Using Odin 3.12 and latest 930T firmware
I can flash older stock firmware which makes me think it's not the bootloader?? I've done this exact conversion a couple times in the past on other phones without any problems at all.
Error Message Fused 5 Binary 4 .
Phone is officially unlocked and will allow calls with the T-Mobile sim, but won't allow LTE/ Data due to the bands being locked.
I successfully flashed 930T Modem (CP), but it didn't change anything
Anyone?

Your second post, but at least wait a day... And this has been covered numerous times.
Your binary 5 issue means that you can only odin current firmware for the sprint version.
You may be able to odin the latest sprint firmware, install the u modem, and that may unlock your bands.
But basically, you are stuck with sprint firmware until the others catch up

I appreciate the response... I was hoping that it was something else I was missing. I can flash firmware from Sprint back to August. U firmware was unsuccessful before, but I'll try again.

Check the last 5 digits of the firmware. It should have a 4 or 5. Your error message states that it has the newer bootloader.
On the train now, but you could go back between binary 2 and 4 with a pit file. Search this forum or the sprint s7 edge one.

My 930T modem on the phone (the one I flashed) starts with a 4... build number on the phone is 930P and last 5 starts with a 5... again I really appreciate it! I'd read there was no way to know which bootloader was installed via a code on the phone. I hadn't found any info on bootloader release dates so I was working backwards installing firmware
I'll read up on the pit file also!

Check out this thread
My phone is on the U firmware, but I remember using this method about a year ago. You can try to ODIN the PE1 firmware with the PIT file. It let you go from b4 to b2, not sure if it will work for b5 to b2...in theory it should, but you who knows. The most important part is adding that pit file.
So you install PE1, then you can install the U firmware
Worst case scenario is that you probably just have to reinstall the firmware you have now.
Please let me know if this ends up working.
Flashed newest 930P firmware and switched out with newest 930U modem... bands still locked. Everything uploaded smooth through Odin, just no change in service... messed around with VPN settings a bit and tried a 4g app.. still no data. Haven't tried a pit file yet

Nothing I've tried will unlock the bands for data either. I can live with 930P software for now if I can get full access to the device.

Tried it both ways with and without.
I'll try to mess around with the bands tonight via your link. I appreciate it... prior to this bootloader even the bands weren't an issue for me... I've spent way more time on this phone than it's worth lol. The old man I bought it from spent over $800 leasing this thing. Frustrating that Sprint thinks they can stop him from switching carriers now that the phone is his.
Had some time... I enabled band 17 (it wasn't before).... still no LTE. I've gotta find which bands are needed in my area I guess. I have access to all of them via the thread tutorial you posted. ... feels like I'm almost there!
I don't think it's the bands that are the issue. All the bands I need are checked/unlocked already. From reading I don't get the impression that there is a best "in my area" band. ALL the LTE bands listed on T Mobile's site were already unlocked in the phone. ??

Ah. I totally missed that. I have a buddy who just switched to tmobile from Sprint with the S7 and was hoping for a method for them to get tmo firmware on it. I guess it's just a waiting game now

So on my wife's sprint s7, she setup finger print scanner for lockscreen. But some how got locked out. So all it would ask for is the password which she didn't remember either. So my only option was a factory reset. I did that in recovery but when it went thru setup, it wanted the Gmail associated with that device which was her email. It wouldn't take that either. So came down to needing to odin stock firmware. I forgot the other day her phone updated to PJ2 firmware. Well all I came across online was stock firmware for PF2. I used the newest odin and filled all slots with appropriate files and flashed. Get nothing but failed. Assuming it's because I couldn't downgrade firmwares. My total fault. I haven't odined or rooted my phones since the note 5. Where it was just one file to fill in on the ap slot on odin. So basically her phone is a paper weight because when I reboot it, it goes thru setup but once it gets to the point of connecting to network, it just wants to sit there. Does anyone have any suggestions? Is there another firmware I can download to get my wife's phone working again? I couldn't find PJ2 Stock firmware anywhere online. Please help!!!
Try the unlocked firmware. PG9 was the unlocked version just prior to PI3 (the latest unlocked version). This will allow you to have hotspot without rooting.

I ended up flashing G930U API3 firmware and I got it working again because it has the new bootloader like PJ2. I wonder if I can go from that to PH7? I would really like to stay on a Sprint firmware

I totally screwed up my last post. I copied it from notepad and most of it didn't copy over, which I just now realized after reading your quote of my post. I had written exactly what you ended up doing - flash the unlocked firmware and use Shortcut Master Lite app to enable hotspot. I also got the versions wrong. The versions I posted are the sprint firmware, not the unlocked. Been a long day. Did you get hotspot working?

