock_critical is the command that unlocks the bootloader.
Both commands prompts you with the usual to confirm unlock and wipes your data.
It doesn't matter if you already unlocked the device with the oem command or flashing command, fastboot flashing unlock_critical should be able to unlock the bootloader either way.
My swift was also at 8.1 I had no problem unlocking the bootloader.

Doesn't seem that many who have this lock on their bootloaders, the only ones I could find here who had locked bootloaders the same way as I had are in the LineageOS 14.1 thread.
So at least I am not alone with that but sure makes me wonder how it is so for some while others not.
After unlock bootloader Everytime reboot always like this https://ibb.co/NSZR818
How to Unlock bootloader + flash twrp recovery + root and install SuperSu in Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 (Snapdragon) without waiting for permission on the Latest MIUI 8 - V8.0.6.0.LHOMIDG. (as of 22-11-16)
Here you have the step by step procedures to successfully unlock your Redmi Note 3 SnapDragon global variant with latest global stable rom MIUI 8. Please follow the steps carefully.
The rom used for this procedure is the latest global stable fastboot rom MIUI V8.0.6.0.LHOMIDG.
This is the working guide for the Xiaomi redmi note 3 (SD) on latest MIUI 8.0.6.0 as on 22-11-2016. I did lots of experiments, bricked my device several times to find this working guide for latest rom, however you are free to link to this page for reference.
You dont need to apply for official unlocking and wait for a month or more to get the sms confirmation from xiaomi to officially unlock the bootloader, the problem with the official method is many users have reported that they did not receive the confirmation sms from xiaomi, even if they receive the confirmation sms the unlocking process stucks at some percentage and fails to unlock the bootloader. So for everyone here is the easy way to Unlock bootloader + flash twrp recovery + root and install SuperSu in Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 (Snapdragon) without waiting for permission.
First of all take a backup of all important files from your phone to your PC before starting. Because all data will be formatted while flashing the rom.
I have simplified most of the procedures and complicated works for this guide. A good part of the credit goes to some other developers because their works were helpful to me for experimenting to find this working full unlocking guide for the latest miui rom for redmi note 3 (SD) as of 22-11-2016.

