Which is more customizable: Paranoid Android or OmniROM? - Sony Xperia X Compact Questions & Answers

As the title says, which rom is more customizable, Paranoid Android or OmniROM?
I want to flash a custom rom on my XC and as far as I can tell, these are the only two official roms for the device. Am I missing a rom out there?
The possibility of changing brightness by sliding across the notification bar is rather important to me. Does both of the roms support this?
Also, does any of the roms support international languages like Danish?
Edit: Arh, my bad for the spelling error in the title. If there is a way to fix it please say so.

I would say they're equal equally customizable, but you'll be happier with Omni. PA never really got off the ground. ..

[Q] How to install themes on the nexus 4?

Hi
I got my N4 a few months ago and wanted to know how to get the themes posted on here onto my phone.
Any help/links would be appreciated.Complete noob here.My first android phone and would be great if there is a guide for dummies or anything similar.
Hope to learn a lot from xda.
Thanks
If you're on the stock rom then you can't use themes. You need to flash a rom that supports themes and most of them do (CM, AOKP, PA, etc.). After that it's just a matter of installing the theme apk then opening up the theme chooser and setting the theme.

Can't answer that for you. Thats like saying what is the most stable and easy to drive car?
Best advice is to look down the Original Android dev forum based on popularity and user feedback (read past couple of pages).
They're all free. Hell.... if you want, put down 6 hours and try them all!
I personally use CarbonRom + Franco. Kernels is another story but adds a lot to your phone such as color control, headphone gain etc

[Q] AOSP or CM base?

How can I tell if a ROM is AOSP or CM base as the kernels are usually separated as such?
Some devs indicate that, but if they don't then is there a way to tell?
I am particularly looking at this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-4/orig-development/rom-mahdi-rom-2-4-t2581007
Thanks.
Well the most accurate way is to ask if the rom is CM based....
I think Mahdi is CM based, but im not 100% sure

Search and you will find (I put "aosp" in the search box for the thread)
Thanks guys for the quick response. I guess for every ROM there's always someone who has asked the question already.

.....Yeah just stick with stock
We do not allow best ROM/Kernel threads. The question is subjective. Best advice is to head over to the development section try some out and see which best suits your needs.

New ROMS

I just wanted to know if anyone is still working / porting new ROMS for the Note 8.0 any version? Please let me know thanks....
I guess all the popular custom ROMs like CM, PA and the like can be classified as "new". Thus I think that 2yes" could be a correct answer to your question.
Thanks!

Yes, there is. You can fin it in the Original Android Development section. The maintainer is AntaresOne. He has 2 versions. One is the official nighlies and the other is an optimized version.
You can go for either one or, you can choose one of the other roms based on CM12 or CM12.1.

He just not prepared to do your work for you. Your op was incredibly lazy. You could have saved time by just looking first, either on cm website or in the development sections in this forum

Just to clarify, you don't know how to type 'CyanogenMod' into a Google search bar but are competent at flashing ROMs?

My next thread would be to get help for flashing a ROM.
Why would you create a thread? There's hundreds for that exact thing already..I think some reading may be in order

It's because this forum is not a helpdesk. It takes 1 second to type "Cyanogenmod I9505" in Google or in the xda searchbar. Most developers don't like these kind of people in their rom threads but it lowers the quality of discussion dramatically.
It's the same for the question you asked in the CM optimized topic. It's not a helpdesk and it has nothing to do with that particularly rom. You can easily test which rom is more stable for you by flashing it.

My first rom was the 5.0.1 GPE rom, then tried CM12 Optimized builds, SaberMod CM12 and 12.1 builds and I am now currently running Resurrection Remix rom.
The most stable from the bunch (for me) was the GPE rom. The fastest and smoothest (for me) seems to be Resurrection Remix.
All of them ran stable for me, with no bugs or serious problems that could not be solved.
CM12 has reached a final version. The developer works on 12.1 now. CM12.1 nighlies is the most updated of the bunch.
Now, for the flashing. Before flashng you might want to backup your stuff. This requires root. You can use CF-Auto-Root to do it. Warning: This will trip knox.
Just google search "root s4 cf auto root" and follow the instructions in the thread. CF-Auto-Root does not work with all s4 variants, so make sure you have the right one.
If you don't want to backup anything, then you can just skip to installing a custom recovery.
There are 3 to choose from: CWM, TWRP or PhilZ Touch recovery.
I use TWRP. You should be able to flash it with Odin. Google on how to flash a custom recovery on the s4. Even if they are for different android versions, it's basically the same process.

Use it with KT Kernel. It gives you lots of customizability. You may have a green tinting at first, but this can be easily fixed. Settings > Display > LiveDisplay > Color Calibration and set all values there to 50% and hit Ok. Then just change the brightness so the changes take effect. Otherwise you will have to reboot.
Or you can use it with the default kernel.
