Good day everyone,
For the past 10 years, I owned many smartphones but I just returned to the Galaxy S4 Mini i9195i because I like its weight and size.
Since it's an old phone...and many Android versions have been out, which version is best for this Galaxy S4 Plus ?
Which version run with less lags ?
And should I update from the original version (new phone) to this last in one shot ?
Best regards,
IMO the nightly builds Lineage 14.1 are currently the best (and really good) option: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4-mini/orig-development/rom-cyanogenmod-14-1-t3522169

Just returned to 14.1 nightlies from 15.1 and I would also say 14.1 is best.
AICP ran amazingly well on my one too! Not sure where their website is, but I'm sure if you search up AICP Rooting or Custom ROM, it should come up.
If you use gps/navigation a lot then cm13 is the best i find, compared with oreo/nougat are slow on gps lock due to no glonass fix.
My opinion...LineageOS 14.1 nightly works really good...also GPS/navigatin works fine...just missing flip to silent mode...

Hello, changed software numerous times on all my previous phones but never took the plunge with my S5 ...
It has now gotten slow, bit buggy etc...
So want to finally take the plunge... what's the best / fastest most stable rom available now?
Iv'e always liked stock android aswell... Currently running Android 6 standard Samsung / Touchwiz ...
Much help / advice appreciated... thanks
I have tried a fare amount of roms for this device, such as Liquid smooth, AICP, Resurrection remix, Bliss pop, CM13 since the past year.
In my experience cm13 is the the most stable custom rom, but not necessarily the fastest.
However I have been using Exodus since the past week, I have not had any app crashes and is much faster at booting and shutting down my S5, and over all the overall responsiveness is much better. Compared to all the other roms I have used.

Sorry that would of helped XD

Boot time speed may not be noticeable at first few boots but it seems to improve once you being using the rom for a while.

That is what I thought when I found this rom but, they do nightly updates nearly every day, the latest is 14/10/2016 at the moment which you can find here >
They are also the official release as well
Thanks guys, will take a look... does the finger print scanner work on that one?
Just seems a bit daunting there's that many with all differents features etc lol... Seems hard to find a preferably stock android (similar to nexus) or a simple, perfectly working, fast, stable rom...
Unfortunately it does not have a fingerprint scanner as a option but you could always try xposed and download this module here >
I`ve searched high and low and tested many ROM`s with alot for the Note 4 having some minor issue usually with the Camera. Is there a ROM thats as stock as Nougat can be that works with the Note4. I`ve been using the Nokia 6 but im having dreadful performance issue`s with it which leads back to the old saying you get what you paid for. So im contemplating going back to the Note4. Since im accustomed to the Nougat UI i`d like to stick with it.
you can try installing lineageOS
LineageOS has problems with camera being slow and prone to crashing, as do all AOSP ROMs for Note 4 at the moment. It's sad but right now you have to put up with TouchWiz and MM if you want a glitch-free camera.
If you don't mind TW and have snapdragon, I'd like to recommend this ROM.
I can only recommend you go with Resurrection Remix 5.8.5 it`s stock with a lot customization options you can you use and you simply have to install Open Camera instead of using the stock one or i use the Camera from htc version 9.20.974075 i use this as daily driver and you really can go with it
Alternative you can use AICP that would also work pretty good and you can use the stylus
Hi All. Thanks for the reply. I`d tried LineageOS and had issues with it. RR was the closest i got but randomly crashed, Not only that but i had poor battery performance. I`ve purchased a new battery as i think this is the biggest issue with my battery problems. RR M seems to be alot better than RR N
[Review & Question] Short review on Evolution X 4.4(Exynos). What ROM are you using?
Greetings, fellow S8/S8+ users.
I flashed Evolution X v. 4.4 with RZ kernel (non-treble) on my Galaxy S8 (Exynos) a few months ago. I have been getting fluid performance and decent SOT times/battery backup. However, I have noticed sudden FCs/crashes and the screen blacking out and occasional freezing that fixes on its own after 5-10 seconds. The only bug that bothers me is the camera. I have tried a lot of Gcam apks and configs but none of them work smoothly. They have some flaw or the other. Even the stock camera which was replaced by Footej Camera in the last update has bugs, crashes, etc., etc.
I want to try a different ROM now; I am seeking for suggestions & recommendations from other users. Please share your device name, ROM and your experience on it.
Thanks in advance
I tried hades and alexis rom. They have bad camera quality.
Photos look awful in low light so I decided to try side by side test with S8 never rooted. I was shocked by the difference.
Then I flashed stock firmware and compared again. The phoo quality was a lot better but can't match the S8 never rooted. (The comparison was between S8 and S8+ with exynoss variant)
So I ended up using stock firmware with custom kernel. Using this combination since February.
Now I'm wondering to flash Light rom (pie). The curiosity for flashing began from one video in youtube showing Galaxy Note 8 (with pie) flashed light rom with nougat 7.1.1
https://youtu.be/ZjRYMysbq34
So what do you think, is it possible to downgrade to nougat (7.0)custom rom our S8/S8+?
Battery life was awesome as I remember, and feel little nostalgic with the old software.

yes, it is possible to downgrade to Nougat but for that your phone's bootloader has to be downgraded too, which all in all is a big hassle. I would recommend to stick to Pie (9.0), also consider that Pie is much newer, refined and definitely better in more other ways. The performance boost is appealing, but my preference would be Pie. You can try HorizonROM. I used it as a daily without any complaints. I just like AOSP more and hence i parted ways with it.
Happy flashing!
HI. I have an old galaxy tab A 2016 (2gb ram /16gb rom). Model SM-T580. It's currently running Lineage Os 18.1 (android 11). It works fine tough I feel the google keyboard is a bit sluggish (I may replace it). Scrolling on website is a bit sluggish (unfair comparison with my S20FE 120hz screen here). I'll try another browser, though I guess it's more about the Gpu specs of the tablet.
I was wondering which the best rom available for this model is. I use the tablet for internet browsing, youtube videos and basic things (no banking or sensitive info), so I don't think the latest android version is a must in my case, though I would like to run a version which is not too old or outdated.
So, which would be the best and most fluent and smooth rom?
Thank
Any suggestions?
I think the only updated rom is LOS - I however still use the old Bliss build and haven't had any issues with it
I haven't had any issues. I'd just like it to run the best rom in terms of balance between performance and android version.
Hi guys,
an old friend still has no smartphone. So I decided to prepare him my old S5.
Basically it only needs to run social Apps like Signal/Facebook. Mic and Camera should have no issues so he doesn't need my help every week...
Was able to install said Apps on Stock 6.0.1 But the Phone seems laggy compared to modern phones/OS. Saw Videos of LineageOS 18.1 running way smoother.
My question now:
Which ROM is the one I want?
Stock? A stockbased CR? Lineage 18.1 stable? Other?
Thx alot!
Tried a bunch its a little laggy but the unoffical lineage android 12 one has great battery life its just not the best for games, Don't do the Ultra Slimmed Wiz thingy it has trouble even playing videos with VLC, and for stability with games but less battery life the offical version of lineage or crdroid or something.