Note: After that when you connect your phone to the Pc to execute adb commands, a prompt may appear on your phone with computer's fingerprint key, you should confirm it when it appears. In case if you already done this for your computer with proper adb drivers installed, you don't need to bother about this.
Step 2:
DISABLE DRIVER SIGNATURE ENFORCEMENT IN YOUR PC:
You now have to disable driver signature enforcement in your PC, to do this you have to open the settings window by pressing the shortcuts"Windows button + i -> Update & Security -> Recovery -> Advanced startup -> Restart now. Now the system will logout and show Recovery options, from there select Troubleshoot -> Startup Settings in Advanced options -> Restart. Your system will now reboot and show the "Startup settings" screen, a list of options will be available, you have to choose option number 7 to disable driver signature enforcement. Then the system will boot into the OS with driver signature enforcement disabled. After that do not restart your pc until all the below steps are completed, in case if you restart your pc for any reason you need to redo this step again because system reboot might enable driver signature enforcement again. That's it. Refer this video if you need further guidance.
Step 3:
To install ADB, Fastboot and other drivers in your PC:
Install the " minimal_adb_fastboot_v1.4_setup _working " file downloaded from the link I provided above. If any security prompts appear on your screen, allow all prompts.
Install the " MiPcSuiteSetup_v3.2.1.3111_2717.exe " file downloaded from the link I provided above. If any security prompts appear on your screen, allow all prompts.
Install the " MiFLash_v2016.08.30.0.zip " file downloaded from the link I provided above. If any security prompts appear on your screen, allow all prompts.
Step 4:
Extract AnF.zip file and execute the commands:
Now extract the "AnF.zip" file downloaded from the link I provided above. Connect your phone to Pc using the Usb cable. Open the extracted AnF folder and double click on the cmd.exe file, which will open a adb command window from there.
Execute the below command through adb command window to check and confirm the phone is connected via adb interface. If connected properly it should show device serial like "******** device"
adb devices
Incase if your phone shows a prompt for computer's fingerprint key approval, allow it. Then execute the command again. You should see your phone serial number as shown in the image below, which means your phone is properly connected via adb. Incase if the device is not connect properly via adb, disable and enable USB debugging on your phone. If that also helping to install the phone's adb drivers, extract and run the"ADBdriversetup.zip" downloaded from the link I provided above to install the specific drivers for your phone.
Step 5:
Reboot the phone to EDL mode:
Now you have to reboot your phone to edl mode aka Emergency download mode. To do this execute the below command via adb window with phone still connected to Pc.
adb reboot edl
Your phone will now reboot into blank screen or edl mode and new driver named "qshusb qloader 9008" will be installed in your Pc, now only red led notification light will be blinking on your phone. Once the driver is installed properly, the phone is now connected in edl mode. Now close the adb command window.
Step 6:
Setup MiFlash Tool & Flash the ROM:
Open the MiFlash tool (MiFLash_v2016.08.30.0.zip) application you installed earlier, click refresh button and your phone will be visible as port number (ex: COM10) in MiFlash tool. Exe file is in this path,"C:\Xiaomi\XiaoMiFlash"
Now extract the "kenzo_global_images_V8.0.6.0.LHOMIDG PreRooted by SUBI.tgz" fastboot rom file downloaded from the link I provided above. In your MiFlash tool window, click the Browse button and locate the extracted fastboot rom folder. Then select "clean all" button at the bottom of MiFlash window. The flash tool is now configured. Now click the Flash button.
Wait for few minutes for the flashing process to complete, once the process is complete and MiFlash tool window will show task finished. But do not disconnect the phone.
Step 7:
Reboot to Fastboot mode & execute Fastboot commands:
Now while the phone is still connected to your pc, reboot your phone to fastboot mode by pressing Volume down button and Power button simultaneously until you see the boot screen and release, the phone will now enter into fastboot mode.
Now double click and open the cmd.exe file from AnF folder you extracted earlier to open the command window. Then execute the below command.
fastboot oem device-info
This command will show you the current bootloader status. The bootloader status shows "Device Unlocked: False", execute the below command in command widow, it will Unlock the bootloader.
fastboot oem unlock-go
Your device might restart now, if restarts press Volume down button and Power button simultaneously to reboot phone to fastboot mode again to check your bootloader status again by executing the below command. It should show "Device Unlocked: True" in the command window. Which means the device's bootloader is unlocked.
fastboot oem device-info
Now to flash TWRP recovery and Supersu for root permissions, jump to step 8, or if your aim is to unlock the bootloader only, you may restart your phone and skip all below steps.
Step 8:
Flash TWRP:
Now restart phone to fastboot mode by pressing Volume down button and Power button simultaneously until you see the fastboot screen.
Extract the "twrp-3.0.2-2-kenzo for Redmi Note 3 _SD.zip" file downloaded from the link I provided above to the AnF folder.
Then open the AnF folder, double click and open the cmd.exe file, paste the below command in the command window to flash twrp recovery.
fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.0.2-2-kenzo.img
