Redmi note 5 pro camera - Xiaomi Mi A1 Questions & Answers

Is it possible to port redmi note 5 pro stock camera app for mi a1?
I mean I don't have that much knowledge.
Just wanted to know!
That has eis and portrait mode for selfies in it that's why.
Thank you!

We already have EIS and Frontal Portrait!!
The both features that you ask for is already available via Gcam, so why do you need porting note 5 stock camera

Because video with gcam lags lil bit if you campare both of them!
Video recorded with stock camera is much smoother then gcam! That's why!

Using Google Photos Video Stabilization also helps to some extent.

Yes Google Camera Have better potrait selfies than Redmi Note 5 Pro. Back camera also does great than Stock Mi Camera in low light.

There are too many versions of Google Camera; one performs better with back camera pictures, one has better videos with EIS, one has richer HDR, one is definitely good but only for selfies.
Is there an "ultimate version" that is capable for all?

Samsung Galaxy J7 Pro Camera2API, Raw and Google HDR+ Camera Support

Hi, I want to buy Galaxy J7 Pro 2017. The price is similar to Redmi Note 4 in my country but I like Samsung more. I want to ask a few questions regarding this amazing budget midrange phones;
1) Does J7 Pro support Camera2 API?
2) Does the pro camera mode able to save photos in RAW?
3) Can you install Google HDR+ Camera in this phone?
I know that this phone is Exynos but there is a port of Google HDR+ Camera for Exynos that works in S7/S8/Note8. Also, the Redmi Note 4 has same camera sensor as J7 Pro which Google HDR+ Camera helps improve the image quality significantly.
Please any kind soul helps me. Thanks
I tested Google HDR+ port for Exynos - not work on J730F.
I think J730F not support RAW.
The google camera will work on j7 pro but not with portrait mode or HDR+
Funny thing is, you can capture 120fps videos with redmi note4 while you can only 30fps with j730.
It does support Camera2API. I use open camera and it allows capturing 1440p videos (2560×1440). Samsung also added selfie portrait mode with January software update. Hopefully the back camera will also have it in future update.

You have to enable "Camera2API" in the Open camera settings first. Then restart the app and you'll see those extra resolutions in the option. There's a 4K option but it doesn't work because samsung disabled it, even though the hardware is fully capable. Mi A1 has the same same camera and shoots 4k.

I also checked the camera's capability and can shoot 1080 60fps and 2160p.
Can I shoot 60fps?
I haven't tried 1080p 60FPS yet.

Just tried and no, 60 FPS doesn't work with any resolution.

Google Camera on Le Pro 3 x722 - How good is Video recording?

Hi everyone! I'm new here.
I was interested in this phone (x722) because its crazy cheap for what it offers, but at the same time I am interested in a phone with a good video recording (with stabilization) so before buying I wanted to check.
I was wondering if anyone having the x722 and having installed a custom rom and the GCam port, could tell me how it stabilizes, in which settings (4k, 1080) and if its possible to record 1080/60fps videos aswell?
If some nice person around here would do some test and check if it stabilizes video well and can record 1080/60 it would be great.
Thanks a lot in advance! Hope to see some useful replies
I don't have proof, but people like the camera when they're using it with the modded Gcam. 60fps recording should work with modded Gcam, but it doesn't work normally, i.e. with the stock camera or OpenCamera, despite giving you the 60fps recording option. The IMX298 takes decent 60fps, nothing special. About on par with the iPhone 6. But I don't think you get video stabilization at all. You'll have to stabilize it yourself in Google photos or something.
Source: I owned a Zenfone 3, which has the same sensor.

The OP3T has pretty good electronic stabilization and uses the same IMX298 sensor aswell, so its definitely not a sensor problem in your Zenfone.
The LeEco pretty much has the same capabilities as the OP3/3T, it should be perfectly doable
I don't know, I guess the app would have to give you the option for stabilization. I just tested video recording on my phone and it doesn't have stabilization. I used Open Camera. I'm not rooted so I can't try the modded Gcam.

Yes, I was asking to people that had a custom Nougat ROM + Google Cam 5.0
Could someone in general post pictures and videos taken on the X722 with gcam? I am thinking of buying this Phone.

Worth using the Gcam vs stock Moto camera?

