I did juat one cycle but it went down to 3% in a day i think with medium usage of phone and no gamimg :> is this good or kinda bad battery life? P.s im in love with this phone performance tho :cyclops:

Yes, its called better battery stats.
My battery life went down once I got Oreo. "Phone Idle" uses way too much battery now. Apparently, the only real fix (that I have found) is to do a repair on the system which will wipe everything. I am not ready to do that yet. If anyone knows anything different to remedy this without a wipe, please let me know.

I had the same problem when i updated to nougat. At night its drained more then 20% and the phone was hot. The stock battery stats showed nothing but that my phone idle is way higher then anything. I tried factory reset a few times, it was good for a time then its started again. The culprit for me was google play services/play store. When i deleted the update, everything was fine, when updated itself, battery went crazy again. Maybe you could disable it for a day, to see if its any better.

I will try this. Thanks for the suggestion.
My experience is that the battery life fluctuates heavily. Sometime it's (more than) okay, other times I feel the phone getting warm while it is in my pocket (with seemingly nothing running) the battery charge graph shows a steep dropoff when this happens... (I am using omnirom 8.1 - clean flash)
Hi! Did you ever looked at the logs / processes (adb logcat/top) during these dropoffs?
No. It happens mostly at inconvenient moments, but omnirom comes with matlog preinstalled, so I'll try to see if I can collect some useful data.
after factory reset battery life is much better, i mean i get from morning charge to evening before bed about 60 50~ % left, with medium use of phone, it lasts 2days with minor use ar even more easily, tho i do no gaming, only few apps, and most of apps i turned push notifications off , left on only for those i use, im pretty happy with battery now
but im having issue now, and dont know what it could be, battery lasts 100to 80 overnight with no use.... everything is the same, tho some app updates came in, like xperia sound equalizer and so... what could it be? dont want to do factory reset yet.... Last time i checked android os was not so power thirsty? It was used almost the same as screen just few percents above, and now it is. How to find out what processes is behind the android os?

Edit: in omni rom 8.1 i think i found solution , 1. in developer options set the mobile data always on: off 2.downgraded my play store to default settings and apk version (auto updates off) 3. i did set the adaptive brightness to off but it's optional. battery increased very much after that

I am getting crazy CPU usage from Android OS, which is currently sitting at 52% battery usage. The CPU time of Android OS is between 20 and 30 minutes per hour! I have tried freezing many apps, I have tried task killers, rebooting etc. I have WKE7 firmware.
android os does use more than the rest, unsure why, but somehow the battery ife is still pretty good
http://goo.gl/cyd1T
KE7 (stock kernel) , full sync on google stuff + 1 email on push + auto brightness + about 1H of display on time on this, 1d20min and 68% left.
sent 3-4 sms and did a bit of various stuff since yesterday.
Seen worse lol
I would be very happy with that kind of batterylife. Sadly, my phone loses about 35% battery while I'm sleeping. With medium usage, I would usually reach 12 hours of battery.
i rate my battery life to smth like "amazing" xD

Yes for me battery life on sgs2 is also very nice - I'm comparing to sgs and it is about 20% better. My heavy usage today was 5 hours of screen on with wifi, some gps, 2h of gaming, skype running for about 3h, and battery run for total 9h. Also I use 2 push email accounts and sync is on. I think thats really good. And typically when I sleep in 8h battery is drained for about 8% with all email and google syncs active. So this is also quite good. All that on KE7. Most of samsung bloatware frozen.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
Been trying to keep away from these battery threads, but noticed today that I've gone from android system 12% to 30% and I've no idea why.
Still on KE2, and am probably a "light user" - black wallpaper, brightness 20%, screen timeout 2 minutes, some phonecalls, lots of SMS, music - lots of Poweramp - shown a few photos, occasional wifi, GPS ca. 30 minutes per day, don't sync, don't use my carrier's dataplan, no e-mail as yet, and no Facebook/Twitter/games/Social hub/accuweather etc ever - in fact they were uninstalled on day 1.
Got 36 hours from my last charge, am now on 79% after 16 hours. Still happy with it, but no idea what has caused this spike.... Will keep an eye on it.
My $0.02 worth.
I am really starting to wonder why some people have amazing batterylife, while others are having terrible battery life. I would be very happy with 18 hours with 4 hours of screen usage, but instead I am barely scratching 12, today has been even worse. 10 hours with 3 hours screen usage...
So far mine is 2hr 15 mins screen on time, mostly browsing on 3G, 13 hours on battery, and have 29% remaining. Its OK, but I wouldn't describe it as amazing. Roll on 2.3.4
the thing is on android battery life largely depend on apps and setup anyway
Yeh, I know. But I feel like I have optimized my setup as much as I can. No autosynching, email check every 2 hours, facebook, twitter and RSS updates ever 4 hours. No GPS, automatic screen brightness, wifi sleep on. No widgets pulling real time info.
mine has the stock weather widget and animated background - also wifi always on (that prolly actually helps ..)
also i used some gps, played short videos, youtube, recorded some vids and took a few pics (you can see i used it more heavily today in the graph)
im supposing a lot of this goes as android system (bug?) cuz its certainly intensive and isnt in the list (not even lower)