After flashing the recovery image reboot the phone to TWRP recovery by pressing Volume Up button and Power button simultaneously until you see the boot screen. It will boot the phone into TWRP recovery, on the front screen just swipe the slider to mount system as read only. That's it now to flash supersu proceed to step 9.
Step 9:
Flash SuperSu:
While the phone is in TWRP recovery connect the phone to Pc, it will be detected as mass storage device, just copy the "SR1-SuperSU-v2.78-SR1-20160915123031.zip" file downloaded from the link I provided above to your phone's mass storage device.
On the twrp menu click on Install option and locate the "SR1-SuperSU-v2.78-SR1-20160915123031.zip" to install via twrp, now swipe the slider to right to install supersu to have root access in your phone's OS and then wipe dalvik cache using the button below in twrp.
If twrp shows any read/write error while flashing supersu, on the twrp mainscreen choose mount option and click on system in the next menu, then go back to main screen and try again to install.
That's it, now supersu is installed, to check the root status follow to step 10.
Step 10:
Check root status:
After completing all the steps successfully, reboot the phone into the system normally and complete the initial setup without Sim card, the first boot may take a little more time to boot into OS, In case if the phone stuck in boot screen for very long(10+ mins), go to troubleshoot section at the bottom and start over the steps. Otherwise you are good to go.
Connect device to Pc after initial setup completes, now copy the "Root Checker.apk" file to your phone and install it, open the root checker app and click on verify root, you will be prompted by Supersu for root permission, allow it, your root access will be verified. Voila, you have successfully rooted, flashed twrp and installed supersu on your Redmi Note 3 with latest rom installed.
That's it. Now you are ready to rock.
KNOWN ISSUES:
No issues found so far, in case if you find any issues after successfully unlocking using the above method, kindly let me know.
After successfully unlocking your bootloader, incase if you update your rom via official updates, your will lose root access and twrp custom recovery and may end up with locked bootloader again, if you face this situation by some reason, you may start over and follow this guide from step 1 to revert back to unlocked bootloader. Do not update the rom and turn off automatic updates in settings as a precautionary measure.
Troubleshoot:
If your device gets bricked or Stuck in Boot logo, try this,
Reboot your phone into edl mode by following below step.
If you are stuck on bootscreen, you may not be able to enter into edl mode using the normal method above because of bootloop or Stuck in Boot logo, in that case try this method to enter into edl mode from fastboot, download "fastboot_edl.zip" file from the link I provided above, extract the zip file and open the extracted folder, connect the phone to your Pc in fastboot mode(vol down + power), double click and run this file "edl.cmd", the phone will automatically enter into edl mode if the phone's drivers and adb drivers are installed properly. Now follow step 6 and follow on from this step.
If QHUSB_BULK drivers are not properly installed while the phone in edl mode,
If QHUSB_BULK drivers are not installed while the phone in edl mode, your device may not be visible in MiFlash tool(ex:COM10) even after you click refresh button, in this case open the device manager in your Pc, the phone will be visible as QHUSB_BULK with some alert sign, right click on it and select Update driver software. Then click browse my computer and browse to the location of the driver files in path "C:\Program Files\Xiaomi\MiPhone\Qualcomm\Driver" and proceed and when prompted to Install this Driver Software anyway, allow it and complete the driver installation. Now open MiFash tool and click refresh button your device will be detected in MiFash tool, now you can flash the fastboot rom by following the steps above.
Does this work for Kate version also? OP doesn't specify
Will I lose my warranty by using this method of bootloader unlock?
This method still works for Global Snapdragon phone. Finally got it last night after 2 days of torture (I didn't sleep).
The important part is firstly the image with the modified file you are going to flash to the phone. Here he is using v8.0.6.0 which is the newest (and now last) update for android 5.1 (which is needed, phone will not flash 6.0 without a proper Cache and data clear). I ended up using version 7.3.2.0 which is 1 patch before the version my phone came with (7.3.7.0). Then I replaced emmc_appsboot.mbn with the one from here then flashed the file in EDL mode.
After the flash is done is just as important I found. You place it in fastboot mode (power button + vol down) and run a script. I wasn't able to manually unlock the device via cmd line 'fastboot oem unlock-go'. Instead I found a script that worked from here called 'Root_Folder' (this site also has majority of the files needed). You use the script called 'Root' in the folder to finish the unlock. Notice there is a 'recovery.img' in the folder as well, I replaced it with ZCX TWRP.
Now run through the script after the flash in fastboot mode. Follow the instructions from script, sometimes you take cable out or force phone back into fastboot mode. The key goal here is to have the script boot into TWRP in the end. If this happens you can do all that's needed now.
Another thing I noticed was you have to give debug permission to computer your using and save permission. Debug mode/oem unlock - connect cable, on phone you should get a prompt to accept PC and save permission. If you don't get this prompt make sure you have ADB and Fastboot installed.
Important steps are:
1. Phone connect to computer via debug/oem mode.
2. Flash correct modified ROM with MiFlash in EDL mode.
3. Once flash is done hold power and volume down button for fastboot mode.
4. Run script to attempt to unlock bootloader and/or install TWRP.

