I also faced this problem. I have a solution for this problem but I will only be able to help if you are ready to root your device? I will help you out in that but only if you are ready to root your device(in my opinion you should as it would be out of OEM warranty by this time)!

Do you want to install a custom rom?
For rooting download kingroot 4.9.6 apk Google it
Launch the app
Android may show that it is not safe to install the app but ignore all that.
Click root and it will root your a6k
It will root it successfully
Download root checker app from play store to confirm successful root
Bow download Rashr app from play store and also download TWRP for a6k(2.8.6.1 for KitKat or 2.8.7.7 for Lollipop)
Extract recovery.img file from TWRP zip and flash it via RASHR, but first backup stock recovery from RASHr.
This will root and successfully install TWRP.
Now tell if you want to install a custom rom or stick with stock rom and I will tell you further instructions! Hit that Thanks button!
