Update with custom kernel - Moto G4 Plus Questions & Answers

I have rooted my Moto G4 Plus using Elemental X kernel. today I got the February update. should I install the update?

fastboot flash the December 2017 patch stock ROM and then before customizing it, take the Feb 2018 ota. After this, root and do other stuff. The stock ROM is available in the Guides section of the Moto G4 plus XDA forum and the thread is maintained by rajatgupta1998. All instructions are in the same thread.

This thread got moved right?

MOTO G
Total XDA Android Development Repository
Hello community! Welcome to the Repository of ROMs of the MOTO G Android Development Forum.
First of all, which ROMs are included here? Well, I just searched and chose the active threads (even if the ROM doesn't have any recent updates, the thread should at least remain active, with constant feedback from users and devs) but this isn't a must. But for no activity in the thread for at least two months will not be listed in the Index/Repository. Please remember, the most important thing is to read the thread of the ROM that you choose, take a look at the benefits, user reviews, bugs, FAQ, etc. and then, flash it.

You shouldn't really include that, it's dead in the water since there are other working ones
There is a similar thread.
I think the faux kernel is a kernel not a recovery lol

Motorola official kernel source available

Hi developers,
A happy news for all of you.. Motorola have officially announced the kernel source of our moto g 2nd Gen.
Motorola is offering the initial kernels for the Moto X
2014 (codenamed "Victara") and the Moto G 2014
(codenamed "Titan") as both a standard browsable
Github and a downloadable ZIP or TAR file. Check the
source below for the individual links. Motorola should
post updated versions if and when new software is
released, and the Android 5.0 update will certainly need
a new kernel.
For more details, check below link :

It's a 7 days old news now. Also this is already posted here and also here (closed)
And there is one custom kernel released also

upgrading from 6.0 to 7.0

Hello everyone I'm trying to go from 6.0 to 7.0 but I keep having so many issue with all ROMs I try crashing what are the proper steps to upgrading
This should be in the q&a thread
They're probably crashing due to the updated vendor and other images. I always update manually with Heisenberg's guide in the general forum. It's stickied. I would update manually with fastboot and then flash a custom 7.0 ROM if you wish.