You would have to look it up for Kate specifically. If anything at all that changes it's the Image you use to flash the phone.

Don't think so. You don't 'officially unlock it' and you can flash a stock image that relocks the phone automatically.
Thank you works 100% !!!!
After booting to TWRP it's asking me for a decrypt password and I cannot mount any partitions. Then I tried rebooting but phone is stuck on MI logo.

Can you boot back into TWRP? If not you'll have to reinstall from EDL mode and try to unlock bootloader again.
A decrypt password to access any of the internal storage? Did you have a password with last install of MIUI? Also boot into fastboot and see if your bootloader is unlocked with 'fastboot oem device-info'. If your bootloader is unlocked, you might have to reformat data files on phone, which will wipe system completely and remove encryption.
Oh you probably also need to put a SD card into the device to use to flash from, if your flashing a new ROM. You have to wipe main system with advance wipe, wipe everything but internal storage and micro sdcard (in TWRP).

Yes Praw Zoll, you can use this method for your device, I have tested this method working on Redmi Note 3 pro or Kenzo or Snapdragon variant.
You can also refer this miui thread for this same method with images and video, en.miui(dot)com/thread-461694-1-1.html

This method is for Redmi Note 3 pro, (Kenzo) variant.
can i use it for global stable 8.2.3 ??
The heart of this - the unofficial bootloader unlock - are taken from: http://en.miui.com/thread-345728-1-1.html (It's generally polite to link your sources).
This _does_ work on `kate`. However, this is using a modified 'emmc_appsboot.mbn'. If you flash an original emmc_appsboot.mbn, you may well find your bootloader no longer unlocked and you needing to reflash your device back to stock.
Also, for those wanting to use it on kate (because Xiaomi seems singularly incompetent when it comes to supporting the official bootloader unlock for that devcie): your device will identify itself as a kenzo, so you may have trouble flashing things like the 'miuifirmware_x.zip' updates for kate. Also, those 'miuifirmware_x.zip' files often include the emmc_appsboot.mbn, so be careful.
On another note, if anyone has an actual infallible method to get an official bootloader unlock for the kate device, please let me know.
Can I use this method for 2GB / 16 GB version of Redmi Note 3 Pro (Snapdragon)?
Thanks
Works Thanks
Tested On 18/05/17
This method works But You are stuck on a older rom with no OTA/Later Updates. Method Does not work with MM Roms.(Maybe with different emmc_appsboot.mbn it would work.
Some Pointers
I was on MIUI8 before using this.
1. This downgrades your ROM from the latest ROM, therefore Points to follow.
2. Use This Method Instead Works with latest firmware as on date.
Works, Simply Nicely Perfectly Done, Just follow the steps things will never goes wrong. :highfive:

