First bootloop happened 2 weeks ago. Today happened again twice i wiped dalvik cache and everything is fine how can i fix it? I thought rom cause it i flashed stock firmware rooted it and removed bloatware. Still happens lags, freeze, getting too hot and bootloop. Is it lollipop update? I never had this issues with kitkat. Try a full factory reset. Be careful as this will wipe your internal storage.

Thank you for your answer but I did it after flash stock rom via odin. Wiped data / factory reset , cache partition , mounted cache , system , data , wiped dalvik cache..
Wiping data does not equal a factory reset. Wiping data does just that, wipes user installed apps. But generally leaves the internal storage alone.
A factory reset returns the phone to the settings it came out of the factory with, including a clean internal storage(If you have the stock rom). I heard that changing roms and just wiping data, dalvik and cache will still leave behind some files.
But it could also be untrue.

Flashing stock rom is same with factory reset i think clears everything.
I don't know. Haven't flashed stock on this device yet.
But don't most guys recommend doing a wipe before going back to stock?
I dont know i'll try that when i have free time. I did research some guys saying lollipop causing these problems. I'll try wipe before flash stock rom again , if issues keep happen i'll use lates 4.4.2 custom rom. Thank you for your answers i'll report back.
Real reset
This method will wipe everything, including operating system and efs files. Before you do this:
you must root
Download twrp recovery
Install the recovery using the app from the play store
Boot into recovery mode and have twrp backup everything
save your backup to an SD card and the computer (can't hurt to have two backups)
Doing the above will preserve your phone important data like your imei and efs
in case something goes wrong.
NOW
after you have backed everything up use twrp recovery to wipe data. Have twrp wipe everything except for your SD card (don't won't to lose the backup)
After everything has been obliterated have twrp boot you into download mode.
Download Odin from XDA preferably 3.09 (most stable release) and then grab an official stock firmware from a trusted source. The latest stock firmware should be at least 4.4.2
If you have carriers other than t-mobile you will also need to find a PIT file for partitioning.
When you have all of this open up Odin with your phone connected in download mode and make sure repartitioning, clear efs and nand-erase is checked along with the defaults.
Select pda button and choose your firmware (unzipped tar.md5 format.) Then select repartitioning PIT file button and direct to where you have the PIT file downloaded.
now click start (be sure that the Com port is recognized by Odin: will be highlighted in blue or yellow.)
This will take a while depending on your computer.
when it finishes your phone should reboot with a fresh os and filesystem. If you get stuck in a bootloop reboot into recovery mode and do a wipe data and wipe cache. Reboot and your phone should be good as new.
IMPORTANT!!! It is vital you keep your TWRP backups for as long as you have your phone if you lose them and something goes wrong while flashing your phone you will lose important things such as IMEI baseband which will prevent you from connecting to your network and Sim card recognition.
Thank you so much i'll try this now.

Is that another custom recovery?
If so then yes just make sure you have all of your system files and most importantly your efs backed up.
Run odin as administrator if that doesnt work, try using another version of Odin.

What carrier are you using, model number of the phone, etc.
Have you backed everything up? And can you flash the custom recovery through Odin if it fails?
Try it without wiping efs first just to be safe
Look here for your device you will be able to find standalone flash able versions of twrp that should work through odin.

Using i9500. And i did what you said and works fine thank you! Mods close thread please.
Ok, so I have NEVER been able to successfully restore from a backup made using TWRP when the backup was of a Cyanogen based ROM.
I've tried selecting every box/option for the backup thus creating a big arse file and even those don't successfully install during a restore attempt.
The only backup I have the will successfully install is the one I made immediately after installing TWRP of the stock rom.
When I attempt to restore my CM13 rom it usually gets to around 10 to 14 percent complete and then suddenly just reboots and seems to be stuck on the boot loading image forever until my patience runs out and I flash back to stock.
Any ideas guys? I would LOVE to be able to restore one of my CM13 backups.
I'm on Nexus 6p using newest TWRP and had backed up a couple CM13 nightlies.
Currently running CM13 snapshot.

Have you read my guide?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6p/general/guides-how-to-guides-beginners-t3206928
You definitely shouldn't be selecting all options in the backup menu. You only need to select system, data, boot, and vendor. And obviously only restore those.

Thanks for the information. Ok I made a backup of only the 4 things listed...before I made the backup I made sure that I had NO security of any kind.
This time the backup got to 100% and then asked me to reboot the system. I was excited...thinking this had actually worked this time...only to find that it stays stuck io the GOOGLE plash screen...it never makes it to the boot animation.
The original stock backup still works...and in looking at that backup it only had 3 things backed up (no vendor).
Suggestions???
At this point a backup has failed once again and I'll have to spend hours getting it back the way I had it.

