So, I have a ZenFone 5 (A500CG) WW running on a stock-based custom Lollipop ROM (Recreated Remix-Leopard). In an attempt to return to KitKat in order to test some app, I accidentally flashed a bad fastboot.img file. All was too late after I pressed the ENTER key. Although the device still booted and could also enter the stock Recovery mode, attempting to boot into fastboot is a fail (stuck on ASUS logo.)
Now, after an attempt to fix it by ADB Sideloading ASUS' stock 3.24.x Lollipop firmware, my device is technically bricked. Trying to boot it only takes me to the "dead droid" screen (Recovery mode). Attempting to boot into Fastboot (whether Power + VolUp or Reboot to bootloader via the Recovery menu) is a failure. I remain stuck at the ASUS logo.
I've seen the tutorial about unbricking the ZenFone 5 without Fastboot and Recovery (even with ruined partitions) but I found it too bothersome. I'm thinking that since I still have the stock Recovery in my pocket, is there a way to at least restore Fastboot via Recovery? Or better yet, a one-mode solution to install stock ASUS firmware without having to downgrade the Recovery menu (because Fastboot is dead.) Thank you for any help.
to enter recovery mode, u can try key combination :
POWER + VOL UP... when your phone's vibrate, pres VOL DOWN until "dead droid" come, u must release all button then press and hold POWER, press VOL UP Once.

I know that's how you get to Fastboot, but if you read my entire post, I wrote that I could not access Fastboot, whether through hardware (Power + VolUp) or through the Recovery menu's "Reboot to bootloader" option.

It's cool.
Yea. I tried doing that. Doesn't work:
I have the Recovery mode for 3.24 Lollipop FW. If I tried to install an older one (i.e. a KitKat stock ROM), it just throws me an error saying that I can only sideload an older FW. However, if I tried sideloading the same 3.24 FW, it just throws me an "Unknown command" upon the sideload reaching about 36%. It's always been like that, I can assure. I am very certain it is not caused by a faulty data connection.
Any way around this? Thanks!

Done, and BAM! Problem solved! Thanks!:good:
I have moto g4 Amazon variant running MPJ24.139-48, I'm unable to receive the latest OTA i.e MPJ24.139-64, I've tried using VPN too. Also I get "No Command" error in recovery. I received the phone in this situation, please take a look at the screenshots and tell me what have been tweaked with it.
Thanks in advance.

To get into recovery from the No Command screen, you hold the power button down and hit Vol Up. The recovery screen should appear.
Also, you can just download the full -64 firmware from various places and flash it with fastboot. Go here: https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=24651430732237342

US hasn't gotten an official OTA. It's only a soak test for some phones on Republic Wireless or some ****.
Anyway, I highly recommend unlocking your bootloader and using custom ROMs because Lenovo is really, really bad with OTAs and security updates.

Not everyone has received it yet.
Update received only those who had -64, but other Amazon Prime versions are still in process. Your update will come. I am waiting on my Amazon Prime G4 as well.
If you can not wait to wait, you can use the fastboot and flashfile.xml and get version -64, after which you will receive an OTA Update Android 7.0; Under One's Responsibility
This is probably a stupid question, but how do I install TWRP itself? All of the guides either assume you're using a package of Dirty* scripts (which apparently do this for you at some point) or that you already have it installed. I'm looking to jump straight past stock-based mods to Lineage 15.1 or 16.0, so I need TWRP installed first. I've unlocked the bootloader the officially-supported way with LG and confirmed the unlock with fastboot getvar unlocked. (I'm not entirely new to android customization, but my last phone was an S5, so many parts are different here.)

Congrats on getting your hands on the one variant that's easy to bootloader-unlock and root. You can find the directions on the LineageOS page itself: https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/us996/install
Installing TWRP is in the second half of the page, and you can get the latest TWRP version over here.
Okay, looks like I've got another problem then: I flash TWRP (have tried several different versions), but going into recovery mode (volume down + power until logo, hold volume down, release power for 0.5 seconds, hold power again) just goes to the stock recovery. fastboot getvar unlocked shows 'yes', and each flash attempt says 'OKAY', so I don't really understand what I'm doing wrong.