Unfortunately when you switch to/from the sprint firmware to/from the unlocked firmware, your phone's data will be wiped, so essentially factory reset. So you would lose hotspot if you flashed back to the sprint firmware from the unlocked firmware. You could root, but the root for this phone on the sprint firmware is tricky and unstable. And I'm pretty sure from what I've read in the rooting thread that the last couple of versions of the sprint firmware (PH7 and definitely PJ2) cannot be rooted. I think the last sprint firmware version that you can even get root on is maybe PE1, and I don't think you can downgrade to that version any more because of the new bootloader.

I'm pretty sure you can. I had done it from an earlier unlocked version to an earlier sprint version. I think as long as the bootloader of the sprint firmware you're trying to flash back to is at least as new as the bootloader of the unlocked firmware you're coming from, it should work. But I haven't done it myself with these newer firmware versions. I bet after your wife uses the unlocked version for a while, she won't want to go back to the sprint version. I've never looked back since I tried the unlocked firmware. The only reason I did flash back to sprint firmware was just to see if it could be done. I immediately flashed the unlocked firmware back onto my phone. I really hate what sprint does to this phone with all the sponsored apps and sprint apps they dump on there, and most you can't remove or disable.

this odin writes to userdata? So it allows full carrier switch? That's huge if true
so how does this work when its time to get an ota update? do you need to flash back to att and then flash to the unlocked equivalent or can you just take unlocked ota's to update the phone?

You do not have to ODIN back. It will update normally. It was pulled from a US Cellular Device which was sold unlocked. I have the Canada version also with the built in Caller ID to identify unknown numbers with the Samsung Smart Call feature. and you do not have to program the APN. Yall let me know if you want me to upload it along with instructions.

Have tried flashing over it with this ROM and a Verizon ROM.
Both flash worked completely n ODIN but when the phone reboots, it is still Sprint.

I have the Verizon variant and downloaded the Canadian version, and flashed that over completely the regular CSC, not the home_CSC. This was using the prince comsey or whatever version of Odin, and I let it reboot after. During the setup I did the same thing the other guy mentioned where you only set a pin, and select yes to boot the device with your pin. Once I got through the setup I turned on dev mode, and flashed my stock FW, which was Verizon. I selected all files and chose the home_csc from the Verizon package along with the VZW AP, BL and CP files.
Flashed them all over and let the device reboot. Once it turned on it took a minute or so to get LTE and service in general but it worked.

I been on the phone with AT&T trying to get my imei whitelisted. I told them it was an AT&T phone. Running stock AT&T software. If I am running this software all my updates coming from AT&T now?

Someone said to add fota to apn using shortcut master lite to get OTA from ATT if you don't get OTA updates normally...but yeah if all is stock and working cohesively you should get OTA from them. If you are on unlocked and you just flashed csc and USERDATA files you may still get from Samsung...you just got ATT to whitelist the imei...
Some of the unlocked updates have came from carriers...though (it's kind of odd I looked at where my SPR SM-N950U1 came from and it was the same server that the Sprint s8+ updates came from...then I went back to just XAA and checked for the XAA SM-N950U1 and it was a Samsung server...so you may be getting ATT no matter what once your imei is rightfully registered...
All firmwares for SM-N950U and SM-N950U1 are located at link in OP....for those looking for Firmware

Not sure, I haven't looked....
My zips include BL, AP, CP, CSC, HOME_CSC, and USERDATA...
This one is ATT...
It is compressed individually...and includes a note to use new Odin
So I just flashed the latest att firmware on my Verizon note 8 and just trying to get volte and wifi calling to work but no luck. I've read the combanation file is need to "carrier switch" but none of the combanation files seem like they go with the latest pie firmware? And help and or pointing in the right direction would be greatly appreciated
My Note 8 was purchased from ATT, then I unlocked it using a service, then I switched to T Mobile years later. When I switched to T Mobile, the firmware updated itself to T Mobile after I booted with a T Mobile SIM.
Now, I am trying to flash it to U1_XAA so that I can gift it to someone in China. However, after factory resets, even from the recovery menu, it fails almost immediately during flashing. Would you please guide me on how to get this flashed to U1_XAA? Or is it ok just to leave it the way it is (U_TMB) and send it out?
Thank you!
P.S. this is with Android Pie, since I got the update while I was still on ATT. I tried flashing with the patched Odin as well, same thing...
I recently acquired a G935P to repair my old phone that had a bad sim card reader. I used the motherboard from the Sprint phone because i'm not skilled in the ways of micro=soldering items. Come to find out Sprint is particularly difficult because they are the only carrier that has upgraded their S7E's to binary 5. Now I have after various attempts, successfully rooted the phone with no issues, seems to run fine albeit some lag (due to the engboot) but I was inquiring that since I have root can I install the U firmware and how would I go about doing that. Thanks in advance!

As long as the U firmware is binary 5, if it is not, you will get an error in odin.

Yeah found that out, lol....I been trying different variations of firmware/pit/backups/combination firmware to maybe and try to get pass this so I can use this phone with my verizon plan with no success, the closest i've come is to have it rooted accessing the hidden menus and changing different settings any ideas?

