Hallo!
I have a ZTE AXON 7 mini , b14 version.
I would like to know whether it is possible to Root the devide without losing the data.
I cant use Titanium Backup and I would love to avoid the reinstallation of all I have there...
Until now I only found tutorials that implies factory restore...
Please help ( at least in removing the doubt)...
Thank you!

Hello all.
I want to root my HTC Legend (Yes, I know there are 1000 post about this on the forum, but please, keep reading because I couldn't find a solution for what I exactly want...)
I have a HTC Legend with the original ROM that Vodafone installs in it. I'm running Froyo 2.2 and my kernel version is 2.6.32.17-g732a780. The Boot-loader version I'm using is HBOOT-1.00.0000.
As I stated before, I want to either root or soft root my phone. For some reason that I still can't understand, it looks like The Legend is more difficult to root than other HTC models... The point of rooting my phone is to be able to make a full backup using Titanium Backup Tool BEFORE making any changes to my existing room (Yes, I want to change the ROM). I've been reading a lot of post where in order to change the ROM I have to first downgrade the phone to Android 1.3 to be able to root it but, What about if I want to make a full backup BEFORE the downgrade? Is there a way to create a full backup with no root permissions? Titanium Backup only works if the phone is rooted...
If I can create a full backup of my phone the way it is right now, I don't mind to downgrade in order to root it and flash it... but I don't want to experiment not having a full backup stored in a safe place...
So far, I've tried Universal Androot 1.6.2 beta 5 with no luck on both: root and soft root. I get the error message: "Failed! No Fu Goo"
I'd really appreciate any help on this matter either by solving the problem or by offering a different approach for what I want.
Thanks in advance to all of you for your time and attention.
What you need is a tool called rvisionary from modaco. With this tool you can achive temp root aka soft root. And then back up with titanium backup. Everything you need to know and the tools requiered can be found here. You have to follow instructions for Already OTA updated with HBOOT 1.01, if you want to root it.
Thanks a lot for your input qzem!
I'll try what you are telling me there and let you know how it went.
No problem . I hope you'll succeed!
Thank for useful answer

Hi,
here's a link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1374339
I suggest you to read it carefully and then I don't think you are gonna need help
In that case may I ask how to make a full system backup ( not app )
Before I start rooting? I dont want to have a brick phone
I recently updated to Nougat, and am now unable to use cf-autoroot. In order to follow the other methods, it seems that I'll need to format my phone to allow TWRP to write SuperSU onto my phone. What are my best options for a fast and efficiently backup/restore of my phone?
I've heard a lot of raving about Titanium Backup, but I'm not sure if it works without root, or if it has any major limitations without it.
I'm wondering if there's any other options, though I would be open to Titanium Backup if I could find a definitive answer.
Thanks in advance to anyone willing to help with this noobish question. :good:
Hi there,
I want to root my A2017U with latest Andrpid 7.1.1 B25 update and therefore need to unlock my bootloader first (except if there is a way to root without unlocking)...
But my problem is that I'm veeeery short on time and can't afford to reinstall and reconfigure all my apps...
So is there a way to "inject" twrp and make a full backup with locked bootloader (maybe with tenfars or tennears tool), then start the unlock process and simply restore the backup afterwards (I wan't to stay on stock rom)?
Because as far as I understood I can't prevent a whole device format to unlock the bootloader... Please correct me if I'm wrong...
Thx folks!
@mods : sorry I posted in wrong section, please move to question & answers
Short answer: No.
Sent from my Axon 7!
I really think you should find the time to do things properly. It might take an hour to set everything up perfectly, but it will save you the hours of frustration of doing something wrong by trying to keep your bl locked and keep your apps. Google will reinstall most of them automatically, so that's convenient..
I'm completely ignorant when it comes to rooting, but I've just finished up my warranty and I'm looking to root & bootload my phone.
I have the Exynos model of the Galaxy S8+, can someone please give me the necessary links to properly inform myself and complete the operation?
PS: I want someone to tell me if this will wipe my phone, because I really want to avoid that, I have so much data and I can't go through the process of redownloading and sorting it all out. Is there a recovery option to avoid losing my data? Please inform me on that, too,
Thank you in advance!

1. There are many threads on rooting one of the better ones is:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/sa...w-to/guide-root-install-twrp-samsung-t3747535
2. If you install TWRP you will have to format the data partition. You will lose all you apps and data in the process.
3. I don't have a recommended backup method myself ( except for twrp ) but you can use something like Google backup service or use smart switch.( PC app ).