Are you actually still getting into stock system recovery or are you just talking about seeing the white screen with the factory reset question? That's normal for this phone as TWRP is hiding behind it once you select Yes twice.
This is the white screen I'm referring to: https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170914/2adf9355b073f3a9c61933f973996241.jpg
So instead of doing a factory reset, it will actually launch TWRP.
Got it. For future reference, there's a subtlety that's never discussed, which I will record here for posterity:
When you do a fastboot flash of TWRP, you cannot boot into stock again or it will wipe TWRP and you'll have to start over. After running the flash command and seeing that it succeeded, you either have to reboot while holding the button combo, or remove the cord and then battery, and then boot while holding the button combo. Then and only then will confirming the factory reset screen ('yes' both times) actually lead to TWRP.
Correct. You either have to reboot straight to recovery without rebooting the system or pop out the battery and start recovery with the button combination to keep TWRP from being overwritten. It was pretty much the same thing with the older Samsung phones using Odin (I also have an S5).

The good news is that you've got the dirtysanta bootloader installed (that's why it's reporting us996) so you should be able to fix it without using LG UP and having to redo most of the process.
Install twrp by doing fastboot flash path/to/twrp.img .then pull the battery when done. Then enter twrp by using to volume key method (hold volume down, press power until the screen turns on, then tap power repeatedly until a menu asking to factory reset appears, say yes (while twrp is installed it won't actually wipe anything).)
Flash a rom (a stock one is here), and magisk.
If you can't use an sdcard to get them accessible to the phone in twrp, in twrp you can go into advanced then sideload and connect to a PC and do adb sideload path/to/rom-or-magisk.zip

to totally back out and bring your phone to totally stock use download mode (from powered off hold volume UP while connecting to the pc). The screen will be still messed up but it will still work on the pc.
Use patched LG UP in partition dl mode to flash everything with a stock h990(ds) kdz.
Once you start using dirtysanta next time (if you decide to try again) be very very careful when using LG UP (easier to just use stock flashabile zip) unless you want to redo the above and flash EVERYTHING back to stock (if you ever flash the aboot partition in LG UP and anything ISN'T stock it will brick you! This mostly applies to partition dl mode since upgrade mode flashes everything, but partition dl mode is the only mode you can even potentially flash things and keep root (but I don't encourage this... its easier and saferto just use zips in TWRP to flash firmware (mostly stock basedrom or so called stock flashible zips tend to also flash all of the firmware except parts needed to keep root. )

But did you use partition dl mode? It alone bypasses the model checks.
Partition dl mode isn't in regular lg up, you need the special patched version I linked (replace the files of your regular lg up with the special version)

Try uppercut then. Use upgrade mode if it works but partition dl mode is missing. Note uppercut asks for lg up version 1.14 . I can't remember what version the patched one is but you may have to reinstall that version instead.
Hi I was looking for a solution to fix my p10 lite that when restarting in twrp or eRecobery it threw black screen and restarted and remained in bootlogo
My device is the Was-Lx3, which was more difficult to give alone since I could not find a system and I could find one for my model and thanks to the fastboot commands it was restored from the factory
Link of the rom that I downloaded and it worked
https://mega.nz/file/DFhziCjI#c1vkVdcvKj3mR_wBb3Kbe_BAA5HUYaCtJVFLkUt9rLk
The steps is:
1 download the rom and unzip the rom
2 leave the device in fastboot mode and run Adb FASTBOOT
3 Flash the .img files I will leave the commands below
fastboot flash boot (drag the file and enter)
fastboot flash cust (same drag and enter)
fastboot flash recovery
fastboot flash system
fastboot flash userdata
ending with the flashing without disconnecting the phone Press buttons button power plus Vol + for 10s and you can enter eRecobery and download the last system you have and ready it will start normal
Even if you have the device without battery, it still works without battery, just do not disconnect the phone and doing all these steps and once the device has been restored, it will start to charge normally. I would like you to give the thank you button if it works if you do not comment below
