Hi
Im very Happy with the Oreo Update for the Essential Phone. The only thing that doesn't work ist the Equalizer with Spotify. Does it work with your phone? I tried it via Bluetooth and the USB-C Adapter both failed.
My Phone is not Rooted and haven't Plan it to do. With the Beta and Android 7 the Equalizer seems Fine.
Thanks for your Help

Thanks for your Feedback i will try to Clear the Cache from MusicFX and hope for the best
Have found the Solution... its from 2013
I figured out what is causing the problem and this is when using the music fx equalizer any song you are playing from a playlist that is stored for offline use and you own that song this will cause the equalizer not to work. Once another song you do not own is played the equalizer works again. The only way to get a song you own to work with the equalizer is to go to the custom settings of the equalizer when the song you own is playing and click ok and the equalizer will work until spotify hits another song you own. This problem caused me to delete some songs I own off the phone and then delete the playlist and download it again so the playlist does not use a song I own and then the equalizer will not turn off.
Thanks Caltinpla:good:
Wow, that's a very particular circumstance and process to fix. Sure seems like a bug in Spotify and/or interface with the equalizer app.

Interesting...
I personally think it's malarkey...
Because... The built in equalizer will only work on songs that you have stored... When streaming... Deep Buffering kicks in... This causes more download from streaming audio sources... And bypasses the equalizer... Hence why you need to remove deep buffering to make streaming audio process...

Try turn on 5.1 option when watching a movie, maybe it's only for this? Anyway I'm using it only with videos and didn't try with music.
I can turn it on while watching a video but cant do the same in music player.
Mines has worked from day 1 with the music player. I never touched anything, just when I put my music on and pressed 5.1 it worked.
You have to have both effects turned off, equaliser, and the other one, to get it to work.
Works fine here.
From day #1 I don't have problems with 5.1 ch mode. Works fine. Wthat did you change on your phone? Maybe a hard reset will help?
Found out the prob. My equaliser was set to auto and because of that 5.1 wasnt being activated.
Thanks for the help.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
The music player is good with the 5.1. The auto eq setting is also good considering it reads id tags from genre and activates the particular eq preset for the genre(i think, after experimenting with some tracks)
However, the player only recognizes play and pause and llaunch player from the inline mic button of the headset. Would be nice to support press twice to next track, press thrice to go back
Sometimes i wanna listen to music while playing a game but on opening any game my music player automatically goes off. Any suggestions?
weird question :
Probably a big no if the game is not made for that
Try it it's simple :
Launch a game
press home button
Launch a music player
relaunch the game and resume your party
Thanks but that doesn't work, I tried.
on a sidenote, does anyone notice that aside from when playing music the headphones that come with the play sound weird?
i use a bluetooth headset and i haven't experienced this. usually i turn off the notification and set it to vibrate. my music never stops even in switching games
It automatically turns off any music that you are listening to and plays the game music by default.

Same here. Start the music playing. Open game. Mute the audio in the actual game not using the volume keys. Then the volume keys will control the music's volume

I haven't even taken those out of the plastic, so no comment from me. I'd personally recommend some Shure over-the-ear headphones, as the phone does a decent job pushing them.
So it's not possible..Poor design IMO.
Another reason to hate the stock music player.
Winamp works perfectly.

Really, i will try winamp now, though i must say that i am skeptical.
***UPDATE***
Winamp works flawlessly!
At random times when i play music there isnt any sound coming out the the headphones. After pausing and playing, changing tracks or scrolling the track it suddenly starts working again. This happens at random times and gets pretty annoying. I have tried different Equilizers but no luck. Right now im using the Noozxoide Eizo rewire pro on xnote 20. Anything i can do to fix this? has anyone else experienced this?
Yep, mine does that occasionally. Haven't been able to pin down the cause as of yet.

Stock, N7, Winamp, Poweramp, Shuttle. All have the issue.
Full firmware reflash & data+cache wipe did nothing to resolve it.
It's not any specific song that has the issue.
Files on the SD or Internal make no difference.
Neither doe the EQ settings, headset vs speaker.
Adapt sound is disabled completely in applications.
It's not overly common (+-Once every 3 days of 12 hours listening), but it does happen.
Also at times it won't play the next song after the last one ended until I hit the power button to turn on the screen. Then it starts.
I suspect it has something to do with the notorious Mediascanner process. It's so bugged it probably gets stuck halfway through.
Yea i've tried mulitple 3rd party music players as well as the stock player. Im starting to think it might be equalizers.. I uninstalled the equilizer i was using which has worked fine for me on the stock music player, however, 3rd party music players still have the problem.
i am facing this issue that when i play songs using google play music or retro music ( if you want find it on play store) it skips a few second of music , i have tried different ear phone , head phones and speakers , this issue is only when playing with bluetooth connected devices.
Also i have a song app called savan , it is kindof like spotify+ and when i play songs with it , it works fine without any skipping.
It skips while music is playing?

Hi, I know this thread is a bit older, but I just want to mention, that I have the same issue on a OP5T.
It happens on every music app I've tested - Shuttle, Google Play Music, Phonograph, BlackPlayer, Impulse, Retro Music, Eon, Pulsar.
But it only appears when I skip the song with the apps 'skip-song-button' and when Wifi is turned on.
That means with off-screen gestures or Wifi turned off it works as it should on my side, that's not a fix but a rather a bad workaround.
It is due to the devices not being completely compatible with bluetooth 5.0. Its hardware sided dont worry about it. Just wait for BT 5.0 devices such as this: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/...i-true-wireless-headphones-audio-technology#/

mine skipped the song with gestures as well !! and it doesn't matter if wifi was on or off ... but now after the oreo update it is working just fine ...maybe the other music player that i installed did some changes in the library to get gapless playback and when i upgraded the device the libraries got back to normal !
Hey guys.
I don't think I am the only one who experience audio stuttering while playing music, but couldn't find another thread about it.
So, initially I thought it's only via Bluetooth, but then it turned out audio skips for some miliseconds even while playing it on the speaker of the phone.
Is there any way to fix that? Please note that player priority DOESN'T have an effect. That's the first thing I've tried.
I am on Oreo.
Could you help somehow?
Thanks

What audio player do you use and have stuttering? With bluetooth there is a little delay in sound playing for example youtube vid if you dont have at least aptx connection (aptx not original supported by mia1 butpossible with a magisk module).
I use PowerAmp.
Also, I don't have AptX BT headset, but as I mentioned this issue is NOT only Bluetooth connected.