Get rid of the auto screen brightness. I find brightness of 10% makes a huge difference. This samsung screen might look great but in fact it's practically useless as it drinks power
with ke7 as u can see auto brightness doesn't seem an issue for me anymore
i like it because i don't need to set the brightness in sunlight when it's auto hehe
What is your CPU time on Android OS vs. total battery time? Right now my phone has been on for 2 hours and 14 minutes, and CPU time in Android OS is 43 minutes!
If you've read through the majority of these threads, what's weird is that some of you that have uninstalled and/or frozen specific apps are getting worse battery times than those of us that are bone stock and have everything whirring in the background. As an example I use Wi-Fi a lot and also Kies Air and connect to a Blu-ray player using Wi-Fi Direct. The Wi-Fi Sharing app never appears in my running apps after I turn Wi-Fi off. Yet some of you with tweaks that don't use Wi-Fi have it randomly appearing and eating up CPU time.
I've kept up with this thread and other battery threads and for every "ah-ha!" moment there's a post following it showing worsening or no improvement. Somewhere in one of the three battery threads there were some tweets from Google acknowledging the problem in running 2.3.3. with dual-core processors. I think other than for the mad scientist fun factor we're just beating a dead horse and 2.3.4. is going to have to be our salvation. There's not even any assurance that a cooked ROM sans all the Samsung tweaks would work any better if the issue really is a core-OS problem.
Back to our ongoing debate...
Right lets try again and set up this poll correctly this time!
I know we have had a lot of battery questions regarding the arc, but i just want to know whether it is a general firmware upgrade problem, or that i have just been unlucky. For the record, i have gone from 2.3.2 (181) to 2.3.3 / 2.3.4 and my battery life is now rubbish, less than 12 hours in airplane mode. i also tried downgrading back to 2.3.2 and got the 0% issue, so perhaps now have a hardware problem. I will take it to a servicing centre, but i just wanted to know, what sort of battery life should i expect from 2.3.3/4? I understand that signal issues will make this vary quite a bit but just want to get an idea. I have rooted the phone, but not unlocked it if it makes a difference.
well, I'm using My Arc for 3days it's .42.... General usage
I just had
45 mins of calls
30 mins of data (EDGE)
45 mins of Music (headset)
Brightness is 0% eveything is switched off except animation
Wow 3 days. I wish! When I went onto .42 I had another problem, when I received phone calls the other side couldn't hear me. Kind of a fatal flaw for a phone!

I use baseband -36 on .58 firmware.
My battery life is really good, in the sense that I can use my phone heavily and still have juice left even if I don't have immediate access to a charger.
Yesterday I was using my phone a lot, even at night reading an ebook for 3-4 hours with WiFi on and I still have 20% battery left after 17 hours.

I'm with 2.3.3 4.0.A.2.368(or something like this) and i have battery discharging time of around 3-4 days with 15-20 minutes of talk per day + around 20-25 minutes internet usage per day. And still sometimes on stand by some stupid background process occures and starts killing my battery with consumption of 55-60mAh!!! My normal stand by is around from 2 to 5mAh discharge.
Don't now if it's relevant for the Arc, but I have about 27 hours of battery life with normal usage (Twitter, light browsing, WiFi on during the day, screen on auto), and about 6/7 hours of continuous gaming and/or music listening with screen on (screen 70%, WiFi or 3G on). That's on .42.
Flashed .62 yesterday, but everything is looking good so far:
Edit: I have been using Inteks OC kernel for ages.
My power consumption, based on the battery monitor app, is 65+ mA in airplane mode, no matter the firmware. This is why I think I have a hardware problem. I didn't think flashing the firmware would cause hardware problems, so I guess I need to be a bit more careful in the future. Anyway thanks for the info.

