I just bought this Samsung Galaxy Halo Model J727AZ from Cricket and everything works fine but the Ok Google voice response to a question. When I ask a question it answers ok with data but the voice is garbled beyond belief. I followed the Google instructions but they won't work with this phone.. I tried the language and input settings but I can't find the answer. I tried the Samsung experts and they said its a Google problem and as you can imagine Google says it is Samsung. I would appreciate any thoughts on the subject. Thank you

First, I would like to say "THANKS" to the community for all their hard work here. Because of everybody's hard work. I was able to go from stock non root 2.1 eclair. To using superclean 2.6 w/voodoo kernel with tether fix. and add the Nitrodark theme v1.1. There are a lot of good write ups that help out us noobs a lot. Im so amazed by what my phone has now evolved in too. I cant stop customizing it now lol. So I just want to give everybody a real big "THANKS"
Secondly i have a issue that i cant seam to find a fix for. I have looked hard to find a fix but i haven't found one for the fascinate yet. The problem is with the dialer or more specify the lack of the Verizon voice mail app (blue tape looking icon). From my understanding. It was replaced by Google voice service. That's why the voice mail icon in lower left corner of the dialer goes to Google voice and not to Verizon voice. Does anybody have a fix or the files i need to replace Google voice with Verizon voice mail.
Also, i already looked in room manager and only found verizon visual voice mail and not the reg voice mail.
In the latest update for NitroDark (v2.0) There is a specific download for the Verizon voicemail dialer.
Awesome. Ty, ive been waiting for 2.0 but now theres also a verizon voicemail fix dl there too. Double bonus! Thanks again.
You can also just hold down the 1 key to get you my carrier voice mail. Pretty simple workaround
If anyone here had a problem, such as myself, where when you ask google now voice search a question, but it doesnt reply to you through speech, the fix that worked for me is setting the default language of the phone to English Us, and then a synthesized voice will start answering you quetions, such as will it rain tomorrow? =)
I have been searching for a solution to have visual voicemail (VVM) on my Nexus 4. A lot of you have had success with Google Voice. Some users do not or cannot use the Google Voice option, so here is another solution by using YouMail and it's actually quite easy.
Click on the "phone" icon; click the 3 small squares; click on settings; scroll down to Call forwarding, I entered +13478966996 for Forward when Busy, Forward when unanswered, and Forward when unreachable.
Then login to your youmail account on the browser and have them send you a test to confirm it is working. I hope this helps someone and sorry if this is already on here. I did a search and couldn't find any Google Voice alternatives.
Thanks!
Thank you! I had been searching for a replacement for visual voicemail when I switched to Straight Talk. This app seems to work well so far. Just to be clear, the call forwarding settings that need to be changed are located in the settings for the stock phone/dialer app, not the settings for the phone.

Thanks..! Worked like a charm. Not I have visual voice-mail.
Im using a at&t galaxy note 2 on straight talk and cant get youmail to work, goggle has always worked flawlessly. But I would love to get youmail working.
*Update* I got youmail working, first initall setup had to be on carrier's data, then I switched back to wifi after setup was all completed. Now I have visual voicemail working on pageplus with at&t galaxy note 2.

Hello there everyone,
when I ask my google voice stuff like what's the weather going to bve like, it does pick it up, but it doesn't respond, it just searches what I said on google, same for google now. Language is set to Dutch, however the language of my Voice search thing is said to english. It picks up everything I say like it should pick it up, the problem is it just ALWAYS searches.
Any help?

There are certain keyword type questions that will cause it to reply to your question in a voice response like 'google define (whatever)' will get an audio response with a definition. I don't know all of the triggers that get audio responses but define is one of them. It's google now with audio that you are asking about, not google voice which is a separate app that does voicemail, etc through google..
Hey all,
Excuse my n00b but, I had Google Voice replacing my Verizon Vmail on my Galaxy Nexus. I just switched from the Gnex to the G2 and I am keeping my same number as the Gnex. Do I have to do anything to configure Google Voice to work or by default will LG's Voice Mate take over all of the vmails? I saw there was a similar thread but it was asking a slightly different question.
If Voicemate is defaulted, is it the same method to switch to Google Voice (dialing the codes on the phone?)
Thanks in advance,
-steve
What you need to do is go to the Verizon website for your account and set up busy/no answer forwarding to your Google number. It will work fine from there.

Just download Google Voice from the play store. It will automatically setup call forwarding during the initial setup. You only have to do I once. Then you can remove Google Voice, or keep it. Whatever.

thanks!
Just a friendly reminder, this should've gone in the Q&A forum, not here. Your post will probably be moved, and you may have a grumpy moderator on your tail.
sorry about that, i'm new to the g2 forums, my first thought was to go to Verizon specific. but noted for the future!

It would if there was a section for it but this is things in development only. :good:
Yea everything gets lumped together except Rom developments. There isn't really a General Verizon forum. So just stick to General, Q&A, and Themes and Apps.
Have fun though and welcome to XDA.

I had to setup call forwarding again on my account. I think VZW turned it off when I upgraded phones, as GVoice stopped storing voicemails after switching phones. Setup from within Voice wouldn't work for VZW, had to dial the following numbers:
*71<google voice number>
*90<google voice number>
*92<google voice number>
Replace the <google voice number> with your account's number and you'll get a pop-up dialog asking to confirm the call forwarding.

I got it working fine on my last G2. Broke the screen and got a replacement and now everything works except my messagesc aren't going to my voice account. They are going to my Verizon voicemail. I've set up voice like I've always done. Whenever I try to dial the numbers on the OP it just takes me to the Google voice, meaning it's already set up. I don't know. Iv haven't rooted this phone yet (looking for a computer that works), but once iv do I'll just restore my backup but until then it's annoying.
I can call using my coffee number but messages go to Verizon. I had the same problem on my first phone but forgot how I fixed it. It was also running a highly customised ROM though. It's much easier to have my messages go to voice. As of now I have no visual messages
