need help!!! moto g4 plus: cant root.. - Moto G4 Plus Questions & Answers

my moto g4 plus using stock ROM of nougat have an issue on rooting process. boot-loader unlocked. twrp installed. when install superSU or magisk all the process completed successfully. but cant boot into system. long pressing power button did nothing .

Did you flash a custom kernel like ElementalX before rooting? Attempts to root on the stock Motorola kernel can cause boot issues.

thanks

Hey, I also want to root my Moto g4 Plus. Can you please tell which version of TWRP, Magisk and Elemental X you used. It will be helpfull for me. Also, I have already installed Feb OTA. Have you already installed that or you were on dec OTA before root?

The set up that works for me is:
Shreps TWRP 3.1.1 32bit https://forum.xda-developers.com/mo...covery-twrp-3-0-2-r3-moto-g4-g4-plus-t3494337
ElementalX 2.0
Magisk 16.0 (or 15.3)
This is on the Feb 1 2018 security patch, but the same set up worked on the Dec 1 security patch too.

Follow the link above, everything is explained in detail there.
If you're planning to dual boot RR with Stock then make sure Stock is the primary rom.
You'll be patching the RR zip to either data slot(takes up space in internal memory) or extSD slot because with Stock there's not enough space left in system partition to boot a 2nd rom from dual/secondary slot.
For any other mods or custom kernels, having aroma installer, patch the zips then flash normally from twrp recovery. In app flashing doesn't support aroma installer zips.

Hi,
I'm on RR 5.8.3 (Official) on Moto XT1643 with Opengapps and ElementalX.
I looking to set RR MM as secondary ROM via dual boot Patcher.
I have checked the Official support thread for dual boot Patcher, but couldn't spot any success stories of RR N + RR MM particular to our device there (unless I've not searched thoroughly enough)
Can someone let me know if they've done that on athene and if so, are there are any specific things to ensure successful installation?
Thanks in advance!

Are you using the most recent version of DBP?
Did you try to use a data slot?
Which ROM are you trying to flash as secondary?
Don't try to update ramdisk.
After failure, can you run this (flash via TWRP): https://dbp.noobdev.io/misc/getlogs/GetLogs-20161128-1.zip

Tested it on latest LOS15 and works fine

Moto pure root question

Since the 7.0 Nougat update has finally been released and installed on my Pure, I'm itching to root it but stay with stock nougat.
My question is ... Do I use the same method developed for 6.0 mm root? Specifically this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x-style/help/rooting-stock-xt1575-marshmallow-6-0-t3353812
Thanks for your help?
No use Magisk. https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/official-magisk-v7-universal-systemless-t3473445 its prebuilt systemless. And will pass safety net. Unless you go xposed where it will fail. I would stay on version 14.0.
Thanks

Rooting stock ROM after Nougat 7.1.1 update

I have successfully updated my XT1601 phone from a rooted Marshmellow with SuperSU to Nougat (non-rooted). However, the guide I used for rooting states that the method doesn't work for Nougat.
Some users say that rooting with Magisk should work, but in the Magisk thread it says that some devices, like Motorola, have a bad f2fs implementation on the data partition that complicates any systemlees installation, and a custom kernel should be used. In case of Moto G4/G4 Plus, the ElementalX kernel is recommended, but this Kernel is not compatible with the G4 Play.
My device does have a data partition with f2fs filesystem but I don't know if it's a faulty one. Does the Harpia actually need a custom kernel? Maybe it doesn't and that's why ElementalX is not compatible? If it does need a custom kernel, which one works? I've checked the squid and somefeak kernels, but none of them explicitly state that the f2fs fix has been implemented.
Well, for anyone with the same doubt, Magisk worked great. It boots, it's rooted, it works. Didn't have to change the kernel after all.

Can't root Lineage OS 17.1?

Brother I have recently installed Lineage OS 17.1.
But now I can't root my phone.I have tried Magisk Root, SuperSU root and also Kingroot. But this device is not rooted. And I have no pc.
Can anyone solve how to root my Lineage OS 17.1 on Samsung Galaxy J500H?
Ask on the applicable thread. There is no need to open a new question about a ROM that is already posted.
You need to also give more info about how you tried to install and what exactly did you do.
A proper but report is needed to troubleshoot
