I'd like to maximize screen real estate. Is there a way to auto hide the navigation bar at the bottom?
For unrooted device you can try https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gmd.immersive
for a rooted device I use https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.zacharee1.systemuituner
what are you looking for is called immersive mode, it can be apply to the bottom or top bar or both

I use Tinted Status Bar on my phone and I love it, and I'd like to use it on my Nexus 7 too, but I don't like that it makes the navigation bar opaque.
Can I use it and still have a transparent navbar? I've turned it off in Android System and Nova Launcher but it's the same.
Hi all
Is there any program that you know that activates a navigation bar in the bottom of the screen in the S5 like in the LG G3, etc? I find the original bottoms very low and difficult to reach with my big hands.. Thanks
I used a xposed module and have the Android L nav bar and status bar.
I need some help!
I have note 4 unrooted.
And i need transparent status bar in full screen.
I m using this app: StatusBar in FullScreen (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jp.jskt.togglestatusbar&hl=en)
to get status bar show up in apps with full screen.
And now i need that status bar in full screen to be transparent.
I need my default bar to be transparent not some artificial bar that is over the default one.
I would like to leave my phone unrooted.
you can use nova launcher, it has the option to make status bar almost transparent
Not sure how or why but I have to drag down from top of my phone to show my status bar. I do have it set to auto hide navigation bar but never set anything to hide status bar. What would cause this ? I have not run any ADB commands to achieve this either.

But what I'm saying is that both the Navigation bar at bottom and the Status bar at top slide away at the same time. I want the navigation bar to hide but not the status bar.
Is there any way to make the gestures navigation bar background transparent in all apps without completely hiding it or having to swipe up first to use it(Fullscreen)? It's a little awkward as that small black/white slit on the bottom which doesn't look symmetrical with the device's rounded corners
I don't think so, no.
