Hello experts,
I have one Samsung Galaxy S8 International Version G950F and another G955F. According to multiple sources (including Samsung's website), this phone should support the following bands: 1(2100), 2(1900), 3(1800), 4(1700/2100), 5(850), 7(2600), 8(900), 12(700), 13(700), 17(700), 18(800), 19(800), 20(800), 25(1900), 26(850), 28(700), 32(1500), 66(1700/2100), 38(2600), 39(1900), 40(2300), 41(2500).
However, when I check via service mode (Code *#2683662#, then ETC -> Common -> Information -> Band/FGI/CA Info, I only see available bands 2, 3, 4 and 17. This occurs on both phones, see printscreen below.

CSC: G9FFFOXM1AQF7
Current version (for S8):
AP/CP: G950FXXU1AQCC
CSC: G950FOWA1AQCC
My question: is there a way to unlock other bands via firmware update or any other method? I tried flashing firmware from some european operators (which support this band) without success. Phones are not rooted and I'd prefer not having to do that.
Thanks!

Anyone know whats the different between these Note 4 variant, SM-N910F, SM-N910G and SM-N910U?? There are all powered by Snapdrgon 805 so where the different?
SM-N910U is Exynos and is for Hong Kong, Taiwan, Australia, New Zealand and Chile. It supports FDD-LTE on the bands B1 (2100), B2 (1900), B3 (1800), B4 (AWS/1700), B5 (850), B7 (2600), B8 (900), B28 (700) - Source
SM-N910G is Snapdragon and is for Singapore, Sri Lanka and India. It supports TDD-LTE on bands 38 and 40, and FDD-LTE on B1 (2100MHz), B2 (1900MHz), B3 (1800MHz), B4 (1700MHz), B5 (850MHz), B7 (2600MHz), B8 (900MHz) - Source
SM-N910F is Snapdragon for Europe. It supports FDD-LTE on B1(2100), B2(1900), B3(1800), B4(AWS), B5(850), B7(2600), B8(900), B17(700), B20(800) - Source
I see you're in Singapore. According to wikipedia, all singaporean carriers use FDD-LTE on Band 7 (2600Mhz) and Band 3 (1800Mhz). Therefore SM-N910U, SM-N910G and SM-N910F will all give you full LTE support. You can buy any of the devices and they will work for you. You just need to decide if you want Exynos (SM-N910U) or Snapdragon with TDD-LTE (useful in china AFAIK, SM-N910G - 7 TDD bands), or Snapdragon with more LTE bands for travelling (SM-N910F - 9 TDD bands)

So, the Exynos variant 910U/910c does not support the protocol family HSPA/+? I live in europe and I would like the variant with Exynos, if possible
LTE cat 4 is more than enough for my country, maybe even too much!
Thanks in advance

Dear All,
I have SM-910S phone. I'm in Sri Lanka. can I flash SM-N910G ROM for this phone?
I tried flashing SM-N910F 5.1.1 ROM onto my SM-N910G phone based on the above description, but unfortunately, this failed.
So, users, please don't flash 910F onto 910G phone.
I found there are a lot of "debug" apps in the firmware for Z3,
and I'll introduce the most interesting one - "Tech Mode by Sony"!
With "Tech Mode by Sony", you can check what band you are connecting only with your Xperia.
I only confirmed "Tech Mode by Sony" aka TechMode.apk is avairable in the firmware for Z3 / Z3 Compact 23.0.A.2.98 / 23.0.A.2.105.
Here is extracted files from Z3 D6603 23.0.A.2.105: Download
[UPDATE]
You can get Tech Mode for Z1 or Z2 by flashing/downloading Customized UK ftf
How to check connecting band
1. Dial
Code:
*#*#*386#*#*
or
Code:
*#*#*585*0000#*#*
2. "Tech Mode by Sony" will be opened, tap what you are connecting.
e.g. If you want to check LTE band, tap LTE and if you want to check W-CDMA band, tap UMTS.