You could try restoring the backup without the vendor, but then you'll need to flash the appropriate vendor image to suit the ROM that you're restoring.

tried that. it also failed.
Now things seem to be worse. I restore the original stock backup and then from there begin the process again of installing Cyanogenmod 13...only no matter what I do to install it...it gets stuck on the Google unlock screen.
I've tried.
Factory Reset - Install Just CM13 snapshot = fail
Factory Reset - Install CM13 snapshot and Gapps = fail
Factory Reset - Install CM13 snapshot and Gapps and Xposed and Vendor file fix thingy = Fail
a few other combinations all failing the same way.
A phone is worthless to me if I can't run CM13 I "NEED" to customize!!

Are you flashing the appropriate vendor image for the ROM after you've flashed the ROM? When you say factory reset are you just choosing the factory reset option in TWRP? If so, you should instead go into the advanced wipe section and wipe system, data, cache, and dalvik cache. CM isn't the only ROM out there with customisation, there are other ROMs that have the same or more level of customisation available.

Hi,
I have G935F, installed TWRP 3.0.0.0 and rooted, WITHOUT wiping. System boots correctly, but I cannot do factory reset or wipe with TWRP, because I got some messages like "Cannot mount Data" and "Failed crypto loader". I understand that it has to do with encryption. Can someone please enlight me, and give me tips about the issue?
Thank you

You have to download dm-verity and force encryption disabler from here , put it to SD card, reboot into TWRP, FORMAT DATA (not wipe) and flash that file (dm-verity and force encryption disabler). All your data will be erased.
No way to unencrypt without loosing you data for the moment(
"All your data will be erased" means that after boot I'll find a clean system installation (as factory reset)?
I hope not to be posing stupid questions, I'm completely new to this world
Thank you very much
Yes just as a factory reset

No, you cannot perform a backup, because your data is encrypted by default and the only way to disable it is to format your data.
I have a unique problem. I have a HTC Desire 612 from Verizon and I decided to revive it to playe PoGo. But it was stuck in a boot loop and I couldn't get any custom ROM.
Finally a gentle soul here gave me the stock rom and I flashed it vide TWRP and played PoGo for weeks. Then yesterday the phone bro led and when it came up it was stuck in a boot loop.
So I decided to flash the stock ROM again. But before that I tried to factory reset. I could go to TWRP, select wipe data, enter yes and the wiping was successful, then clear dalvic and cache and system beforehand finally I flashed the stock ROM.
Surprise surprise is NOTHING happens. The phone boots without the apps telling me they are installing. Then I get back the exact same data in my phone including my selected wallpaper and apps. Before I can do anything the phone restarts.
Point is wiping and restoring the stock ROM does NOTHING to the phone yet the processes are successful. Can somebody help?

It really is about TWRP failing to wipe
Hey guys,
I unlocked my bootloader and flashed a recovery succesfully. When I entered into recovery mode, I enter into TWRP, get to install SuperSU, but when I reboot my device, it is stuck on "warning etc..."
What could I have done wrong? How can I fix this? Any help would be very much appreciated.
I have a MXP XT1563
I installed this TWRP http://forum.xda-developers.com/devdb/project/?id=11587#downloads
And this SuperSU https://download.chainfire.eu/696/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.46.zip
I honestly can't remember what fastboot files I download, but I suppose it was ok since I got to enter my unlocking code and unlock it.
Thanks in advance.
Regards from Mexico
When I enter into TWRP and enter somewhere, for instance Install, I can see my folders: amazon, kindle, whatsapp, etc... I suppose that's good news.
I've tried doing a factory reset from Wipe, no sucess.
Please help! I will be uncommunicated until I solve this

hi bablu048, I did not "nandroid" before flashing su. I did it after I flashed it and when I try to restore it it says it's read only.
Do I download su 2.62-3, copy it into my storage and flash it again, no matter all I've done by now?
when it asks to keep read only refect it select allow modifications,
yes, download that su , copy it to storage and flash.

ok, this is what I did: I downloaded the su, put in internal storage, went into recovery mode, got into twrp, installed new su.
Now it gets past the warning, but gets stuck now in the water-ish motorola logo...
When I go into Restore, I can see two back ups, when I try to restore any of them, it says "cannot restore system - - mounted read only" and no option to modify it.
thanks a lot for your help! I'm trying to follow your every advice as best as I understand it
DO NOT restore the old backup it has the old su you will be back to where you started.
]boot into twrp clear cache/dalvic cache and leave the phone on the watery logo for a few minutes..it takes some time to boot

I see... actually I didnt get to restore any of them. I cleared both caches and now I'm waiting in the watery logo.
In case I don't make it, I'll have to let it for a while like this: on the watery logo, the MXP is quite hot now... no problem if I let it like that for half a day? I'm worried about that
In case it doesn't pass from there... is downloading twrp backups still an option? I just finished downloading RSD lite.

just let it on the watery logo for 15-20 minutes if it's still not going any further you can download the backups and wipe the system, cache, dalvic cache then restore the backup
RSD lite is used to flash the original factory firmware then you have to root again.