hi my phone was on miui 8 marshmallow i used the above method nd flashed the rom ( rom is 5.1.1) which is given after that unlocked bootloader nd installed twrp also but now i downloaded a new rom nd i want to flash it i placed the rom in micro sd card nd wiped everything in phone nd flashed the rom with gapps now phone boots but its stuck at the boot logo of the rom i also tried many other roms of 7.1.1 but same is happening phone is not going ahead its stuck in the rom boot logo what should i do also when i flashed that given rom when i charge the phone the red light blinks which seems like edl light help me out of this !! thanks in advance !!
You have flashed a recovery rom and that's why you are in bootloop.
Try to flash in EDL mode a fastboot rom.
PS: Hope you haven't tried to downgrade already because you can loose IMEI and baseband.
Did not find any post mentioning rooting for 5C on EMUI. If there are any, let me know and I will take down this thread.
Note-
Applicable for Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 10
Similar steps are applicable for EMUI 4.X as well but TWRP file will change.
Saw many user on Honor 5C FB page and on XDA struggling to get root working on EMUI 5. most of the cases I saw, were for EMUI 5.X. I followed the steps mentioned or as applicable for any devices and I did not face any issue so though of compiling this guide for new users who may have faced issue or not able to root the phone. (may be mainly because of correct and working TWRP issue) . I will just simplify the steps so that any new users can do this without any problem and without any prior experience to rooting, it may be long but will be the simple enough for all the users.
Prerequisites-
Enable the developer option in settings-
Go to Settings--> About Phone-->Tab build number 7 times to enable this setting.
Go back in setting page, just above system update, you will see a new menu as -Developer Options
Scroll for the debugging section and enable the USB Debugging
You will be prompted for the confirmation with RSA key, just accept it.
Enable OEM Unlock in Developer Options (just above the USB debugging option) – Most probably this option will not be there on EMUI 5.0 (only few have seen on EMUI but it was there on EMUI 4.1 for all but rarely on EMUI 5.0 or may be because I have used dload most of the time which grayed out this)
Installation of required Drivers.
Connect your phone to PC and install Hi Suite on PC and it will additionally install all the necessary drivers to PC and HiSUite on Mobile.
Download and Install ADB from Link
Accept all the prompts and install ADB drive system wise.
Once installation is completed, if default options are chosen, it will be under C:\adb
Downloading the necessary files.
Download TWRP from Link Thanks to @OldDroid for his Original Thread . Rest of the contributor and credit in original thread by OldDroid.
Move the downloaded file under C:\adb or wherever you have installed the ADB.
Download the SuperSU file from this Link and put it in SD card or keep handy on PC so that you can copy to internal memory later.
Get the unlock as mentioned in this thread
Actual Procedure
Unlocking the bootloader-
Backup all your data as unlocking the bootloader will reset the device and all your data will be erased.
On windows machine, go to folder C:\adb or wherever you installed the adb drivers.
Press shift+right click together and select Open command prompt here
Run - adb reboot bootloader (this command may prompt for acceptance of RSA key if not already accepted)
This will boot the phone into bootloader mode.
Run - fastboot oem unlock <16 digit unlock code- Put your actual code you obtained from Huawei site > (This step will unlock the bootloader and will erase all your data)
Phone will restart automatically.
Installing TWRP
Once on the system, open the PowerShell or command prompt again in ADB folder (can use the previous instance as well)
Run - adb reboot bootloader
Once in bootloader, Run - fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.1.1-0-venus.img (This will install the TWRP recovery for EMUI 5.0 on your phone)
Once done with the flashing the TWRP, Run - fastboot reboot
Rooting
Once booted to system, open the PowerShell or command prompt in ADB folder (can use the previous instance as well)
Run - adb reboot recovery
And your phone will boot into the TWRP recovery.
Copy the SuperU file downloaded to SD card or Internal memory.
Install the SuperSU zip.
Reboot and enjoy.
Happy Flashing.

Hello,
I had the NEM-L51 from my mother running EMUI 4.0x, and decided to upgrade it to the latest version.
It was unlocked, with TWRP as recovery, and rooted.
I did flash back the stock recovery (from HuaweiUpdateExtractor/Update.app), rebooted the device, and applied the OTA (B350 first, then latest B357).
Until then everything is fine, but when I try to flash the TWRP recovery, it doesn't work :

Neither the recommended Venus one, or the current / previous nemo one can be flashed.
Phone and FRP status in fastboot mode both shows Unlocked / Unlock, and the OEM Unlock option in EMUI Developper Settings is also enabled (I toggled it just to be sure).
I'm not sure what's wrong.
Would the update mess with the OEM unlock (by relocking and showing a wrong status) ?
I'd rather not try fastboot OEM unlock with the code (still have it somewhere) and lose data.
Thanks for any advice

Hello,
I had the NEM-L51 from my mother running EMUI 4.0x, and decided to upgrade it to the latest version.

