For future reference when someone tries to help, its best not to disrespect them....
I have the i9500 and all i did was flash CWM.zip using ODIN on my PC.
Then you can flash superuser.zip in CWM. Piece of cake!
Do you need a how to guide for that or do you know what I mean?
Does this method work on new kernels with the root-block thing?

To check version, go to Settings>More>About Device
I'm not sure about rooting part, since mine is quadcore version and the process might be different

I wouldn't use either of those methods. They require too much transferring between PC and device. Which is where incomplete flashing and hard bricking occurs.
I would just flash CWM using odin... Then you can do what ever you want i.e. flash super user, or a kernel or custom ROM that has root.

If your boot loader is locked (Like the AT&T version) then you will need to unlock that first, then root.

Excuse the noob question. How do I know if my bootloader is unlocked. I bought my phone in an airport in the duty free and is sim unlocked, but I dont know if the bootloader is unlocked.
In case it is unlocked, then the new cofface CWM should be able to root my phone?
Thanks in advance

Is it the i9500? Then thats unlocked.
The i9505 is mostly unlocked unless its from AT&T...
Yes you should be able to just flash CWM using ODIN, and you are good to go. If the bootloader is locked then the flash using ODIN wont work. Thats all. Nothing will happen. (it wont stuff up your phone)

All good. You are set to go!
Take a look at my youtube channel (link in the signature)
I've done a look at a few things to fix the S4 octa. Like a kernel that fixes zRam issues and a ROM review on both the OMEGA ROM and wanam ROM...
What are you saying is we really don't need any PC to root this? and what's ODIN?
When i root my HTC there's specific 'HTC only' files called HBOOT, Unlock_code.bin through HTCDev.com website
is ODIN specific 'Samsung only' files as well?
I know I've root my Samsung Galaxy Young S5360 but that thing's already come pre-rooted, just like my Galaxy Note 2
(forgot to add both to my sig, maybe after rooting s4 -.,-)
Also, how to unlock Samsung's bootloader in general? It doesn't need SamsungDev.com website or such right? :silly:

ODIN is a tool that you use on your PC.
You plug your S4 into your PC via USB and then ODIN adds the clockwork mod recovery files to the system.
- This is a video i created on how to root the galaxy Note. So for your S4 its exactly the same, except the file you are flashing is different.
Link: Kernel to flash...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1985575&d=1369329536
Once you have flashed this kernel, then when you reboot it will say you are not rooted, do you want to root. So you just say yes, and then it will reboot and you are done...
There's no ODIN for S4 octa core version?
1.85 is for GT-I9505... :silly:
I don't know why making a great deal out of it it's very simple you can use cofface method HERE and then goto odin 3.07 which does support i9500.... set his file in the pda section and flash it (of course when you are in download mode) thats about it, goto recovery and use the root option there is a menu for rooting in there.
these are the files use them http://d-h.st/WM2
don't forget to stop by his thread and hit the thanks button.

I've been following this thread and have used your method hamdogg and don't think I'm rooted. It seemed too easy. How can I check?? I tried an app that says I need root access, and it didnt work. So am I right to assume that I am not rooted?
Thanks..

Hi Gregg. If you flashed the kernel then you will need to boot into CWM, then select 'reboot'. Once you have done that it will prompt you to 'root'.
Thats it... easy. Then your apps that require root will work.

Hello and welcome to the XDA Forums,
I have the same problem and I used the method's mentioned here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2516311
I suggest you keep your eyes open for a update on the Samsung Galaxy Core sub-forum since there is no Samsung Galaxy Core Plus sub-forum
root sm-g350
only working method for getting root was the tool Kingo Android Root (http://www.kingoapp.com/). SuperSU installed from market
SuperSu installed from market and working, but now I have the problem that there is no cwm or twrp recovery to flash a customrom.
making a cwm by my own failed -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2132672

Hi, I have the same problem and I want to ask if you could choose the Gandalf exploit option because I downloaded framaroot 1.8.1 and under install SuperSU I can only choose Aragorn so I am a little confused.
It would be really helpful if you can tell me briefly what you did to root your Core plus, thanks in advance.
as I already have written in the post above -> I tried all known methods for samsung galaxy core plus (oneclickroot, framaroot 1.8.1 ....) but the only working solution in my case (SM-G350, Android 4.2.2, Baseband G350XXUAMKB) was the android root tool from kingoapp - now my device is rooted but there is no working CWM or TWRP for this model. I am working on an CWM for it but I stuck at compiling
samsung galaxy core plus
Greetings.
I downloaded the framaroot app and when I select the option to install SuperSU it only appears the aragorn exploit... And that one doesn't work... do you have any idea of how can I root my phone?
It would be great to know if there is a method to root the Samsung Galaxy Core Plus SM-G350 and SIM-Unlock it (for example with a tool like GalaxSim, which does not work without root access)
Thanks a lot in advance. =)
Any updates to this issue?
cwm
Porting CWM to this device shouldn'd be that hard... I'd guess that the Galaxy Trend Plus comes with pretty much exactly same hardware and we could modify the CWM port for it or even flash it directly to our device. I'd try modifying the Trend's CWM but I'm afraid I'd just brick the phone...
From there on we could just flash SuperSU and our device would have root access.
EDIT: PS. PLEASE DON'T USE KINGO APP
It'll send your IMEI to chinese servers (apparently it's a bad thing, dunno why) plus install MALWARE on your phone and maybe on your computer too.

