root with no pc?? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions & Answers

Is there any way to root this device with no PC? I do not have access to a computer. I am running the android oreo pre release

I don't think Android Oreo even has a root yet.

CWM recovery and OTA updates

I posted this in the Q &A forums, but no answers were gained. Maybe there's more visibility here.
Will the N10 by able to get and install OTA updates from Google if we're running the stock ROM/firmware with a custom recovery (CWM) ?

OTA updates require the stock recovery. However, it's usually only hours after an OTA is out that a dev will repackage the OTA to use with CWM.
Also you could probably get someone to post the actual update URL, and then maybe temp boot stock recovery and then sideload

Huh?
Actually, you could install OTA updates using CWM or TWRP... but the OTA update may overwrite the recovery after a reboot...
And With bootloader unlocked, can i update by ota? Keep root updating by ota?
Now i have root and stock recovery
I flashed via cwm just fine. Root was maintained.

No i cant i already install the drivers and all that stuff i think something is wrong with my pc i will go to a ciber
once you install your custom recovery you can flash the latest version of SU before you flash a rom. as long as the superuser zip sucessfully installs there shouldnt be a problem. viola you now have root via recovery. this is how i actually rooted my phone and i have had zero issues from day one....keep in mind this is not really one of the supported methods of rooting so if something goes wrong make sure you know how to troubleshoot.

New lollipop bootloader twrp flashable?

I'm currently running a rooted kitkat based custom rom (purity). I'll eventually want to run a custom lollipop based rom once the dust settles a bit, but don't want to revert back to stock for the ota, and don't want to manually flash a stock 5.0 rom either.
Since I'll need the new bootloader eventually, is there a twrp flashable file for the new bootloader available which I can flash now in preparation for future 5.0 based roms?
Don't have a decent usable pc handy, so if I could do everything straight from the manta itself that would be great.
(crap, wrong forum, sorry)
I haven't seen one, but if you download the image you should be able to use flashify. I have not tested though, so be careful.

Do you have to update the bootloader from kitkat

I'm looking for a flashable zip too! I had problems using flashify and my Mac doesn't detect my N10 in fastboot mode

[Q] i cant flash any roms. help!

ive had the AT&T d800 for a year and a half now. i used ioroot to root the phone, and autorec to have a custom recovery. whenever i try to flash a rom, it always fails without doing anything. i dont want to go through the trouble to revert the phone back to stock jelly bean just so i can flash roms again. how can i flash roms without fully restoring my phone back to jelly bean?
Current Version
Android: 4.4.2 Kitkat
ROM version: Stock D80020k
TWRP: 2.7.0.0
tired of stock always being buggy...
Did you heard of autorec? It restores jellybean bootloader which allows you to flash roms which still uses the old loki method without the need to restore back to antthing else. Btw I also suggest to update recovery. If you do autorec, choose the right version for your model.

Yes just flashed the bumped recovery. If you would ever upgrade to the kk bootloader for some reason like custom lp stock roms then you have to have an bumped recovery else you will get an lg security error

TWRP Nandroid Restore problem

Hi all,
I have a KLTE Galaxy S5 G900i.
I successfully upgraded it to MM, rooted and installed TWRP 3.0.2.2 test2.
Prior to doing this, I made a nandroid backup of the previous Lollipop OS using TWRP 3.0.0.0.
I need to restore this backup temporarily, but when I do, it bootloops.
Do I need to Odin Flash TWRP 3.0.0.0 before restoring the nandroid backup? Do I need to wipe/format any partitions?
Thanks,
Donald.
Any custom roms are still using lollipop bootloader. You can Odin back in the meantime

Thanks for your reply, but I'm not sure what you mean??
Odin back??
Cyanogenmod are still using lollipop file systems and marshmallows are completely new. There a few carriers are still on the rollout once that's done cyanogen will merge the latest bootloader to their roms. To answer your question you need a stock 5.1.1 from sammobile and flash through Odin and root.