Is the phone sim unlocked? You may have to call sprint to get it unlocked first. Until Verizon (or the g935u) gets binary 5, you will be unable to change your firmware, with the exception of the sprint binary 5 firmware.

It was recently unlocked but it consistantly showed the device receiving the signal as roaming, i believe because it was only internationally unlocked? and it did not pick up the 4G bands, only reaching normal 3G speeds and in my attempts to flash the U firmware I somehow managed to undo the procedure :/ I have the MSL code and am contuining with trying different settings to see if I can at least get the phone to accept the SIM card again.

Have you tried to manually add the carrier info? Sometimes when using different roms you have to change where you are connecting to because the rom defaults to another carrier.

Yes sir, I have to access the hidden menu to get into the data profiles but even when i get there, it won't show the APN's set for the device because 'user is not authorized' and when i add the verizon apn information and hit save, it doesn't go through.

hi guys, i wanted to make sure i understood what i was reading. I have in fact rooted with the the sm-g935p with 5 binary, (the recent root on Godpowers post for root, you guys probably already know that, sorry if Im wasting your time)anyways, so if im reading correctly, I still cannot crossover to the "U" firmware? And if I may ask, what was the advantage to the U firmware, and am i able to run xposed with binary 5 BRA1? Any details you guys could shoot my way would be great. Thanks!

I believe once you achieve root you should be able to run xposed, i'm not entirely sure on that but from what I understand it's possible. The U firmware is just devoid of any carrier bloat and allows you to run a more pure version of the samsung firmware, someone correct me if I'm wrong.

On older Samsung phones, when the bootloader was upgraded, you could 'odin' the previous firmware. It did this by not flashing certain components of the tar file. For example, you could go from a binary 5 nougat to a binary 4 marshmallow firmware, but the bootloader would still remain on binary 5... however, you just installed the binary 4 firmware.
Not sure if this would let you go to the u firmware, but may let you rollback to a binary 4 firmware. Haven't tried it on my s7 since I'm stuck with sprint until October... so no point at this time.
Is the new Oreo firmware from various cell companies binary 5?

Haven't done it in a while since it was on an older phone, but you use a program called z3x Samsung tool pro. It will allow you to only flash certain aspects of the file. You may or may not be able to cross over from p firmware to u firmware with it.

Hello I bought this Galaxy S8 SM 950U from this lady off letgo. Anways I just made sure it turned on which it did, and had no cracks, so I was trying to make it fairly quick because i had to drive to her home and walk in, and didnt want to be there long, so i get home clear the data from my new phone ans it asks for her google account. Ive never done anythung like this, but i looked up what to do and flashing the phone was an option ao i chose that one. I used oden and i guessed flashed some kind of combination binary because odin at the end of the download, it was a sucess. So i turn it on and its been stuck in Factory Binary mode. The original was andriod 7.0 G950USQS2BRB1 and now it is G950USQU5ARG4. Im so glad i wrote down the oringinal, but please help. I watched tutorials on how to flash the frp using odin and it seemed pretty simple but i guess not and im definitely stuck and have no idea what to try next could someone please help me
See that 5 in the firmware. That is the bootloader revision. Now you.have to down load a equal revision stock firmware and flash that over the binary
Btw if your area is like mine. Let go is a joke and full of junkies get receipts and addresses and signatures on all phone. I did get me a nice ps4 a few days back.
Mr. Mad Scientist don't mean to bug but I'm having the same problem right about now except my s6 was running a 7.0 G920VVRS4DQK1 And i downgraded to G920VVRU4AOJ1. So you're saying that now i have to find a ROM WITH A build number that has a 4 IN the same spot and flash that file by itself with Odin and that would put my phone back to normal how it should be....? Need help, please help

Yea your on a rev 4 bootloader. Any Rom with a 4 in that location will work
Thank you very much bud I really appreciate that I've been stuck for 2 weeks. And I'm taking a wild guess here but i load the boot into the BL SECTION OF ODIN correct? Weird thing is that last night i flashed a boot loader honestly i forgot the number of it and I'm not near my laptop but it did stop marking that SW check fail rev 4 binary 1 error and when i restart my phone it goes to factory nice still.,.... Now it's in factory mode but it reads boot completed when it gets to the home page. Last thing, i did get a "write error message" that failed my flash... I'm kinda even more lost now
Same problem as Morgenmoles!

5th digit from far end is a 5. So either 5 or 6 would be your best bet. With Odin 3.13 I always recommend the lasted what's your carrier and I can try to find one for you later if you haven't yet

just my $0.02, but keep in mind that if you flash firmware with a 6th gen bootloader, you cant go back to anything with the 5th gen. The G950U models arent rootable, so i just always go with the most recent version

you cal also flash the unbranded firmware on it, but by doing so, you will ditch the at&t firmware which has proven to be difficult to find. Not impossible, but difficult. I flashed the U1 firmware on my S9 (i know you have an S8, but theyre virtually identical) and its flawless