There may be two reasons for your problem:
1. Hardware fault.
2. Certain app is causing this.
On 2.3.4 my Arc (I have it since April) perfoms great in this field. In the night on AirplaneMode it eats 2% (about).
BUT there is one app which changes everything drastically and it's a game "Brain Cube" which makes my battery die quick. Also after stopping playing, the game can stay in the background and suck the power. After 1 day everything is back in norm.
Cos I have been flashing my arc so much I only have a few apps installed, like titanium backup, root explorer, setup + battery monitor. I have installed whatsapp too but ensured that it is not running. So I don't think it is an app that is causing it. I have tried flashing different baseballs as well but no luck!

With stock I was loading the whole day (at night, in my car, at work), just because within 8 hrs my battery was empty.
Now I'm using Arconium 5.1 (4.0.2.A.0.62) and don't have to do that anymore.
I'm having wifi/3G on, GPS on, Bluetooth on, screen about 60%.

Took my phone to a service centre, and they replaced the motherboard. Now on rooted stock 2.3.4-58, I can comfortably get 1.5 days use out it
i get 2 days + with normal - heavy usage.. :
today i had :
45 mins of browsing
30 mins calling via 3G
2 hrs of music
20 minutes of facebook or so
and weather updating every hour
battery until now: 67%
i used to get like 7 hours with .42 with the same usage xD

Hello Guyz
I'm really worried about battery drain overnight.
Last night I installed these apps :
-SetCPU
-Greenify
-Intellie3G
-GSam Battery Monitor Pro
Night I had exactly 88% battery. Morning when I checked I had 69% only. It is nearly 20% drop overnight. I have some apps running in the background (Aqua Mail) for example.
I've attached some screenshots. If anyone can help me to find out the reason for this battery drop it would be great.

Seems Aqua Mail is the issue. 4hours Wakelock!
Hey, Please use BatteryBetterStats to check the app that is causing drain.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1179809
Run BBS, Turn on Root features and disable Google Analytics in Settings. Also remember to tick all possible options in log settings.
Charge phone full, unplug phone and leave overnight (at least 4 hours COMPLETELY idle), first thing in the morning, dump a log by clicking the share button at the top and selecting dump log.
Send the log saved in root of SDcard to me. I will take a look for you. Cheers!

Hello, i have a frost white nexus 6p which i got for christmas and my battery seems to drop pretty fast throughout the day even when i am not using it and i have to charge it by about 5 or 6 pm after unplugging it about 9am.
i wasn't sure if it was an app causing this so i factory reset the phone and didnt install any new apps (only the ones that come with the phone updated) and left it over night to see how much it drained and if doze kicked in. The apps i was using and had installed before the reset was reddit relay, lightflow, tapatalk and whatsapp.
after putting it down around 12:30 - 1am and checking the battery at around 10am it only dropped 3-4 percent where as the night before it was around 15 percent with my apps installed but when i looked at the battery graph it wasn't a flat line like it would have been on my nexus 6 if doze was activated.
Does that mean doze didn't activate through the night? i looked at a friends nexus 6 and theirs had a completely flat line for the time that they was asleep?
Here is the graph of my battery from last night. this is after a wipe/reset with only the apps that came with the phone and some of the stock apps also updated before i put the phone down for the night.

3-4% drop overnight it's pretty good, Doze is kicking in.
As far as the graph goes, I think because it's showing you almost 3 days, you can't see the flat line..
After you use your device for a few minutes, this graph will change and you'll probably see the flat line.

The graph is hugely deceiving, let's say you went 5 hours with 0 % loss, but the last 5 mins you lost 1 %, while it was off, it would show a slant not a flat line.

It estimates how long your device will last until the battery is empty. If you use your phone a few minutes it will rescale as battery consumption over time increases and thus estimation of remaining time will decrease. As far as I know you cannot rescale manually. Basically it makes more sense to look at it in the middle of the day, not directly after a night of dozing.

It seems one of the apps you had previously inatalled was causing a wake lock. It shouldn't matter what you have running, your phone should doze when left alone.