With a hell lot of beta versions of gcam being developed daily of different variants, I just wanted to know if it's really worth a shot flashing a custom Oreo ROM and using those Gcams, instead of stock Moto Camera. What are your thoughts?
For me, not really, instead i use snap camera hdr , that app give me better results than gcam but gcam has a faster hdr algorithm that can be essencial for fast moving objects for example, or fast pictures snap. The autofocus of gcam never worked that well for me, but the portrait worked very well. On custom rom you lose slowmotion.

Dude don't listen to this duncan dude. gcam is amazing now. focus is just as good as stock camera and the picture quality is miles ahead. even portrait mode works perfectly fine. the only thing is front portrait is noisy on most camera apps. but the results from back camera are comparable to iphone 7 and s8 and pixel.(seriously- cuz g5 plus uses same sensor as pixel 2)

I am using gcam and it is worth a shot. Pictures are amazing using gcam. EIS also improved a lot for videos. The only drawback is slo-mo videos. Hopefully it will be fixed with upcoming Oreo update for g5 plus.......

Mix 2s camera port for mi6 and mi mix 2.

Xiaomi has updated camera of mi mix 2s with 720 and 1080 slow Mo with @240fps capturing. I know mix 2s has different camera sensor and better cpu and gpu. But camera sensor and cpu is also capable of MI6 and mix 2 to record [email protected] and [email protected] fps. Also Xiaomi introduced scene detection AI capabilities which is software based. Also image stabilization is better on mix 2s video recordings. So I request to port the mix 2s camera and other files required to do same on our mix 2 and MI6. A lot will be benefited . Actually it will make them a complete package as gcam has improved imaging and if all goes well we can see good video capturing also.
Regards
They can't even port first MIUI camera what goes for 2s camera..

This should change now. There are a lot of mix 2 and MI6 users who could not able to enjoy device full potential and restricted to very few things.
it would be link to lib and hardware stuff. I hope Dev can make it.
Both MI6 and mix 2 hardware capable of EIS + AI + 1080 @120fps [email protected] Libs and modified files are required

Yes I thought it about 6 months ago tried to talk to various developers but non success. Actually I am noob in coding and porting. My field is testing. I can do extensive testing only.
It's very good idea. But it's seems devloper have problem in coding or porting it. Maybe after some months they can make it works. We should wait for future.
Why is everybody hyped about EIS when we have OIS? Doesn't EIS crop image, Why do we need cropped images when OIS can bring great results by itself?
MIX 2S's camera ported to MIUI + AOSP roms (with most or all of it's features working) will be one hell of a great great project, and I will be supporting it indeed!
Glad to see someone cares about MIUI Camera at all.

Like I said EIS = crop. I don't think that't the best option anyway.
At least option to disable/enable EIS will be good.
I was able to run mix 2s camera app by using odex file of mix 2 along in its folder. There is a catch, it did not capture any picture and also no AI mode works. But video works. Any one with high knowledge please do make it port.

Optical only stabilisation on such a small scale as a phone's camera isn't enough to give silky smooth stability unfortunately.
I agree that it should be optional

I'm generally oposed to the idea, but on a phone it's almost a necessity, unless you have a gimble(in which case EIS wouldn't have much reason to do much of anything) or you want to stabilize in post.

Redmi Note 7 Global Version - Camera light issue

Hello,
I would like to ask if anyone has encountered the following issue:
When I try to make night photos with light gathering in Pro mode, the camera gathers too much light. Now I try the following settings: WB - Auto; Focus Auto/100; Shutter 4/8/16 seconds; ISO 100 in 48 MP mode. Now what I get with this configuration is too much light absorption. Pictures get really yellow and bright around any light sources. This makes taking pictures of car taillight trail for example impossible.
Now before you say to try different settings - I have. I also have the PRO version of the phone, and pictures are being way way better with the exact same settings. I will upload some examples as soon as I have them on my PC.
Has anyone encountered such an issue with the stock cam app?? Any way to fix it?? Any better cam app that might help out?? Can this be a faulty camera all together and should I contact the seller? (phone bought from China so you can figure how that will go).
Thank you very much in advance

Thank you very much. Do I need the phone rooted to use those??Also can you provide links for the gcam / opencamera video recording apps, as well as any configuration you find good?
It just seems strange that 2 phones with presumably same sensor, can make such different photos with the same settings. Yes one is RN7 and the other is RN7P, but still they should have identical cameras.

that is fundamentally incorrect. it's almost as if saying all 12mp sensors on every mainstream phone out there should be same as they output the same 12mp images.
rn7 has samsung isocell gm-1 sensor, which is unproven compared to the sony imx586 on the rn7p. there will be differences for sure.
