So today i flashed my SM-S975L from 4.3 Jelly Bean to 6.0.1 Marshmallow CM 13 and the battery life seems fine, however the trouble seems to come when I go to charge. Even plugged in directly to the wall with a wall adapter and using a 2.1 Amp port on a mobile charger it does not seem to want to charge quickly at all. In fact when I went to plug it into the wall at 2% it actually completely DIED and shut off. Plugged into the mobile charger it discharged as well and didn't charge at all despite the phone saying it was "plugged in" I also get the "Slow charging" label on the lock screen when plugged into the wall and mobile charger. It didn't seem to have an issue when it was on 4.3 Jelly Bean so I don't know what the issue is. Is their some setting i'm overlooking? I've tried a couple different cables as well. I am a noob here but I've been using Android's for years. Currently I'm charging it while turned off to see if that helps. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
(UPDATE) I downloaded Ampere and it's only pulling about 500 MA on the wall charger. However it's not a great charge brick, I'll try to find my nicer one tomorrow.
(UPDATE) Same deal with a 5V Apple wall charger, So I just installed the Reconstruction Remix 5.74 Kernel that supports fast charging to see if that fixes it.
(UPDATE) Moved to Lineage OS 7.1.2 AROMA for more kernel support and using the default kernel in the installer. I now get "Charging rapidly" but the MA on Ampere has stayed the same although it does appear the numbers are bumped up atleast a little bit on Ampere.

Hello;
So far I am really enjoying the Nexus 7, except for charging issues. I can only charge it via usb from my Chromebook, when I plug it into the Asus charger or my Nexus S charger, nothing happens; my Nexus S will charge using either charger. I have tried doing a factory reset several times and the problem still exists. Also, I haven'f flashed it and currently I only have Google Apps loaded on it, the latest official Android update (4.1.2) has been done.
Suggestions?
Thanks
Sheldon
If I use the charger and cable that came with the N7, everything works as it should. I tried an alternate charger/cable one time and It didn't show it was charging and didn't show the charge % increasing. But I left it plugged in a couple of hours and when I unplugged it, it updated the battery % and it had gained charge. I think it can be a reporting issue as opposed to a failure to charge. There is something different about the N7 charger or cable that makes other charger/cable combinations report differently.
Last night I was charging my S4 in my car adapter, but noticed the cattery was still going down. I went home and plugged it into my AC (wall charger) and went to bed. The next morning the S4 was dead and couldn't charge. The only solution was to plug it in my computer and went an hour for it to get some charge back.
I have a root i337m running rootbox 4.1, and I went into TWRP to wiped the phone and installed the ROM again - no luck.
Is this a battery issue, a software issue or a whole device issue? Thanks.

I don't think its a rom issue. I tried charging via USB as well and had phone charging a few hours and it ate crap. So I only charge via AC outlet only. USB charges but at a very slow pace.

I made an error in the OP - I meant to say I left it to charge on the wall and I got nothing.
Right now, the charge light doesn't even come on if I plug it with AC.

Maybe see the results by changing the charger you're using?

I've tried 3-4 different chargers and cables, same issue. Charges slowly through PC,doesn't charge at all with AC. Did a factory reset after reverting to stock FW, no luck.