I don't think so..
If you have root, you can try to use BBS or WLD to check if there's any wakelock waking your device.
There's also EX Kernel Manager (Requires BusyBox to work hehe)..
On EXKM you can control your kernel and it has an awesome battery consumption tool that shows you the screen on drain and screen off drain.
thanks guys.
after i posted my results this morning i installed reddit relay and whatsapp and didn't really use the phone for over 5 minutes throughout the day. it has now been about just under 7 hours and it dropped to 84%
I have now used the phone for about 15 minutes since the battery got to 84% browsing reddit using the relay app and just going in to the phone settings on under a 1/4 brightness and it has dropped to 74%. is it normal for it to drop 10% in that little amount of time?
In the battery settings my usage since full charge is
screen 2% - time on 20 mins
phone idle - 6 hours 30 mins
android system has kept the phone awake for 31 seconds
android os has kept it awake for 46 mins 46 seconds.
I'm not familiar with the battery stats and was wondering if android os should be keeping it awake for 46 minutes out of the 7 hours it has been on.
EDIT: it has dropped a further 3% since i have written this post and from having the screen on for no more than a minute to write down the battery stats from the screen on time and awake times
Dropped a further 10% last night when I was sleeping. Only apps that were installed was WhatsApp, Tapatalk and relay. It was 90% when I woke up not 84% i just didn't take the screenshot straight away and browsed on chrome first.

It must be one of these apps but I have always used them without a problem and they were fine on my nexus 6 a few days ago along with all the other apps that I had on there when i was using it before i got this phone.
Could it be a problem with the phone and getting a new one would fix this? or is it to do with the apps i mentioned. the apps are fine on my other phone and only drain by 1 or 2% over night.
Hopefully someone could help me. I know others who use these apps and even i did on my nexus 6 since marshmallow came out and havent had any problems until now on my 6p.
I think Whatsapp may be the issue. I am facing similar issues.
As the title said, I'm gathering some information about screen on time (SOT) of Zenfone 5 1.2Ghz (from 100 to 1-5 percent)
I want to see how my battery is after years by how much time it can handle now. Hope you guys help me.
In comment section, please including your SOT plus:
- What rom are you using? (Kernel version if can)
- Most used network: Wifi or Cellular
- Network setting: Always on or Never (Manually)
- App ram usage (Running Service in Setting/Battery or Develop Options)
Thats all I want to know for now.
Thanks!
Using stock rom Kitkat newest version, cause it uses much less battery!
I mostly use more of the Wi-Fi on always on
what is mostly using my ram is the screen ( brightness) and android
I will send more information about RAM usage later, my phone is recharging
Using 1.6ghz variant.
rom- resurrection remix nougat. but channging of roms didnt had any great impact
only wifi always on.
ram- 40-50% or below free.
sot i get varies from 2hr- 3hrs. only texting and light stuff gives around 2hr 40mins.
im using latest kitkat on my 3 years old zenfone 5 single sim variant.
this one with 100% cpu usage all time + [ full screen brightness+ bluetooth + wifi+ gps on ] from 100% to 5%;

How long screen on time did you get? That's quite impressive battery graph with wifi and gps always on.

Screen was always on in both tests. i used battery drain app to make screen always on with full brightness and wifi in second test and i get 3h45m screen time.
in first test i pushed cpu 100% and activated all gps/bluetooth/wifi etc and i get 1h53m screen time. but phone was really overheated and i scare to do it again (it was burning my hand)
actually i was shocked myself when i saw 4 h screen time when i used my phone to only read ebook all day in home with half brightness and i decided to test my phone. Results were amazing i agree, i hope it keeps that way for one more year.
i tested overnight battery usage and it dropped to 85% from 100% within 7 hours with wireless open while android sleep. i guess it might be better to close all network overnights

I wish I still kept the screenshot on Mashmallow to show you.
wireless is not the reason but the google play service. After disable a list of unneeded services, I let wireless enable all the time, gmail and other notification still can be recieved and battery drained 1% per hour (screen off). For specifically, after 6 hours over night, it will drain 6%.
screen on time is normally 3 hours but of course I have to tweak a lot to get this result. If not, battery just drains like hell.

i tried to close wifi yesterday , as you mentioned it does not effect the drain.
3 hours sot on marshmallow is great but unfortunately i cant use custom roms cuz i need Gps occasionaly and my simcard often keep loosing signal on thoose . i am considering to get a xiaomi mi or redmi phone by next year but until that i had to use asus zf5 with kitkat 4.4.2 and 3-3.5 sot is best i can wish for.
