Bluetooth volume too quiet for media - Nexus 6P Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi people,
Both my phone nexus 6p and nexus 7 Bluetooth just went quiet when connected. I've had this same problem with another fm car link and thought it was the device, so changed to another.
The sound was working great until just recently.
I've tested my wife's nexus 5x on the car link and her volume is fine.
But in both mine the volume is around 50% and I would usually raise the volume to max once connected. But now the max volume is very quiet like there is another volume set somewhere else?
There is no option to disable volume sync on both in the Bluetooth settings. And I have disabled absolute volume in dev mode.
This looks more like it's a Bluetooth protocol bug or something? I don't really know alot about this kind of stuff.
The usual reset phone, clear cache ... Didn't work only swapping the car link.
I've had this problem on my nexus 5x, 6p and 7 2012.
Weirdly enough, the first car link I had started doing this. So I swapped, now the new one is doing this, so again I tried the first one and now it's working!
Is volume control memorised on devices?

VZW G2 bluetooth audio fixed yet?

Has anyone with a G2 on VZW had problems with bluetooth streaming audio to their car stereo and found a workaround?
I had a G2 for the two week trial and had to return it because I just couldn't get it to work reliably with my car stereo and didn't want to be stuck with it until a fix was available because I need this functionality. It should be said that I've used a Rezound, GS3, Nexus 4, Note 2, GS4 (all stock and ROM'd) with this stereo and never experienced this kind of behavior.
No problem here.
Ok here too.
Edit: Actually, I had minor issues the first time. After I had Bluetooth forget the device and repair, it's been great.

same here...got it working last night. I think the problem was that my stereo was initiating the connection instead of the phone, and once I switched that, been fine since.
Fine for me, connecting to Parrot Mki9100
Would be nice to know specifically what the issue is that you're experiencing. Haven't noticed anything with streaming audio via Bluetooth and I've done it quite a bit.

Every time I connect a phone to the car I initiate the connection from the phone, so I don't think that's it in my case.

There are quite a few problems that I was experiencing:
One was when running TuneIn Radio, I couldn't adjust the volume via the car volume controls. Only the side volume controls on the phone could change the volume coming out the car speakers.
Another was song titles/artists were not displayed when using Google Play Music (the only other app i use besides Tune In to listen to music).
Yet another was when I tried to skip tracks with the car controls it was very hit or miss - mostly miss, as it usually didn't do anything.

The track info not displaying is mostly because of the bluetooth stack on the phone. Its much better in Android 4.3, but obviously thats no help for the G2 (yet)
Using Slacker radio I can reliably skip tracks, but for some reason the pause button doesnt work in my car unless the phone screen is on. My Gnex worked fine with play, pause, skip track, etc, so Im pretty sure its not my car. It *could* be 4.2.2 since I never ran a 4.2.2 based ROM on my Gnex, or it could be something LG-related, or both.
I know a few people returned their phones because of it, but I really think the bulk of the issues stem from the OS itself, rather than something LG may have overlayed. As such, I believe its fixable, and probably will be fixed with third party development going forward. I think I own a copy of TuneIn Pro, so if I get a chance Ill try it out. Also make sure you are using the newest version of the app too, since some apps release fixes (and breaks, even) for bluetooth control stuff.

Bluetooth output is WAY to low!

I got the phone 2 days ago. Rooted, and set up the phone. Went out to the car - a car loaded with DigitalDesign 15" subs, and like 5kW of power to make some noice.
Oooook........!? Connected the Nexus 6P via bluetooth to my Alpine headunit, volume goes from ZERO to 35. Normaly, on volume 28 you just can't sit in the car. Now!? Well, i had it at MAX (35), and we could still talk in the car... what the...!?
Tried with another phone, and crazy sound just like before.. so something is very wrong with the bluetooth output from my Nexus 6P.
Anyone else with the same problem? Same when i try to stream music from spotify to my Marshall speaker. Just sooo low volume...
This will be a deadlbreaker for me. I stream music all days long, and can't have a phone that can't handle it =(
Advices?
Easiest solution is usually the best place to start: Reboot your phone, hook up to your head unit, and make sure the bluetooth volume is cranked on the phone.

OK, my bad, i should havet said that i have tried it..
The phone has been rebooted like ~20 times, and the bluetooth/media volume is maxed.
I'm guessing i'm not the only one with this problem? :/

I would love some more Bluetooth volume. I use Bluetooth ear buds. They are it as loud in the 6p as they are on the g4 I would love suggestions also

Bluetooth Absolute Volume Control in 6.0.1

When I updated my phone to 6.0.1, I noticed that Absolute Volume Control seem to have implemented. It works with my home theatre set and Bluetooth earbud
Can anyone else confirm?

Bluetooth Volume uneven and jumpy?

I've had some issues with newer Bluetooth music receivers on my 6p. I've read about many Bluetooth issues but not this. The issue is that when the media volume is changed on the phone, the result is very uneven and jumpy. It can be like volume 1=low, 2=very loud, 3=slightly louder than 1, 4 and 5 continuing while 6 once again is super loud. Also sometimes changing the volume makes it immediately jump back to something else. This is super annoying and dangerous as max volume suddenly is pumped out on the next to lowest.
This happens on newer Bluetooth music receivers, assuming Bluetooth 4.0. Older receivers I've had for years belonging to a lower Bluetooth version is still problem free. This leads me to believe that the problem is related to the link between android media volume and the actual Bluetooth receiver volume.
Has anyone else had this problem? Can anything be done about it or is it simply a bug that Google has to fix? Nexus 6p, v6.0.1 stock with some xposed stuff.
Yes. I have that problem. Can't imagine we're the only ones. Am looking for a google complaint page, with no luck.

This must be all 6ps, can't imagine just a few being affected. What I have noticed is that it only regards Bluetooth 4.x enabled devices. Below 4 is OK so it's just the newer stuff that screws up. Strange though you're the first noticing it.

Bluetooth Volume Sync

I've connected different Bluetooth devices. Each time I connect a device, the volume level is the same as the previous device. I though android 9 remembered the level for each connected device.
Is this a bug or am I misunderstanding how this feature works?

Glad you asked as I was wondering something along these lines too. My LG V30 remembers BT volume based on connected device and it's only on Oreo. No idea why this phone isn't doing it. Very annoying as I crank the BT volume in my car but I obviously don't want that for headphones!

That's exactly what I am dealing with between the car and headphones.
I've read this is a stock feature in Android Pie. Oreo had it as a feature from some manufacturers. I really hope OnePlus did not remove it.