up!
Hello everyone! I am new and a noob here. I have upgraded to a 5.1.1 Lollipop firmware. My phone was still carrier locked so I started looking up threads on the internet on how to unlock it for free, and came across a kingroot then region unlock solution. I used kingroot then downloaded supersu and installed that. After it finished installing, it said a reboot was necessary so I rebooted. Upon rebooting it said custom in the bootlogo then popped up with a big triangle that said Security Error: This phone has been flashed with unauthorized software & is locked. Call your mobile operator for additional support.
After much tinkering with installing Odin and downloading firmwares, I am still in the same boat. I believe this may be because I (stupidly) enabled reactivation lock because it sounded helpful in case my phone was stolen. This is now locking the firmware down and every time I try to install a stock firmware (4.4.4 or 5.0.2 as these are the only ones available on Sammobile for the SM-G530H) it says r/l enabled cannot install kernel without r/l or something to that effect. That is why I think the reactivation lock is messing me up. It also doesn't help that I upgraded to 5.1.1, as I believe that makes it harder to install a stock firmware, especially an older one.
Thanks for reading and if anyone knows anything that can help, I would greatly appreciate it! Thank you.
bumpity bump bump..
anybody?
this is what happens when you try to replace king user/king root with supersu. same thing happened to me, totally bricked. And I didn't backup first
Never found a way to restore it, so I sent it to samsung and got another one, backed it up, and did king root, and manually switched to supersu.

how did you send it to them and they fix it? i figure they wouldn't help because it was a user error in which you tried to flash which voids warranty or whatever /:
I fixed these phone all day for the same exact problem. Call me 347-210-8466 and I will tell you where to ship the phone and have it repair and shipped back to you in 24hr. For only $45.00 return ship is free.
No need to pay to get phone fixed. Follow this post. Somewhere along the flash, it will display message that kies is not compatible with phone, click ok and it will finish flashing. I just did this yesterday on my son's phone.

I'm thinking your issue is with the kernel not recognizing the firmware. You need to flash the original kernel for the G530AZ.
You may be able to use the file I have linked for the G530A in this thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/grand-prime/general/att-samsung-galaxy-prime-sm-g530a-links-t3283066

The procedure I posted above will flash your phone back to pure stock, like it would be out of the box. Only thing would be, that it flashes the most current update. When I got the phone, it was already on 5.1.1 and this is what Kies downloaded and flashed.

I believe the problem is that people are flashing firmwares for the incorrect model. If I am understanding correctly, this is a thread for the Cricket Wireless version of the Grand Prime, model SM-G530AZ. If you are flashing firmwares for the 530H, you are bound to have problems.
Here is a link for both the KitKat and Lollipop stock firmwares for the G530AZ. Hope it helps.

I was given a paid off, carrier unlocked sprint samsung galaxy s7 model G930P that is running 8.0 oreo. I use verzion so i tried muti verzion firmware found on xda and flashed thru odin with no luck. I came across the official samsung s7 G930U v8.0 oreo firmware and that flashed perfectly. I would like to root this phone but every tutorial/video fails to flash using odin. If I soft brick the phone I re-flash the Official Samsung S7 G930U oreo 8.0 firmware and try something else.
I guess i'm getting confused with all the info i'm reading here at the forums and asking for help to see what are my possible options? In short this was a sprint phone that was unlocked and now running official samsung firmware. Is there a working way to root this firmware or Is there a way to flash the verzion firmware and root that? At this point i'm only looking to have a firmware with root access with stock rom at lease.
Thanks in advance!
Current phone Info:
Model: SM-G930U
Baseband version: G930UUEU8CRJ2
Build #: R16NW.G930UUEU8CRJ2
OS: Oreo v8.0
Android security patch lvl: 10/1/18
Correct me if i'm wrong but from what i'm reading/learning from this forum is the 5th digit determines which bootloader i'm on?
so if my baseband ver. is G930UUE8CRJ2. That means i'm on bootloader 8 right?
And if what i'm learning is correct..... bootloader 8 is unrootable?
Thanks in advance for shedding some light on this dark day.

Yes, 8 cannot be rooted. What are you trying to do that requires root? There may be a workaround

Nothing major. I was hoping it was possible because some of the apps i'm so used to need root (ex: titanium backup & root explorer). I guess I'm so used to using a rooted phone that it feels weird without it. But I know that is just the tech in me......wanting to tweak something that doesn't really need to be tweaked lol

Ok, because there are workarounds for things like ad blocker; Youtube ad block; disabling apps; and hotspot. Yeah, build.prop/xml edits are off the table.

Hi. My question to you is, what do you want root for.. do you just want to root your device with stock rom or you want to use some custom roms?
I just want to root it so i can fully control my device.. delete some bloatwares and can download app with root supported like titanium backups and etc. Its either stock rom or custom rom can do..as long as it is safe and never affects my device performance..and dont make my device a laggy issues or something like that. Thank you for the response..

Hi. Sorry for the late reply.
If it says 935f. It's probably compatible with roms and recoveries for 935f.
If I'll have to do something like this.. I'd definitely try myself first. Just use odin method to root 935f. Since it's just flashing recovery and installation of super su. There's not much at risk. You can try odin method. If anything does wrong you can still flash it back using odin too....
And if it's about custom rom. I'd highly recommend checking your phones box for the type of chip inside your device. Download recovery and flash via odin. Copy rom to sd card and flash it. But do remember to check oem unlock. Plus you need to download the exact rom for 935 model and exynos/snapdragon version.