Before trying that recovery, I just tried to flash the stock one from NEM-L51C432B357 full OTA package, and it doesn't work either

So it's not a recovery issue.
How useful is the HiSuite backup ?
If I make a backup with it, will it be able to restore most user app's and system's data ?
I'd rather not re set everything up, and I'm afraid I'll have to retry to OEM unlock the device (so force wipe), even if it says it's unlocked (which it should have remained in the first place)

Hisuite can be used for back.. reliable one but not same as titanium backup. Backup WhatsApp on local and g drive. Zip the WhatsApp folder in internal memory and then copy to pc.
Rest other apps, via hisuite (can backup WhatsApp as well here).

You file should be in path D:\Android\platform-tools\ and not D:\Android\HuaweiUpdateExtractor_0.9.9.5\
I hope adb is installed under D:\Android\platform-tools\, if not, it will be udner C drive as C:\adb\
copy the recovery file whereever the adb is installed and then run the command
fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.1.1-0-venus.img (replace name with your actual file name)
Ok, so in fact fastboot OEM unlock status was not accurate, and something I didn't notice was the absence of dm-verity warning when booting (showing when it's actually unlocked)

May be. try moving the files and then flashing from that folder and see if it works.

please help me, my device is Huawei GT3 (honor 5c) (NMO L31) it was unlock bootloader before i bought it and now i want to install twrp, so i have to learn a lot of website and Follow me, I downloaded and installed Adb, installed the driver, then downloaded the twrp version with nemo honor for honor 5c, then open CMD or powershell to write commands like adb reboot bootloader then adb fastboot flash recovery twrp.img is under the writing that says Failed (remote: image verification error), I previously copied the twrp 3.0 file ... into the adb folder and renamed to twrp. Now I have to do to install twrp on my device. Please help me.
Hello, I have an NMO_L31 (honor 5c - huawei gr5 mini) device and I have experienced a Failed (remote: image verification error) error when installing TWRP while my phone was unlocked before. have searched from a lot of technology pages to find remedies but all failed. But my God, Jehovah listened to my plea and brought me to @shashank123, I contacted him through XDA and I got him a phone number to make friends on the telegram, he helped me out I and I have overcome the above error. I would like to explain how to overcome the error that I tried. First, I went back to emui 4.1.2 (you can see the instructions then allow OEM unlock, then I update the OTA to emui 5, allow usb debugging when the update is complete. Shift + Right click on CMD (or powershell) and enter "adb devices" to see the connected device, then enter "adb reboot bootloader" then enter "fastboot oem get-bootinfo" To check if the bootloader has been unlocked, then enter the command "fastboot oem unlock (code)" to unlock if the relock bootloader, then if the bootloader has been unlocked then the purpose of the command to factory reset. If that is the case, then go to the phone and see if factory reset is complete. Then develop and reconnect to adb, check the device connected to the "adb devices" command then go to the "adb reboot bootloader" command to get to the fastboot and then use the command "fastboot flash recovery recovery_name.img" (for example : Twrp) "Finally, if the word OKEY appears, you are successful. If you can not solve this problem, please send a message to @shashank123 in XDA and ask for his phone number to make friend through telegram and regular help message because he does not often use XDA. Thank you very much Shashank for helping me. Thanks be to my god JESU CHRIST and JEHOVAH.