3. Check "Serv EARFCN" for LTE or "UARFCN" for UMTS
4. Open LG Space or some other apps such as EARFCN Calculator
e.g. Type number of "Serv EARFCN" to "Earfcn" of LG Space and click "Frequency ...".
Then you wil get band info like this:
For UMTS, click "UMTS Frequency" tab.
This is very useful if you are interested in network or unlocking bands.
Great! Tks for sharing this....
Anyway, tested on Z1 4.4.4 .133 firmware and all show N/A on the app. Some are display like IMEI......
Very helpful for me, T-Mobile would intermittently switch me to LTE Band 4 where signal was low instead of keeping me on Band 12 which gave me full signal. After disabling Bands 2&4, I am always on Band 12 now with full signal.
Not working for 5.1.1 on 6603
Great found!
Thank you so much my friend!!
It works on the Z2 with 5.1.1 ROM 264
Download the apk file, place it in system apps as 755 and reboot.. (you need custom kernel to write in system folder, or deactivate protection)
Thanks a lot
All other apps I've tried failed to read the earfcn Nr.
Hi @AndroPlus, I'm trying on a Z3C running stock MM 23.5.A.1.291 (booloader locked) D5803.
Both strings don't work. I mean, when I digit the last character "*" all the text I have digit (in the text dial number) is automatically deleted.
Is the apk working in this case?
Thanks

Can't vouch for how accurate the information is, but here's what Frequency Check says:

Here's what Frequency Check says about specific compatibility of XT1643 (not very sure how accurate they are) :

AFAIK, unless they're locked on OS or firmware level, the device radio needs to support bands you're looking to unlock.
You may also want to check with your carrier, given online information may not be up to date.
Thanks
open dialer and dial *#*#4636#*#*
select phone information
then on top right you will see 3 dots. open it and select radio band.
it has many options select what you want but careful.
Also i have looked and I need The LTE Band with 800Mhz, but The XT1643 doesn't Support it. It is possible to unlock LTE 800 in The XT1643? The XT 1642 Supports LTE 800.
It may be too late to reply but you can change it using a script. I did it with mine and the network problem was fixed to Indian baseband

How did you do that?
guys, there is a very specific instruction on xda (please search) to unlock all baseband, for all regions, be careful
I have changed the NV codes in an US baseband phone (XT1644), to try to add one EU LTE band that was missing (band 20). The "change" was saved, but the band is still not working.
Some hardware pieces (RF amps) are also needed to be in the hardware for that to happen.
Now, the bands for the Indian model are: 1(2100), 3(1800), 5(850), 8(900), 40(2300)
In EU the most used LTE bands are 3 (1800), 7 (2600) and in rural areas 20 (800MHz, low bandwidth).
Those are given more exact here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_LTE_networks_in_Europe
I doubt that band 7 can be added.
The Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ were recently updated to Android Oreo, and among its new features includes a full band selector (replacing the old service menu that was disabled with the security patch of November / 2017)
This mode lets you choose a specific network (as does the test menu in AOSP) and also choose a band specified within all supported.
Now, the only known way to enter this menu is through an activity manager (Nova Launcher or Quickshortcutmaker for giving examples) and look for the com.samsung.HiddenNetworkSetting app
When you find the activity, you must execute it and the next window will appear:
https:// imgur .com/a/61DJo
Where you can choose the network mode. If you open the side menu, you will see the other 2 options (Band Selection and 5G SA Mode) then select "Band Selection" and the following will appear:
{

}
Here you can choose the available bands, and then activate the slider that says "Selection". In this way, the band chosen as the default (Remember that if you select only one of the bands, you will not have CA)
I remember again that this method only works with builds based on Android 8.0 Oreo (RAP or RB7)
I remember again that this method only works with the builds based on Android 8.0 Oreo (RAP or RB7) and I do not know if it will work on other models besides the international variants of the Galaxy S8 or S8+ (SM-G950F / FD and SM-G955F / FD)
That is all! For now, I will be alert to possible doubts, but I remember that this app is only available through a hidden activity within the Oreo update, and I do not know if it will be maintained in successive updates. I will continue informing.
Thank you so much
Thank you very much for this useful info and for some unknown reason I am not getting Band 40 in band selection menu even when I am 100% sure this phone support TDD band 40
SM-G950FD missing GSM850 band
My S8 is missing GSM850 band. I probably never noticed that, but the problem is that this is the only working 3G band in the area I live now. I forced to use my older SM-G850W to get my service. To my understanding, GSM850 just disabled on this Russian variant. I have already tried to Odin similar ROMs from South Americas (same CSC: FOX) with no change.
Device Model: SM-G950FD
AP Firmware: G950FXXSBDTJ1
CSC Firmware: G950FOXMBDTJ1
CP Firmware: G950FXXSBDTJ1
Firmware Country: SER
Is there any way to get GSM850 enabled? Is flashing with G950FOWT9DTF1 possible? Will it help?

Technically the S8 with Exynos (like your device) should support GSM 850 MHz.
You can try to set the mobile network mode manually to 3g or back to auto - see my screenshot.
I did everything but it seems like the band is physically disabled (please see my initial screenshot)
The only way now I can imagine is to change modem/country...