I doubt it's a ROM issue, but there's no harm in reverting back to stock to see the results (assuming you've backed it up). If it all fails, i think you should unroot and send it to Samsung for the warranty. Software problems are somewhat easier to fix here than hardware, so it may be the best option to let Samsung handle it.
I had similar problems with my Note 2 before and now with my S4. What I found was, sometimes the usb cable wasn't tightly plugged into the wall charger. Once I've made sure of this, I've been able to charge (AC) every time.
I found this article that indicates that the S4 is looking for special sauce on the D+D- pins.
http://www.anandtech.com/show/6914/samsung-galaxy-s-4-review/2
Obviously the Galaxy S 4 will charge with any USB charger, but the charge time will simply be longer. Samsung uses a voltage divider and signals the presence of their own charger by sending 1.2-1.3 V across the D+ / D- pins, this is similar to what Apple does with 2.0 or 2.8 V across the pins for various USB chargers they've shipped over the years. This signaling is essentially Samsung's proprietary tablet charging signaling which they've employed on the Galaxy Note 2 and now SGS4, in fact the two use the same exact charger, so it's worth tossing out your old ones and getting the appropriate one to take advantage of the faster charging.
However I do not believe this to be 100% true. I think not all chargers will work..
I took a charger that is very vanilla (Wall charger but the D+D- pins are NC) and it works with the S3 and NEXUS7 but does not work with the S4.
This charger uses a stock USB cable so I took a wall charger that had gone bad but had a dedicated cable and hacked off the end and wired up my own cable...
That works! So it appears that the S4 will only charge properly with certain chargers that do something to the D+D- pins (either shorting them with a resistor like the article indicates
I then took a look at the cable I used to replace. It is a Motorola cable and it has the ID pin pulled high built into the cable... So I suspect that is required for the phone to work... But to fast charge it will need the special sauce indicated above!
Had the same issue and found the solutions which worked for me. Go into the developer mode and deactivate the usb debug mode.
Had the exact same issue. I took a soldering iron to my charging port on my phone. Problem solved. The ID pin had a bad joint.

I have a strange issue, my s4 is detected by pc, charges normally with usb ( wall or pc charge ) my battery is full but when I take the cable from microUSB port and s4 should work with the battery, turns off and consumes no battery, it's like refusing to use the battery and that it is full! battery checked on a sph l 720
I've tried installing other roms with safestrap but I still have the same problem, refuses to consume battery and while the battery is at 100% ,my s4 shows 0% if I disconnect the usb cable... game over. However, I can be on the safestrap menu for hours only with the battery, no problem, is a problem of rom I think but did not know how to fix it .. : (
I'm having the same issue as the original poster. The USB port is good, charges fine when connected to PC (although much slower because of different mVS). Have tried amidst everything and nothing fixes it. I've turned debugging mode off and back on, restore to backup, complete wipe and reinstall of 2 ROMs with and without apps, fix permissions, different kernels, different USB cables... The adaptor is in good condition. But when plugged in while on my phone doesn't recognize that's it's connected. Previously out would give a false charging reading. If off sometimes I got the grey bar battery but note is just vibrating every few seconds. Idk what to do...