No problem at all mate. Helping through telegram was quick in real time rather multiple post or message and then waiting for response from each other. Due to time crunch, I opted to quick help rather keep you waiting all day long
Good you got your phone as per your requirement and able to do what you wanted. Thanks and Enjoy.
You can edit your comment to say "@shashank1320" (use without double quotes) rather Shashank123 as users may send message or qoute him and get no response as that user may or may not exist :silly:

Boot to bootloader again and see the bootloader state if locked or unlocked. Try unlocking it again.
Hi today I will show you how to unlock the boot loader of your honor 5c. I have designed this thread in a Q and A format.
There are two questions
A.What are the requirements for unlocking a boot loader?
B.How Can I unlock my phone's boot loader ?
If you know the solution to one of the question then refer to the next .But read it carefully. Best Of Luck.
A. A.What are the requirements for unlocking the boot loader?
You should backup your phone. Store all you files on your pc or by using a third party software. Your device will be completely wiped when unlocking the bootloader.
Use a PC
Download and install the USB Driver for Honor 5c http://bit.ly/2If7ISe
Download the fast boot files from http://bit.ly/2p0R7JN
Go to Huawei's website http://bit.ly/2z9EFhV create an account and enter your device details.
Copy down your device unlocking code.
Enable USB debugging by tapping the build number in Settings -> About 5 times, then going back and selecting the USB debugging option from the Development menu.
Enable OEM unlock in the Development menu.
B.How Can I unlock my phone's boot loader ?
After installation and download of the files.
1.Connect your device to your Personal Computer by using a USB cable. Make sure your PC recognizes the device. If not, there might be a problem with either the USB cable or the drivers.
2.Extract the tool.rar file.
3. Open MAF32.exe. A CMD window should pop up.
4.Type fastboot devices. A permission window will appear and grant the permissions.
5.Your device serial number should appear, if it is not there is a problem with the installation of the USB drivers.
6.If all goes well, type adb reboot bootloader
8. Your phone will restart into boot loader or fast boot mode.
9.After this type fast boot oem unlock xxxxxxx Replace the xxxxxxx with the unlock code you obtained.
10.Your device will now factory reset. That’s it.
Please thank me if you found this helpful
Cant find the unlocking code on huawei's website?
Hey, i cant find the unlocking code on huawei's website? can u provide step by step guide on how to get the unlocking code on the huawei's website? Thanks in advance.
Dc unlocker is the only option right now
anyother way to unlock
Hi! I got a NEM-L21 (Honor 7 lite/5C). I want to root it and for that I understand that I need to unlock it first, then TWRP, then root? The real issue is the limited internal space, and EMUI has locked down so apps can't be moved to SD-card.
Does DC-unlocker and root still work on this phone? The problem I seem to have is that no COM ports are installed. However ADB still works. DC-unlocker won't find the phone because of no com port?. If I do "adb reboot bootloader" then DC-unlocker finds it.
Code:
Found Phone : NEM-L21
Model : Huawei phone in fastboot mode
IMEI : 123456789123456
Serial NR. : 8SC4C16A3000000
Firmware : NEM-L21C432B361
IMEI:860899034939631
FB LockState: LOCKED
USER LockState: LOCKED
locked
Battery state: 4354mv
In Windows 10, HiSuite is working and connecting to the phone fine too, allowing backups etc..
I tried "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img" (the twrp image) but it doesn't work without unlocking:
Code:
target reported max download size of 471859200 bytes
sending 'recovery' (31572 KB)...
OKAY [ 0.831s]
writing 'recovery'...
FAILED (remote: Command not allowed)
finished. total time: 0.842s
Hi, I'm posting this message because I found a tool that worked to unlock the bootloader of my 5C! Plus it only took 10 seconds, I certainly got lucky. It's a python script, you just have to type your IMEI and it starts bruteforce (Certainly makes sense in relation to the IMEI).
Tool : huawei-honor-unlock-bootloader
you can find it on GitHub https://github.com/SkyEmie/huawei-honor-unlock-bootloader

Sorry to bring up this old post, but how did you succeed in unlocking the Honor 5C? I always get "fastboot: error: Command failed" as an error message. My phone has EMUI 5.0.4