I manually backed up my files, so I'm not worried about anything I might have on the phone; still, I think flashing a new firmware will factory reset my MXP correct?
Is the original factory firmware the same as a stock image? I found this list of resources: https://github.com/motoxplay/stock. Under XT1563 - México, I can see my carrier, Iusacell. Will this do it?
Please do let me know.

yes it will wipe,
that's the correct firmware. 6.0.1
always take a nandroid before flashing su 2.62-3
after flashing twrp again when you boot into twrp do "swipe to allow modifications to /system"..you didn't do this that's why you were not able to restore backups.

hi bablu048,
I found in here a "unSu" guide. I ran it, it deleted Su, then ran Su you recommended and I still got suck in the watery logo.
Then I "unSu" it again, now didn't run any Su, reeboted device and it finally started.
I think su is the problem. Where can I check what su should I use?
great first take a nandroid.
finding the correct su is hit and trial method. generally su 2.62-3 worked. try other su's 2.65,2.66

Ok, I get it now. I backup my device with nandroid to make sure I have it there in case something goes wrong. If I have no info I want to save (my phone is blank, it's factory resetted from the bootloader unlocking) is it still necessary to nandroid? It's necessary in case a su fails right?
nandroid backup takes a backup of your OS with data and everything.
I think you didn't allow/system to be modified when you first booted into twrp. that's why su is failing, as su modifies the /system partition.

by now, my MXP is factory resetted, I'm trying to read more before doing anything.
Since is factory resetted, it doesn't have developer mode (oem unlocking, usb debugging). I still see TWRP in recovery mode.
I suppose if I want to try another SU, I have to enable develper of course, oem-usb, obviously. Do I have to flash TWRP again? Or can I just try a SU? Of course, after having done a nandroid.

you don't need to take nandroid backup always, once is sufficient unless you want to backup the latest data. no need to flash twrp again. just flash su.
take a nandroid backup once (everything system, boot, data) . after successfully flashing su you can keep another backup that contains su.

ok, finally! My device is rooted. Thanks a lot!
I think I forgot to select external storage when taking a nandroid, so it went into internal storage, it filled a little more than 5 GB. I can't see this backup neither in TWRP, PC or an android file explorer. How can I get rid of those 5 GB? I take a nandroid on external storage and already copied it in my PC.
Is there a way via TWRP to get rid of it? Wiping something? I'm very cautios from now on.
it's stored at /data/media/twrp delete those backups. or boot into twrp >restore> it'll show all the backups delete those.

I'm having issues with restoring the factory image of stock Android 6.0.1, I'm using
@Heisenberg guide to create the fresh back up image on TWRP-3.0.2-0. Once I create
the back up, I boot into the OS and perform a factory reset, when i do that the phone resets
into TWRP, and performs the wipe to the device, when i go to do the restore, it freezes
at about 39%, and reboots fully trying to enter the OS, but its corrupt due to TWRP restarting
in the middle of the recovery.
I did at one point upgrade to Android N, but reverted back to android 6.0.1 if that makes a difference.
TL;DR - Created a fresh factory image of 6.0.1 using TWRP, cannot recover with it, TWRP freezes at 39% every time.
What options are you selecting to backup/restore?

I'm doing a back up selecting the system/data/boot/vendor boxes, leaving everything else unchecked, and a second back up with only the EFS,
When i go to restore, I'm just using the first back up, leaving the EFS alone unless ever needed, and am selecting the system/data/boot/vendor boxes

I can only think that your backup is corrupt. Also, instead of booting into Android and performing a factory reset that way, just go into the advanced wipe section of TWRP and wipe only data. Maybe you'll just need to flash the factory images to get the phone booting up fresh again.
That's where it gets interesting, I've flashed the factory 6.0.1 image, then flashed twrp, created the back up again, did the advanced wipe as you said, did the restore again, and same result, at around 39% of the recovery the phone reboots and the back up gets corrupt. My main goal is to make sure this back up absolutely works before I root and start playing around with flashing xposed modules, but I'm unable to do a successful restore for the life of me.

I'm stumped, I really don't know why it wouldn't be working if you're performing the backup the way you say you are. Sorry I can't be more helpful. If it's any consolation, a backup probably isn't strictly necessary because you can always get back to stock by flashing the factory images.

I'm stumped too, I've been able to do this effortlessly in the past with this phone, my Nexus 9 and m8 GPE, it wasn't until I upgraded to N and reverted back to 6.0.1 this started to happen. I've even gone as far as trying different versions of twrp, but have had the same result.
I'm just worried in a worst case scenario I'm away from a comp, something crashes and I can't do a restore via twrp, I could be SOL until I get to a comp with adb.
i had a similiar problem , but when i got into the stock image , i went into settings and did a factory reset from there , no worries your BL stays unlocked , once thats done get whatever apps you want back , disable fingerprint /security junk , then boot into bl just like the guide says , youll be able to fastboot install recovery , (boot back into bl, then scroll to recovery and start a gain) then make your backups yor OG & EFS , then reboot , get su reboot into recovery install and yould be be fine , i think you can also try fastboot format userdata , as well

Just keep a ROM zip + gapps on your phone at all times, if you run into trouble you can flash that.
That definitely makes sense , i always dk that