I'd guess it's the charger. Get a new one

I had the same problem. S4 will recognize charger as USB charger, not AC. solution was to clean usb port connector, was some cloth covering wires. then restarted and worked ok
I am having trouble charging the phone the same way. I have reset the phone 3 times and still can't get a charge.
I`m represantate 4pda thread of Nexus 10. Lots of people experience troubles with charging our Nexus (including me).
Using native charger in turned off tablet it gave only 50% in 8 hours (in my way)
Others say approximately the same.
I have root, unlocked boot, use Gravity Box (xposed). (It would be normal if my case were sporadic, but...)
Do you know any solve of situation?
I am also experiencing this lately. I'm not sure if it's from the kitkat update or not, but same story here, I leave my tablet charge overnight and when I get up it's at 75% after at least 7 hours of charge. I tried stock kernel, thunderkat and ktmanta, didn't solve the problem.
I've ordered and waiting for N10. I was going to immediately unlock, flash stock 4.4 then root and apply Kernel
I've also ordered a Pogo cable as owners seem to get a faster charge, also to reduce wear on the microusb. I assumed I would be using the supplied microusb PSU?
I've had a N7 for 17 months and on it if I was using it, even with 2Amp PSU, it would often just hold its charge, so not gain charge, when used, I'd have to leave it screen-off to charge. So with N10, you've got experience even when OFF (powered off, not just screen blank) it isn't charging? That sounds weird. If however, it is simply screen off, then go to your battery and see which app is keeping your power consumption up and do something about that app surely???
I noticed it immediately with the micro USB cable and stock charger I have been using since I got mine (just after release). Usually 1100-1700 mA charging. I noticed the minute I updated to 4.4 that my charging averaged 600-800 mA on the USB. After an 8 hour charge it was like 46 percent. It really scared me, thought my tablet was going. I tried switching cables/chargers. Stayed the same.
I switched to the stock wall wart and the pogo plug and it jumped right back to 1700-1800mA till 80 percent charge and then starts dropping. Something it had never done with the pogo. I had to search drawers to find the pogo since I had given up on it's poor performance. It has always been about or less than 1000mA, which is why I always used the usb charger. It seems to be much faster charging now, but only with the pogo. USB barely seems to provide enough power to maintain the charge!
That was the first day on 4.4 manual update, haven't checked since that minor update to krt16s to see if it changed. The pogo seems to be quicker than any charging was.
Yeah my problem also appeared arround the kitkat update.
Hello community.
I am experiencing this problem since around three weeks. My Nexus 7 won't charge with full speed, I even think it is only charging with lower than the half of the rated 2 amps of the stock charger, or even less. As you can see in the attached screenshot, it behaves like it is receiving zero to none power, but the status sais it is in fact charging... I am using CoolTool to monitor the charge rate. While the screen is on and my tablet is just sitting there idle, it is "charging" with about -50mA (slowly discharging) and while watching youtube videos, it discharges with about 450mA. While the screen is off, it actually charges with arond 400mA MAX. While I was typing this it discharged with around 300mA.
I have not checked the resistance of the stock charger nor the cable, and I have yet to try making myself another fastcharge cable.
I am using the stock charger with the stock charging cable, and I recently upgraded to the latest SlimRom and FauxKernel.
Is this some kind of software failure or is my tablet/charger/cable broken?
Is someone experiencing similar problems?
(I have problems uploading pictures, google drive must be sufficient)

All i can think of is ur using low amp charger try using official 2.1amp charger that came with the device.

Hello everyone,
After a long discussion with Samsung and absolutely no help I have ended up here. I recently updated my firmware on my Galaxy S8 Unlocked SM- G950U(Sprint Network) to the latest build G950USQU2CRC5. After this update I can no longer charge my phone and have fast charging. This is with original cable and charger as well as other cables and QC 3.0 compatible charger. Interesting enough when I plug into my QC 3.0 power brick it tells me that the phone is pulling 5v 1.5amps (7.5w) when it normally says 9v 2amps (18w). Also, only my QC 3.0 compatible car charger will make it fast charge . WTF is going on? I have already gone through settings, soft reset and also cleared cache. Nothing seems to fix this problem. I also get (Slow Charging ) notification at times. Does anyone know a workaround or a fix? Is anyone else experiencing this same issue? I have called and alerted Samsung of this issue. Please help if you can.

I seem to be having the same issues won't charge at all with the Samsung fast charger but it will charge in the car and my USB outlet and a Chromecast charger. Updated this morning to the latest firmware, also unlocked gs8

Okay so what I have found out is even with the cable and a few setting changes it will occasionally say it is fast charging however it never pulls more than 5v which defeats the purpose of quick charge.
Disgusted...
Same here; disgusted with the entire issue... Pay good money, longtime loyal customer, trust now eroded... Even went through reformatting the phone, did not help; waste of time... Thinking of switching to iPhone...
It's the cable and/or power brick. Also we're still on march secuirity, Sammy ain't that fast.
I have the same problem, when I upgraded from android 7 to 9, I lost the fast charge, I'm trying to find a solution.
the usb port says it is wet.
when the cell phone is turned off it is constantly informing that it is wet and the phone is trembling.
when it is on, it charges, however in a normal way, without the fast charge
solved.
